Chapter 38
Domascus didn’t sleep. All night he stared at the podium where he united with Kira. He concentrated on that moment. Her smile, her kiss, and he held on. She was safe. That was all that mattered. When Michalei came for him that morning he wasn’t surprised.
“I wonder what other secrets your mind holds.” Michalei grinned as he paced before him.
“You won, you caught me.” Domascus sighed. “Turn away from magic now and maybe Kira will forgive you.”
Michalei struck him hard in the face. “Do not speak her name!”
Domascus spit blood at Michalei’s feet.
“You have already shown me many things through your journal.” Michalei continued.
Domascus closed his eyes, “Please, just let it go.” He begged.
“You will tell me everything” Michalei smiled. “I don’t need you to speak to do it.”
Michalei put his hand on Domascus’ chest. He cried out as the searing pain coursed through his body. Michalei held on a bit longer as the memories flowed through his brain as if they were his own. When he let go, Domascus slumped down, the chains the only thing that held him standing. Tears fell down his face, waiting for the pain to end.
“You were the most enchanted one out of all of them weren’t you?” Michalei started to laugh.
Michalei put his hand back on Domascus. The pain burned its way into his soul. As the tears threatened to fall again he could see Michalei change. They were more than memories now, he stared back at himself.
“Goddess no. please don’t do this.” Domascus begged with the last of his strength.
Michalei just smiled, turned, and walked away. Domascus wanted to die. He fought against the restraints. His need to save Kira from Michalei was his driving wind. When all attempts failed, he slammed his head into the stone wall defeated. That’s when he caught the glimpse in the shadows.
“Sephiroth,” He spoke.
“Domascus,” Sephiroth replied as he stepped into the light.
“Please, don’t let him do this to Kira.” Domascus begged. “She will never recover.”
“I know. That’s how you destroyed my Sephira.” Sephiroth replied.
“If you love Kira even half as much as I do you will find a way to save her.” Domascus swore. “Open the portal to earth and push her through.”
“What are you saying?” Sephiroth asked surprised.
“Keep me prisoner if it makes you feel better about what I have done Sephiroth. I don’t care. I deserve to be punished, she doesn’t. Send her away, it’s her best chance at a normal life.” Domascus begged.
Sephiroth was speechless. All he could do was back away as he began to understand. He turned away and stormed out of the room. Domascus slumped back against the cold stone and prayed to whatever could hear him to keep his Kira safe.
