Sir, Let’s Divorce by Victoria Nelson Chapter 78
Chapter 78
Chapter 78
Gazing into her red eyes. Matthew paused momentarily.
The man’s face, hidden in the shadows cast by the light, was obscured, and his expression was indiscernible.
The atmosphere became eerily quiet.
Victoria felt the cold air gradually encroaching upon her.
“Do you consider tying the knot with me to be a form of torment?” Matthew asked softly, his lips close to her car.
“In the past, I desperately wanted to grow up quickly so I could be your wife…“ Victoria shook her head.
“What about now?”
“Now…”
“I don’t have a clue, Victoria uttered with a bitter smirk.
“Now that you’ve birthed someone else’s child, Victoria,” Matthew asked, raising her chin, “what right do you have to say that you’re tired?”
“Matthew…”
“What is your connection to the person outside?”
Victoria paused for a moment and declared, “The first time I encountered him was at the billiard hall. There was nothing between us…”
“He doesn’t look like he has no other intention with you.” Matthew looked deeply at her. “Victoria, can you really think you can get away with playing around outside just because you brought up divorce? Don’t forget who you are now.”
“As long as you remain Mrs. Shadwell, do not attempt to flirt with other men.”
“Mrs. Shadwell… Do you think I am?” Victoria laughed at the thought.
Wasn’t she just a tool that he could use at his convenience?
“I won’t let anyone else have her, even if I don’t want her myself, Matthew said icily.
Victoria was rendered utterly speechless.
The man who had once been so familiar to her had now become a stranger.
She opened her mouth, but only bitter words came out. “I have no connection to him. I won’t have anything to do with him. Don’t go looking for trouble with him…”
“Nothing to do with him?”
Matthew narrowed his eyes dangerously and picked up the pink helmet behind her. “Victoria, have you figured out how to fib without leaving a trace?”
“That is…”
Victoria said that Zion insisted on giving it to her.
It seemed as though she was avoiding something, which would implicate him.
She shook her head and said, “Whatever you think.”
Matthew stared at her his gaze icy.
He lifted his head and tossed the helmet into the trash.
Victoria’s fingers twitched, yet in the end she refrained from picking it up, wary of provoking the man’s already volatile temper.
Satisfied with her obedience, Matthew released her hand and said, “… Off you go, have a shower.”
“What are you attempting to do?” Victoria raised her head in astonishment.
“Victoria, don’t act like you don’t care. If you keep up the charade, it’ll be dull, Matthew scoffed.
“Regarding the divorce…” Victoria pressed her lips together firmly.
“I already told you, you are not qualified to bring up divorce.”
“Unless one day, I’m totally fed up with you and even find torturing you tiresome. I’ll naturally tell you to seram, Matthew interjected.
Victoria clenched her fists tightly and remained silent.
Whenever she appeared this way, it would annoy Matthew.
He only wanted to say more hurtful words to elicit other reactions from her.
The more it was this way, the quieter Victoria became when she was around him.
The quieter she became, the more Matthew felt the urge to hurt her.
It was a cycle of viciousness.
In the bathroom is where it is.
Victoria pressed her body against the floor–to–ceiling glass, gritting her teeth in silence.
In front of her was the cold glass, and behind her stood a man with no hint of compassion.
Her tears flowed effortlessly, mingling with the tiny droplets of water. It was impossible to distinguish between them.
It hurts…
It hurts…
She didn’t want to cry, as it would be futile.
He was no longer the Matthew who would be moved by her tears.
