Singularity

Chapter 31

Michalei had nowhere to go and no one left to turn to. He couldn’t return to the academy. He had given up that right when he pledged himself to the service of Avalon. Kira had cast him away as if he were nothing. That was all she had left him with, the bitter anguish of her betrayal. He was alone.

It surprised Michalei when his portal opened to Credos. The thought hadn’t even crossed his mind until the moment he stood there staring at the grey stones. Here was the home of the great betrayer. If there was an answer of how to defeat him it would be here in front of him. This was the answer. Use the knowledge contained there to return to Avalon, destroy Domascus, and save them all.

There was no one left to stop Michalei from doing just that. Domascus was locked inside Avalon and the bastard that bred him had died by his hand. He strolled into Credos castle and proudly closed the door behind him. He was home, for now, he was the new king. He sat down on the throne and smiled. He didn’t stay there long. There was still much that needed to be done.

Michalei made his way up the staircase and located the library. He marveled at its sheer size. Compared to the collection at Avalon, this looked massive. There were rows upon rows of books, herbs, charms, and other things that he couldn’t identify. On one of the desks he found a hand written collection that he presumed had been the writings of Domascus. That was right where he wanted to begin. He flipped through the pages and read quietly to himself.

To move about Avalon undetected by the guardians I have learned that I must become someone other than myself. The ability to transform into something that will not be recognized was not so easily achieved. So far I have come to understand that whoever I want to mimic either has to be previously enchanted or dead.

“Well, shit.” Michalei cussed aloud and skipped ahead.

It took a while to realize that the personal journal of the madman wasn’t going anywhere. Michalei did however learn from what he had read. He learned that if he wanted something there was a way to accomplish it magically. There were no limits to what the power could do. His attitude improved with that knowledge. He searched more books knowing the more he learned, the more power he would eventually have.
