Chapter 52 by HusnaS
52. The Safest Option
Tracy shuddered, and the phone almost dropped from her hands. Turning around, she swallowed a gulp. “Th-The time. I- I was just checking the time.”
A look of suspicion flashed in his eyes as he glanced at her, then glanced at the wall clock.
Lucas stepped forward and took his phone from her hand.
Dressed in a white robe with the straps hanging loosely, droplets of water trickled from his hair, down the side of his handsome features, to the exposed flesh on his chest.
Tracy blinked, taking in the man’s handsomeness which was on another level tonight.
Her red silky robe fell off, and slowly and shyly, she brought her hands up.
“What are you doing?” Lucas frowned, his hard voice snapping her out of the reverie.
Tracy smiled bashfully, throwing him an inviting look. “Getting ready for bed,” she replied.
Her heart throbbed uncontrollably as she undid the rubber band on her hair, letting it loose.
“I’ll sleep in the study room.”
Lucas turned around, his back facing her, and his cold words killing the burning flames inside her.
Before Tracy could react, the man had already left the bedroom. Her fingers halted at the straps of her bra. She blinked rapidly, her eyes turning red.
“Damnit!” Tracy kicked the bedside table, not minding the pain it brought to her leg.
Why did he seem to suddenly lose interest in her?
Her eyes dampened with tears.
Recently, the man had always looked troubled and occupied.
Was it Heidi again? What kind of spell did she use on him?
At Grandpa Winston’s birthday party, Lucas had literally forced himself on Heidi.
Why was he avoiding her as if she had some strange illness?
Tracy’s heartache knew no bounds. She sniffled and sank onto the bed, her eyes flashing and her nose flaring.
“Should I give you space, Lucas? Or maybe I should use a different strategy.”
Her heart burning with rage, her bitter expression transformed into a sinister look.
“What is the situation now?” She carried her phone and dialed Stella.
From the other end, Stella’s voice was downcast. “Lucas is too smart for his own good. What if he takes any action?”
“I didn’t expect him to be so protective of that filthy girl. See, he even got into a fight with Zach Olsen again, all because of Heidi. I’m afraid Blake might decide to release Heidi if this escalates into a bigger conflict with other parties like AG Group.”
“Why does Zach Olsen care so much about her? She’s not even richer than the women he hangs out with.”
“Girls like Heidi are very dangerous. Stella, I’m afraid she’ll soon succeed at coming between Lucas and I.”
“Damnit! Everything is messed up. If Lucas exposes us, it will only give that old man more reason to make life difficult for us. Especially when the matter concerns Heidi.”
Stella was pacing inside her room.
Tracy’s lips curled up, sensing Stella’s agitation. “Now do you still think my plan is stupid? The best thing is to just get rid of her.”
“That might be dangerous. Blake and I are already on Lucas’s suspect list,” Stella sounded contemplative. “If Heidi dies suddenly, who do you think he will suspect?
Stella was stupid enough to not tie up loose ends before.
Because of that, she fully gave herself out.
Now Lucas Harrison was after her. If that old man joined the force, would Blake even be able to protect her?
Tracy sighed exasperatedly. Calmly, she rose to her feet and stood by the window.
“What if no one sees her corpse? What if no one finds any evidence? Lucas suspects you, but he doesn’t have any evidence, right?”
“Stella…” Tracy sighed. “This is the safest option.”
