Silly Bride novel (Winnie and Xavier)

Chapter 352

David nodded and said to Winnie, "We will start by investigating the deliveryman and find out if it was blood or something else that was on the doll. I'll bring the parcel and surveillance footage back to the police station first. You should be careful."

"Got it," Winnie acknowledged briefly as a crease appeared between her brows. "Let me know if you have any updates."

David contemplated briefly before replying, "Let's just wait for the laboratory results. I will send a few men to keep watch at your office."

"Sure. Let me send you off."

Immediately after David left, Winnie gathered the company's security guards to brief them on some important matters to take note of.

As soon as the meeting ended, the woman received a call from Xavier.

Instinctively, she assumed that word had gotten to the man, which was why he called.

However, from the relaxed tone of his voice, he seemed to be oblivious to what had happened. "I just finished my meeting. What did you do this morning? Are you tired?"

"I'm all right." Although Winnie had an eventful morning, she felt better after hearing her husband's voice. "How about you? Are you tired?"

"Hmm..." Xavier chuckled before replying, "I'm aching all over after sitting for a few hours straight. My dear Mrs. Fairchild, would you like to spend your lunch break with me? If you can give me a massage, I wil be a very happy and grateful man!"

Amused by the man's antics, Winnie felt her frustration from what happened earlier instantly dissipate. "Okay," she replied.

The woman glanced at her watch and realized that it was already noon. "Are you going to buy me a good meal?"

"Of course," Xavier replied cheerily before continuing, "Where are you now? I'll go and pick you up."

"Pick me up?" Winnie arched her brows when she heard that. "Why go through the hassle? I can go there on my own."

Xavier smiled to himself and replied in a gentle voice, "Because I want to see you as soon as possible."

Winnie's heart skipped a beat, and she fell silent.

When Xavier did not get a reply, he asked, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Even though they were speaking on the phone and were unable to see each other, Winnie could not help but smile. "I can't wait to see you too. I'm at Garland Group. I'll come over now." In less than half an hour, Winnie arrived at Fairchild Corporation.

The moment the elevator door opened, she saw Xavier standing in front of her.

"Are you going out?" Winnie asked in surprise.

"Yes," Xavier replied while holding the woman's hand. "I'm on my way to meet a really important person."

Winnie frowned slightly and asked, "Oh, you have a meeting with an important client? Go on, then. I'll wait for you in your office."

While speaking, she turned around to press the lift button to hold the elevator for her husband.

However, Xavier stayed still and had no intention of entering the lift.

He stared deeply into Winnie's eyes before pulling her into his arms. "Dumbo, I'm already with that important person."

Winnie burst into laughter and wrapped her arms tightly around the man's waist.

However, Xavier could tell that the woman was feeling down and asked, "You seem quite downcast today. What do you feel like having for lunch? I'll take you to your favorite place and cheer you up." Since Xavier had already noticed it, Winnie no longer had to put up a good front.

She replied placidly, "I don't feel like eating out. Can we just get some food from the cafeteria? I have something to tell you." "What's the matter?" Xavier asked, noticing something amiss. "Where were you in the morning? Did anything happen?" "Let's talk in your office."

Soon, the couple was back in Xavier's office, where Winnie told Xavier about the bloodied parcel she had received earlier.

When Xavier saw the photo on Winnie's phone, a deep crease appeared between his brows.

"It's my fault for overlooking the security planning at Garland Group. I've already arranged for someone to protect you round the clock, so it would be difficult for anyone to get near you. But I think he's smart enough not to try anything that will put him in a dangerous situation."

"You arranged for someone to protect me?" Winnie was rather shocked to hear that. "Why have I not noticed it?"

Stroking his wife's hand gently, Xavier replied, "That means my men are so good at concealing themselves that even the person under protection failed to notice them. Once Harold appears, there's no way he would be able to escape."

Winnie nodded and said, "He's too scheming. Previously, I tried different means to lure him out, but none of them worked. If he knows that we are cooperating with the police, he will definitely be more careful. But Xavier, don't just focus on me and neglect your own safety. You have to pay attention to Fairchild Corporation's security as well."

After taking a pause, Winnie continued to analyze the situation. "Although Harold doesn't know our home address, everyone knows the location of Garland Group and Fairchild Corporation. But I don't think he will show up at Garland Group again. If he's planning to do anything next, his target will be here. Before I came here, I had a meeting with Garland Group's security personnel to brief them on what to take note of. You should do the same for Fairchild Corporation's security team. I'm not afraid of his threats. I'm just worried that he might harm innocent people."

"All right. Don't worry. I'll make arrangements for that straight away. Let me make a call. Tell Louis what you feel like eating."

"Understood. Go ahead."

As there wasn't anything Winnie felt like eating in particular, she told Louis to do as he deemed fit.

Anyway, the assistant already knew what their food preferences were.

While the woman was texting Louis, Xavier spoke to the security manager about the additional safety measures to be implemented in the company.

However, after talking about security matters, Xavier did not hang up immediately but seemed to be speaking about something else instead.

Suddenly, Winnie heard Xavier raising his voice as he spoke. "When did that happen? Where is the person who sent the letter? All right. Pass it to me now." Xavier hung up after saying that.

Sensing that something had happened, Winnie strode toward her husband at once.

"What's wrong? What letter were you talking about?"

"I think you were right," Xavier said, frowning. "Just now, a homeless man barged into the company and left after delivering a letter."

"Was the letter addressed to me?" Realization dawned on Winnie at once.

"Yes." The crease between Xavier's brows grew deeper as he added, "I've already asked them to send it up."

"Okay." Winnie massaged her temples. "Get them to bring us the surveillance footage as well. I want to see what the homeless man looks like."

"Sure, they will bring them up together," Xavier replied.

Indeed, five minutes later, Louis entered the office together with the security manager and a few security guards.

"Where's the letter?" Winnie asked right away. "Let me have a look at it."

One of the security guards, who was wearing gloves, placed the letter on the table.

Louis immediately passed Xavier and Winnie two pairs of clean gloves and said, "Mr. Fairchild, Mrs. Fairchild, there's nothing wrong with the letter, but we haven't checked the contents yet." Spread the love
