Chapter 27
Kira appeared in the library just behind Domascus. He looked exhausted and completely defeated with his head down on the desk. She gently put her hand on his shoulder. He looked up, saw her, and began to cry.
“Kira,” He threw his arms around her. “How did you get away?”
“It was your father. He took the charm from me.” She explained.
“My goddess,” He hissed as he hugged her tightly.
“We can’t stay here. They probably already figured it out. This is the first place they will look for us.” She said as she took him by the hand.
“Where are we going?” He asked.
“The last place they’ll think to look. We’re going back to Avalon.” She replied.
“Shit woman, give me a moment to breathe.” He said pulling her close. “I was so afraid that I had lost you.”
“Oh, Domascus.” She said as she touched his cheek. “I was afraid too.”
Domascus kissed Kira tenderly. “I don’t ever want to feel like that again.”
“Then let’s make sure that it doesn’t happen again.” She smiled.
“What are you saying Kira?” He asked.
“I love you Domascus.” She said looking deeply into is tear filled eyes.
“Shit,” He stammered. “I never thought it possible. But I love you too Kira.”
“Then come back to Avalon with me. We can complete the union ceremony and never again will they be able to tear us apart.” She smiled.
“Yes,” He said with tears in his eyes.
Domascus held Kira tight and kissed her as the darkness swirled around them. They left Credos behind and quietly appeared in the chamber beneath Avalon castle. Everything they needed for the ceremony had already been gathered. All they needed to do was proceed. Kira stood on the north side of the podium. Domascus took his place on the south side. She took the dagger in her right hand and sliced open her left palm.
As Kira held the blood soaked hand over the bowl, she spoke the words, “Blood of my blood, soul of my soul. I give this offering to make us whole. Two become one infinite as thee, together forever, so mote it be.”
Kira passed the dagger to Domascus. He smiled and slid the blade across his left hand. As the blood dripped into the bowl and mixed with hers he spoke.
“Blood of my blood, soul of my soul, I give this offering to make us whole. Two become one infinite as thee, together forever, so mote it be.” He reached out and took her hand. Their blood mixed together.
They spoke in unison staring into each other’s eyes. “Blood of my blood, soul of my soul, we give you this offering to make us whole. Two become one infinite as thee, together forever, so mote it be.”
They poured the blood filled bowl on the floor at their feet. As their energies combined it nearly took Kira’s breath away. Everything that she felt, everything that she could do, merged with Domascus. They had truly become one. He smiled as the feeling of pure love and faith poured over him. He stepped around the podium, still holding their blood covered hands together. He held her in his arms, ran his fingers through her hair and tore away the veil.
“There are no words for this. I had no idea.” He said as he rested his forehead against hers.
“There is no need for words.” She smiled. “We understand now. But there is something we need to do.”
“We must raise the guardians of Avalon and close the gates.” He replied.
“Yes, we need to protect our city from Michalei.” She smiled.
“I will gather what we need. You stay here and prepare. I’ll be back in a moment.” He said and then kissed her softly.
“Be careful, I’ll be waiting.” She kissed him in return then watched as he disappeared from sight.
