Chapter Chapter Five
Whispers can be heard all around the courtyard as Ash and I walk past everyone. Some of what I can hear makes me shake my head and laugh to myself, such ridiculous comments!
“Who’s the girl with the new guy?”
“Is she new, too?”
“No, I think that’s Sofia Einan. She just looks different, somehow.”
Before I know what is going on, a hand is on my arm, spinning me away from the entrance to face the unknown. My eyes travel from the hand placed on my bicep up to the owner’s face of said hand. Surprise causes my eyes to grow wide in shock and an ‘oh’ to slip past my lips “Blake? Um, hi… What’s up?” I am instantly surrounded on three sides, crowded in by Blake’s friends.
“Hey Sofia, I’ll catch you later.” I hear Ash say from behind me. My smile faulters a bit, disappointed maybe, that he is abandoning me, I wanted to stomp my foot childishly like a three-year-old. I am unable to respond because of the voices growing louder around me.
Blake has once more caught my attention as he talks to me, but for the briefest of moments, I swear a scowl flashes across his face, causing his hazel eyes to darken as unlike me, Blake is able to watch Ash walk away.
“I’m sorry Blake, I didn’t hear what you were saying to me. Can you say it again?” I squint my eyes at him, trying to concentrate on his mouth, as though that will help me hear him better, even though I know it won’t.
“Let me walk you to your locker, maybe then you’ll be able to hear me, and we can get away from all this noise.” He grins at me, causing me to smile in return. When he smiles, his eyes light up causing the sharp angles of his face to soften; he is absolutely adorable.
Nodding my head yes, we walk through the hallways, going up the stairs to make our way to the senior hall. Do not think for one moment I didn’t notice all the stares that followed after us as we walked through the school. “So,” I say quietly, shyness taking over me. “What were you saying outside?”
“I had asked how you were doing today. Are you feeling alright?” I see concern in his eyes, more of a green than a hazel color at the moment, but I wave the question aside, laughing at the worried expression that is upon his face.
“Oh, gosh. I’m fine, thanks for asking though.” I look at him and smile, an awkward silence falling between us. I fidget with my locker, trying to open the stubborn door. “Was there something else you needed?”
“I, um, do you know that guy you were walking with?”
My head was inside my locker as I rummaged around for a book when he asked this. Quickly removing myself from out of the locker, I look at Blake confused for a second. “What? Who? Oh, do you mean Ash? No, I don’t really know him. He’s a new student and also happens to be my next-door neighbor. He and his family just moved in the other day and this morning his car wasn’t working so he asked me for a ride to school.” I knew I was rambling, but I was taken off guard by his question. Is he jealous? I shake that thought away, laughing internally at myself for the thought. Why would he be jealous of Ash?
“Oh, okay.” Blake says in response, and I can visibly see the relief ease from him as his shoulders relax. “So, he isn’t your boyfriend or anything?”
“What? No! I mean I literally just met him yesterday. Wait, why do you want to know if he’s my boyfriend?”
“Uh, well I…” he starts, but then is interrupted as Lori comes up behind me, tackling me in a hug. “I’ll chat with you later,” and then in the blink of an eye, he is gone.
“What was all that about?” Lori waves her hands wildly between me and the spot where Blake had stood. “Also, what is this I hear that you and Ash rode to school together this morning?” She looks at me questioningly, one eyebrow raised waiting for me to answer her. If I didn’t know better, I would say she sounds jealous too. How did my life go from dull and boring to people being jealous…?
“Huh? Oh yeah, no big deal. I am sure if you would have been outside before me, he would have asked you for a ride instead. His Ute, which I have concluded is his car, wasn’t working this morning and so he asked me for a lift.”
She looks at me suspiciously but only for a second or two. “Okay, one down, one question to go. What was going on between you and Blake? It looked like you guys were having a pretty serious conversation.”
“You know, I’m not quite sure what that was all about. He asked how I was feeling but then after that he asked why Ash was with me this morning and whether or not Ash was my boyfriend. It was really, um, weird.” I shrug my shoulders to emphasize the weirdness of the situation.
“Really?” She thinks about what I had just said for a brief second before a light seems to flicker on in her mind. “Oh, my, gosh! I think Blake Tama likes you!”
I burst out laughing at the suggestion. “You’ve got to be kidding. There is no way he is interested in me. Besides, he’s been dating Ashley for the last two years.” I am shaking my head no, but Lori is nodding her head yes.
“You’re wrong Sof, Blake and Ashley broke up like three weeks ago. And I bet you a thousand dollars that he is into you and was trying to find out if you’re single.”
Wanting to respond, I open my mouth, but no sound comes out. I am left standing there speechless. Could it be possible? Blake likes… me?

“Dammit, if the *itch wasn’t right!” I mutter to myself as I glance at my cell phone. A text message has popped up on my screen while I am staring at my art project, determining where to place my next piece.
Unknown: Hey it’s Blake
Me: What? How did you get my number?
Unknown: Don’t be mad but Lori gave it to me
Me: Why would she do that?
Unknown: Because I asked her to…
My head snaps up from gazing at my phone and lands upon Blake’s eyes who are staring at me intensely from across the classroom. He grins and wiggles his fingers in a small wave. Quickly I add his name to the contact number.
Me: But why do you want my phone number?
Blake: Really? Because I wanted to ask you out on a date.
Me: Ohh!
I glance at him before quickly lowering my head again, my face turning crimson as a blush finds its way across my cheeks. The bell rings, startling me. I scramble to put my tools away and store my project and then quickly grab my bag, and bolt from the classroom.

The girl truly has no idea how beautiful she is! I can tell that she is clueless about the power that lies dormant within her as well. Don’t think for a moment that I didn’t notice how amazing she looked today. I saw she had applied a little bit of make-up and it made her eyes look like golden honey. I’m surprised that there weren’t more guys lined up to talk to her, but I am glad there weren’t. I need to figure out why that dude is hanging around her. Something doesn’t sit right with me. I’m pretty sure I’ve met him somewhere before, but I’m drawing a blank at this moment. It is quite frustrating…
One thing that I know for sure, I need to make a move before anyone else becomes brave enough to do so. There is a connection between us, if I didn’t know better, I would say she is my twin flame!
