Shouldn’t Mess Up with My Hidden Heiress Ex-wife

Chapter 47 by HusnaS

47. Heidi Disappeared

At StriveStyle Co. The next morning.

Isla hurried up to Heidi while she removed some documents from her bag, dropping them on the desk.

“Ms. Olsen, bad news. The board of directors are here again.”

“What do they want?” Heidi arranged the documents then turned off her computer.

“Well, they demand an urgent meeting, Ms. Olsen,” Isla said, looking exasperated. “I think they’re here to make things difficult for you just like last time.”

Heidi also thought the same. “I’m busy right now. Reschedule the meeting to another day.”

“It’s the board of directors.”

“Is the president present?”

“No, Mr. Zach Olsen didn’t come,” Isla replied.

“Since that’s the case, just convey my order.”

Isla feared the outcome of the meeting, but not as much as she feared her boss turning down a meeting with the board of directors.

Heidi got to her feet and hung the bag over her shoulder, checking her wristwatch.

“You seem to be in a hurry. Are you off somewhere, Ms. Olsen?”

“Yes, I’ll be back soon. If something urgent comes up, give me a call.”

By the time she finished speaking, Heidi was already out of the office.

She boarded a taxi which took her straight to the city hall.

Heidi glanced at her wristwatch again, relieved that she wasn’t late.

But where was the man who told her not to be late?

Sitting in the waiting area, her eyes roamed over the place.

Seeing no sign of Lucas Harrison, Heidi shook her head in disbelief before bringing out her phone.

Contemplating whether to give him a call or not, she finally settled with waiting for a while.

Five minutes passed by…

Heidi stood up and walked back and forth.

Five minutes later, she was sitting on the chair, rapidly tapping her foot on the floor. After ten more minutes, Heidi looked exasperated.

“Mr. Harrison, when will you finally show up? I’ve been waiting for more than twenty minutes.”

Pressing into her phone, she didn’t think twice before dialing his number. There was silence from the other end, then came a deep voice.

“You seem so eager to finalize the divorce. Is this part of your trick?”

Heidi walked out and stood in front of the street, thinking she might see his car.

“Says the one who proposed the divorce first. Are you getting cold feet, Mr. Harrison?” She replied in a mocking tone.

From the other end, Lucas gripped his phone, her words heightening the discomfort in his heart.

“You are thinking too far, Heidi,” he scoffed. “Wait for me and don’t think about-”

A shuffling sound interrupted his speech, followed by a muffled scream.

Lucas frowned and glanced at the phone’s screen. “Heidi?”

He called out her name but could hear only silence.

“Heidi, are you still there?” Lucas called out again. “Don’t just ignore me.”

When Lucas called out for the last time and still got no reply, an uncomfortable feeling tugged at his chest.

“Do you think we are on a cruise?” He snapped at the driver. “Drive faster!”

“Y-Yes, Mr. Harrison.” The driver pressed onto the accelerator, wondering why the once calm man now looked frantic.

The car pulled over in front of the city hall, and Lucas literally jumped out of it.

Looking around, there was no sign of her.

“Mr. Harrison, it’s a splendid surprise to see you here.” One of the staff rushed to him. “How may I help you?”

“Have you seen Heidi?”

“Who’s Heidi?”

Lucas brought out his phone and showed the man a photo.

“Oh, you mean this lady?” The staff scratched his head, narrowing his eyes. “I- I think she was here moments ago. Didn’t you see her outside? She was just standing outside, I- I think.”

The man’s speech was incoherent.

Lucas returned outside but found no traces of her.

“You’d better not be up to any tricks, Heidi.” Instinctively, he brought out his phone and dialed her number.

It was switched off.

Lucas wanted to dial the number again when he realized something.

Hadn’t Heidi blocked him before? Did she unblock him?

“Mr. Harrison, is everything alright?”

His lawyer, who had just arrived, asked with furrowed brows.

“Heidi was supposed to be here. How could she have left in such a short time?” As Lucas spoke, his heart somehow beat strangely.

His attention came back to his phone and he sent her a message.

For a long time, no reply came from the other end.
