Shouldn’t Mess Up with My Hidden Heiress Ex-wife

Chapter 29 by HusnaS

29. Grandpa’s Schemes

“You can’t fire us! StriveStyle Co. can’t do without us.”

“The number of employees is rapidly declining. At this moment, you won’t dare fire any employee.”

“Even though you’re the CEO, didn’t you claim that you want to revive this brand?”

“Believe me, StriveStyle Co. doesn’t need employees like you.” Heidi walked inside the elevator, leaving the three ladies dumbfounded.

“Young Miss, you must have had a long day, didn’t you?” John said from the driver’s seat, noticing the exhaustion in her eyes.

“Not really. I’m striving well.”

“Just tell me if you’re tired, Young Miss

“So you can report it to Grandpa, right?”

“Haha-Hehe.” John scratched his head. “Do you believe I’m a spy, come on. The Old Master is only looking out for you. Let me tell you, Young Miss…”

As John chattered on, while driving her home, Heidi’s phone constantly beeped in her bag.

She brought it out and saw Grandpa Winston’s name flashing on the screen.

“Heidi, you silly girl. When are you planning to visit me again?”

“Grandpa, are you alright?” Grandpa Winston’s voice sounded weak, making Heidi frown.

“How can I be alright when you’re ignoring me. This old man might die from loneliness soon if he doesn’t see his precious granddaughter-in-law.”

Then he coughed nonstop before hanging up.

Heidi’s heart was thumping and she quickly told John to drive her straight to Phoenix City’s First Hospital.

On getting there, Heidi got down and hurried to the entrance.

“Young Miss, will you come out soon?” John called out.

Heidi didn’t know the severity of Grandpa Winston’s condition, so she said, “Don’t wait. I’ll call you to pick me up.”

John was hungry, so he didn’t argue with her and drove off.

When Heidi arrived at the VIP ward where Grandpa Winston was now admitted, she met the man standing on his feet while the Young Nurse helped him wear a coat.

“Haha! Little Girl, you’re clever! How did you convince the doctor to release me so soon?”

“Grandpa Winston, what choice did I have? You threatened to make us all lose our jobs.”

Heidi blinked, taking in the scene. Her heart, which was rapidly beating before, returning to its normal rate.

“Heidi, my dear granddaughter, you’re here.” Grandpa Winston turned around and squeezed her in his arms. “I hope Grandpa didn’t make you worried.”

Heidi, who almost had a heart attack a while ago, stared at Grandpa Winston in disbelief.

At the same time, someone barged inside the ward, startling everyone.

“Grandpa! How is Grandpa!” Lucas’s deep voice was laced with fear after racing down here.

His eyes accessed everyone in the room before they fell on Heidi.

Heidi looked as if she’d been struck by lightning. “You-” she almost had the urge to pounce on the man, then quickly remembered where she was.

Lucas, who was also having the same murderous thoughts, instantly controlled himself.

He checked Grandpa Winston out from head to toe. “Aren’t you developing another heart attack, Grandpa?”

“Silly boy, is it your wish that I die?”

(( .” Lucas was speechless.

He just got a call from the old man who was speaking fine, then he started coughing and there was commotion in the background.

“Now enough with the questioning. Will you two take me back home? The doctor has announced that I can go home.”

“Of course, let’s go.” Lucas held him gently. “I hope you can walk well.”

“What do you take me for? A seventy- year-old man!” Grandpa Winston slapped his hand off.

“You’re turning seventy-one next month. So?”

“Forget it.” Grandpa Winston turned to Heidi. “Come, hold my arm, Heidi. This way, I can feel more safe.”

Luca’s expression turned dark.

“Grandpa, aren’t you going home? I mean, congratulations. I can take my leave.”

Heidi was really afraid she might strangle the grumpy guy.

But Grandpa Winston insisted, “Don’t break my heart, silly girl. I told the servants to prepare your favorite food, won’t you accompany this poor old man home?”

“Ha! Grandpa, it’s not like that. Of course, I’ll accompany you home.”

Heidi pulled up a stiff smile, her expression more like a grimace.

“Stop looking like a sad puppy. Here, you can hold my arm too,” Grandpa Winston said to Lucas whose expression only turned darker.

Heidi suppressed her laughter, struggling to maintain a blank look.

As they guided Grandpa Winston out of the hospital, Lucas gave her a look that spelled, “You’re in trouble.”
