Chapter 69
Matthew said slowly. “What’s the name of that scoundrel?”
Victoria gritted her teeth, refusing to utter a word. Clenching the sheets beneath her with both hands, she was at a loss as to how he knew this name.
Did she actually speak in her sleep yesterday?
“You seem very anxious. Are you worried I might get into some kind of altercation with him?” Matthew inquired, observing. her response.
“Impossible, you won’t be able to locate him…” Victoria uttered, her eyes glistening with tears.
“Is he really a son?” Matthew inquired thoughtfully.
Victoria was taken aback for a moment. Realizing he had deceived her, she clammed up and ceased speaking.
Matthew continued, “A lad called Zero. By the calendar, he should be two and a half years old this year…”
As he spoke, Victoria’s breathing grew heavier and heavier. She clamped her lips together, refusing to utter a word.
Matthew suddenly kissed her cheek gently and licked the blood on the corner of her mouth. “Don’t bite your lips anymore. I feel bad for you.”
“Don’t look into him, alright? You’ll hurt him…” Victoria’s body was shaking.
“How did you figure out that I was intending to hurt him?”
“Since you dared to bring forth that illegitimate child without my knowledge, if I can’t find him, won’t I be failing to meet your expectations of me?” Matthew asked with an evil smile.
“Do you loathe me that much?” She inquired with tears threatening to spill from her eyes.
“So, what do you reckon I should do? Should I just grin and bear it, and accept your and another man’s illegitimate child if I want to be with you?” Matthew gently caressed her cheek.
Victoria took a deep breath, gazing down at her hands.
She felt an overwhelming exhaustion for a moment.
She said in a thick nasal tone, “Matthew, if it’s really painful, let’s just forget about it…”
Once she had finished speaking, an eerie silence descended.
The sound of breathing was audible.
Victoria gazed at the bare wall and said to him, “I tried my best to make amends. I realized that the rift between us is too wide… It’s so painful, so why don’t we just let go and live happily together?”
She lifted her head, her eyes glistening with tears. She gazed at him and smiled sadly. “I apologize for bringing all these uncomfortable feelings to you.”
“Matthew, let’s get a divorce.”
Since the start of her love affair, she had been in love with this man and he had reciprocated.
She used to believe that, come what may, she and Matthew would remain together.
Reality, however, showed that many things and feelings were fragile and could not survive misunderstandings.
“I’m exhausted as well.
Victoria smiled, yet her tears kept streaming. “Matthew, let’s put an end to us.”
At noon, Sarah waited for Victoria to go out.
She quickly opened the car door and stepped out. “Did that jerk do anything to you?”
At the end of her sentence, her voice softened, aware of the humor of her words.
Mauhew couldn’t do anything to Victoria.
Especially after they spent the night together yesterday, what happened could be easily imagined!
Victoria’s face was pale and, without saying a word, she shook her head.
Upon seeing her in such a state, Sarah could not bring herself to ask again. She simply embraced Victoria and softly uttered. “No matter what, I will always be here for you.”
She could only pretend not to notice the streaks of green and purple on her body and said to her, “My dad just phoned me.
