Chapter 1196 Strange Luke
Yet Sean was panicking at the moment.
Why?
Of course, because she didn't want her lie to be exposed.
It was not like she was really leaving the country, so how could she possibly let Sydney see her off? Her lie would be exposed if Sydney went there.
Sean held the cell phone with both hands and hurriedly explained, "Because I bought a ticket for an 11 PM flight. It's late, so I don't want to let you go back and forth. It's too troublesome. Besides, if you go to see me off so late at night, Mr. Flint will definitely not feel at ease."
That was true.
Sydney rubbed her chin. "But why did you choose such a late flight?"
Sean continued to lie. "To catch up on my sleep on the plane so that when I get abroad, I can immediately go to work."
"I see. Alright, then I won't see you off, but send me a message to let me know you board the plane smoothly. Otherwise, I won't be relieved," Sydney said.
Knowing that Sydney had given up on the idea of going to see her off, Sean breathed a huge sigh of relief. "Okay, Ms. Raines."
"Okay, I'll leave you alone then. I'm hanging up." Sydney looked at the time. It was getting late.
Sean didn't want to continue talking to Sydney either. The more she talked, the more she felt sorry.
In the end, she was even more afraid that she couldn't withstand the guilt inside her and would just confess everything.
So after Sydney offered to hang up, Sean was relieved.
"Okay, bye, Ms. Raines."
"Bye."
After hanging up, Sean put the phone down, and her strung nerves relaxed.
Luke walked over and sat down on the edge of the bed, looking at Sean with a faint smile. "I didn't expect you to lie so calmly."
Listening to Luke's sarcasm, Sean laughed to herself in her heart and said evenly, "That was what you asked for, Mr. Chase. In order to not let Ms. Raines know you brought me here, you asked me to resign. Since I could not tell Ms. Raines the truth, I could only lie."
"Oh? So you're blaming me?" Luke narrowed his eyes.
Sean looked away. "No, I'm just blaming myself."
She blamed herself for not pushing him away in the first place and not aborting the baby early.
Otherwise, it wouldn't have come to this.
Yet Sean was curious how Luke knew she was pregnant and that she wanted to abort the baby.
And Luke knew it so accurately that he arrived at Sean's place before her surgery.
It all so intrigued her curiosity.
Sean didn't know how Luke learned all this, and the only thing she knew for sure was that Sydney hadn't told Luke those things.
Because Sydney had never asked Luke, she didn't know that he knew about Sean's pregnancy and had come to stop Sean from aborting the child.
The reason why Luke knew the truth had to be speculated.
"What are you thinking?" Luke couldn't help but ask when he saw Sean's eyes flickering.
Sean avoided his gaze. "Nothing."
She had no intention of directly asking Luke how he knew all this.
She knew she wouldn't get an answer even if she asked.
Luke wouldn't tell her.
So it was better not to ask.
Maybe when more time passed, she'd figure it out.
Seeing that Sean hid it and didn't say anything, Luke scowled and then stood up. "Alright, it's getting late. I have to go. Just stay here. The maid will come over to take care of you in a while. If there's nothing going on, don't contact others or go out, or else I don't know what I'll do. Do you understand?"
Sean jerked her head up to look at him, her face pale. "Mr. Chase, you want to lock me up?"
Luke let out an enigmatic laugh. "If you like, it's not impossible."
Sean's face clouded.
'Who likes it?'
"Well, I'm leaving. Call me if anything happens." Luke reached out and subconsciously wanted to pat Sean's head.
But then he realized that she was Sean, not Sydney, his hand suddenly pausing over Sean's head. His face looked gloomy.
Luke didn't understand why he wanted to pat Sean's head.
Obviously, many women were not Sydney, and he had never patted those women on the head.
But now he wanted to do so to Sean.
Apparently, Sean wasn't Sydney either.
Luke withdrew his hand and stared down at it for a moment, his face getting sulkier the more he looked at it.
He only felt that he was crazy. Clearly, he did not take Sean as Sydney, but he tried to pat her head. He must be crazy. Why else did he do that?
Luke put his hand down, sullenly looking at Sean as if he wanted to figure out the reason from her face.
But after looking for a while, he failed. In the end, he made his mind even more irritated. With a grunt, he turned around and left.
Sean looked at his angry back, only feeling that he was unreasonable.
'I did not offend him. Why did he suddenly get angry?'
At this time, Sean found that Luke's temper seemed to be getting worse and worse.
Obviously, once upon a time, Luke's temper was very good, not as fickle and elusive as now.
Now he acted like this. She guessed it was because she was annoying.
Sean let out a bitter laugh, looking up slightly at the ceiling in a daze.
Meanwhile, Luke walked out of his private villa and returned to his car.
He didn't rush to drive away. He sat in the driver's seat, leaned against the back of the seat, and put one hand over his eyes, looking very tired.
Of course, Luke wasn't really tired. He was just irritated, with an indescribable feeling.
This feeling was out of control,
making him unable to be serene.
Even his intuition told him that this feeling would not be gone. Instead, it would get stronger with the passage of time.
And Luke knew full well that he became like this because of Sean.
He was never like that when he faced other people.
Only when facing Sean did he become unlike himself.
Logically speaking, he should drive such an uncertain factor that made him unlike himself far away.
Yet for some reason, he didn't do that, and he didn't even want to do that. On the contrary, he kept this uncertain factor right next to him.
That was why he felt he was crazy.
As Luke was thinking about it, the cell phone in his bag suddenly rang, temporarily interrupting his daze.
He rubbed his face and stopped thinking about these vexing things. After sitting up straight, he took his cell phone out.
Seeing the caller ID, he smiled and answered the call. "Syd."
The call was from Sydney.
Learning that she and Gianna had guessed wrong about Sean, Sydney was completely relieved.
After she hung up the phone with
Sean, Sydney remembered what et
Zach had said when she left the old residence at noon, which led her to call Luke again.
"Luke, are you busy?" Sydney asked.
Luke glanced out of the car at the villa across the street and replied with a twinkle in his eye, "No, Syd. What's the matter?"
"Well, I just want to tell you that Dallin has been hit," Sydney said with a smile.
Luke was surprised. "So soon? Yuri is quite efficient now. He used to be
a slowcoach. He always dillydallied when he was asked to do something. I thought it would take him at least a day or two to do it. I just told him last night. I didn't expect him to let someone beat Dallin up today. That's not like him."
He laughed with surprise and joy.
