Chapter 383
Chapter 383
From a hidden comer. Abigail silently peeked at Winnie and Josiah leaving together.
What kind of person is she? Her husband is drunk, and she isn't taking care of him. Instead, she's going on a walk with another man! What's worse is that the man is her husband's best friend! Isn't she blatantly cheating on her husband right now?
Anger coursed through Abigail at the thought. She deemed Winnie to be an unfit wife to Xavier.
After pacing around the kitchen for a while, she filled a glass of water, stealthily left the kitchen when the housekeepers weren't paying attention, and made a beeline to the guest bedroom Xavier was resting in. The first thing Abigail saw after stepping into the room was Xavier sprawled across the bed.
She hurriedly crossed the room over to the bed. After setting the glass on the nightstand, she eagerly climbed onto the bed and lay beside him.
She couldn't help but sigh as she studied liis handsome face.
"Oh, heavens! How can such a perfect man like you exist in this world?" Abigail reached her right hand out and traced Xavier's features without actually touching him. Completely infatuated with him, she sighed. "You're handsome and rich. Did you save an entiie galaxy in your past life to gain such desirable attributes? Why couldn't I have met you earlier?"
She was already drunk despite only catching the stench of alcohol from him. Dnmkenly in love with Xavier, she continued, "If you had met me earlier, Winnie might not have even been in the picture. I'm not hal as bad as her after dressing up. I'm good at cheering people up, and I'm obedient. I'll do everything you tell me to."
With no response from Xavier, she began to call his name tentatively.
When she realized Xavier wasn't conscious, she became bolder to the extent of secretly planting a kiss on his cheek.
Still in a drunken daze. Xavier thought it was Winnie, so he pulled Abigail closer to him by cupping the back of her head.
It was Abigail's first time being in such proximity to a man. On top of that, the man was Xavier. She could feel her heart hammering fiercely in her chest.
She instinctively held her breath in anticipation before slowly leaning closer to liis face.
Right when her lips almost touched Xavier's, she heard footsteps approaching the room and Maiy's voice.
Mary was telling someone she was going to check on Xavier.
Afraid of getting caught, Abigail frantically broke free from Xavier's grip and retreated to the wall.
It was so sudden that she didn't know where could be a suitable hiding place. Out of options, she saw the closet in the comer and hid in it.
Before long. Mary came into the room.
However, she didn't only check on Xavier. She adjusted the air conditioner temperature, opened the windows to let some air into the room, and even cleaned up the small couch, which Louis had sat on briefly when he dropped Xavier off.
Maiy was so meticulous in her cleaning that ten minutes had passed by the time she was done.
Abigail nearly suffocated from hiding in the closet for ten minutes.
The second the door shut behind Maiy. Abigail swiftly came out of her hiding spot.
However, she didn't expect Maiy to make a U-tum when she opened the closet door.
Maiy had come back for the glass of water on the nightstand.
She thought the previous housekeeper had forgotten to take it, but, in truth, Abigail was the one who had left it on the nightstand.
Having almost been scared to death, Abigail didn't dare to leave the closet thoughtlessly, worried that Maiy would abruptly reenter the room again.
She chose to hide in the closet for a little longer. It turned out her decision was the right one. for Winnie and Josiah came into the room five minutes later.
Josiah didn't stay in the room for long. He left after checking in on Xavier.
Winnie sat by the bed and said something to Xavier. Still inebriated, he muttered something and held her hand to stop her from leaving. She decided to accompany him for another half an hour. Once Xavier fell back into a deep slumber, Winnie got up and returned to her room.
It was already late when Winnie finally left. Abigail had fallen asleep in the closet.
Obviously, sleeping in the closet wasn't comfortable, so she climbed out of the closet in the middle of the night and slept on the bed.
The next day morning, Xavier's furious reprimand woke Winnie up.
She felt the other side of the bed with her hands and noted the usual warmth wasn't there. She finally recalled Xavier had spent the night in the guest bedroom after he got drunk. Suddenly wide awake, she hurriedly climbed out of bed and strode to the guest bedroom.
When she opened the door, she heard Xavier say, "If it weren't for your father. I would've chased you out of the house. Put on your clotlies and get out now!"
Then she heard a woman's sob. It sounds like a really young lady.
With a frown, she turned her head in Xavier's direction. "Xavier, what's going on?"
Before Xavier could open his mouth to explain, the disheveled Abigail began to cry. "Are you even a man, Xavier? How could you not take responsibility after sleeping with me?"
Xavier sneered. "When did I sleep with you? Stop putting feathers in your hat. I won't even spare you a glance."
Maiy and a few housekeepers rushed into the room after hearing the commotion.
"Mr. Xavier, Mrs. Fairchild, what's going on?" A confused frown man ed Maiy's forehead when she saw Abigail curled up at the end of the bed.
Xavier walked to Winnie and explained. "Winnie, you have to believe me. I never touched her. I don't know when she came in. I might've grabbed her arm, mistaking her for you when she teased me. But after I realized she wasn't you. I immediately pushed her away."
"You're lying!" Abigail had slept beside Xavier the entiie night but didn't do anything because her brain was already asleep when she climbed out of the closet. She had tried to seduce Xavier when she woke up but he had pushed her away without hesitation.
Thinking the truth was too humiliating, she lied, "You didn't just grab my hand. You did more than that. You even did some intimate stuff to me. Don't tiy to deny it. Look at my clothes. Are you telling me you're not the one who tore them? Have you forgotten how you treated me last night? Don't you remember how we spent the entire night passionately on the bed?"
Xavier's brows furrowed in confusion and frustration. "What are you even aiming for by saying such obvious lies?"
"I'm not aiming for anything! Everything I said was the truth!" Abigail crossed the room to Winnie. "I'm telling you. your husband touched me! He slept with me! I like him, and he likes me back!" Winnie could discern the woman sounded very young.
With a frown, she asked. "How old are you?"
Abigail glared at Winnie before answering, "I just celebrated my eighteenth birthday last week, so I'm already an adult! What? Are you jealous that I'm younger than you?"
The crease on Winnie's forehead deepened. Even though being eighteen means she's an adult, isn't she acting too immature?
She slowly walked over to the bed and lifted the bedcovers to her nose. Her laugh echoed across the room. "I wonder if you're too stupid, or do you think you can covet my man just because I'm blind?"
