Chapter 18
Kira felt a sharp stabbing pain in her stomach. She collapsed on the floor of the weapons room. As her mind cleared she could feel the words more than she could hear them. Domascus was in trouble. She raced down the hallway to the portal demanding that it take her to him. She pulled the bracelet free from her wrist and ran through the opening. She had no idea where it had taken her. But there he was, standing on the throne room steps, and he wasn’t alone.
Michalei moved in on Domascus and her father wasn’t far behind. Domascus’ father cowered frailly behind his son. Kira didn’t hesitate. She threw her hands up creating a barrier in-between them. Stunned they stepped backward barely avoiding the sting of a collision.
“Kira,” Domascus breathed a sigh of relief as she walked through the barrier and straight up to him.
“What is this papa?” She demanded as she stood next to Domascus.
“He has done something to you hasn’t he?” Sephiroth answered with a question of his own.
“No, he didn’t papa. I choose to let him go.” Kira stated.
“You still love that monster don’t you?” Michalei stated.
“From where I’m standing you two are the monsters.” She howled. “Leave them in peace.”
“I’m not going anywhere without you Kira. It’s time you come to your senses and realize how dangerous Domascus really is.” Michalei stated.
“Then you leave me no choice. Go home.” She clapped her hands and it rang out as loud as thunder.
In a flash of light Sephiroth and Michalei disappeared. Kira began to sway as dizziness swept over her. Domascus took her in his arms and carefully lowered them both to the floor.
“It’s alright, I’ve got you.” He whispered into her ear. “I didn’t think you would come.”
“I heard you.” She shivered in his arms.
“Is what he said true? Do you really love me?” He asked.
“Yes, it’s true. I do love you. Not for whom they say you are, but for whom I know you to be.” She looked into his eyes.
“Goddess Kira,” He replied with tears in his eyes.
“Let me help you Domascus. We can fix everything that you’ve wronged. You don’t have to be the bad guy anymore. I can fix you.” She whispered.
“You would do that for me?” He asked.
She smiled, “I would do it with you if that’s what you want.”
“I want it more than anything.” He replied kissing her tenderly. “I don’t deserve it. I don’t deserve you.”
“You will,” She laughed and then closed her eyes.
“Rest now Kira. You’re going to need it.” He smiled.
Domascus lifted Kira in his arms and carried her upstairs. He laid her on the bed and then sat in the chair for a while just watching her sleep. He couldn’t believe she had come back to defend him after all he had done. As he watched her sleep peacefully, he knew how special she really was.
Michalei doubled over, holding his stomach. He thought for a moment that he would vomit. He fought to catch his breath as Sephiroth patted him on the back reassuringly.
“What the hell was that?” Michalei asked when he was finally able to stand up.
“That was a teleportation. We’re back in Avalon.” Sephiroth replied.
“Kira?” Michalei asked.
“I’m assuming she stayed behind since she’s not right here with us. It was her magic that sent us back though. I’m certain of it.” Sephiroth replied.
“Son of a bitch,” Michalei cursed. “How do you fight back against this power?”
“I don’t know son. Magic isn’t something that is easily learned, nor is it something to be trifled with. If you didn’t inherit the gifts, it’s best not to get involved with it.” Sephiroth replied.
“I can’t accept that. We have to get her back. I don’t care what it takes.” Michalei demanded.
Sephiroth sighed, “If there is a way, the answer would be found here in the library or in the chamber below the castle. You have my blessing and the full resources of Avalon behind you.”
“Thank you my king,” He bowed. “I will find a way to put an end to Domascus and bring our Kira home.”
With that said Michalei stormed off to the library and began his quest for answers. Sephiroth slumped down on the throne, saddened and waiting.
