Chapter 27 by HusnaS
27. One Man’s Fall…
At GK Group.
Lucas was standing by the floor-to- ceiling window, his rigid features cascaded with an icy frost, remnants of the rage from last night lingering.
“M-Mr. Harrison.” Amanda walked inside. “The paparazzi are outside the company. The Shareholders demand an emergency meeting… regarding your proclaiming the AG Group as an enemy.”
It had become the topic of discussion in every news channel in Phoenix City.
Last night, at Zach Olsen’s birthday party, not only were the paparazzi present, but they also captured everything.
Lucas turned around, his murderous look scaring the shit out of the secretary.
“I- I’ll take my leave, I’ll inform them that you’re not available-”
“Wait.”
Amanda was about to flee and Lucas stopped her.
“The day before yesterday, at NightBay Street, 10:00 p.m. Investigate what happened.”
“O-Okay.” Amanda nodded rapidly and left, even though there were so many questions in her eyes.
Lucas left the office.
He arrived at the conference room and met a dozen pairs of curious and worried eyes.
“Mr. Harrison, your recent decision regarding AG Group is a shock to everyone. Can you please tell us what is the main reason behind it?”
“GK Group and AG Group have been great allies for several years now. Now that the AG Group is at its critical moment, is GK Group not going to lose face by severing ties with them?”
“GK Group is prominent for its loyalty and always sticking with its allies through thick and thin. When you openly declared the AG Group as an enemy, it means we’re going into a battle with a weak soldier without armor.”
“At this kind of time, aren’t we supposed to be helping the AG Group rise on its feet?”
“GK Group is not a charity organization.” Luca’s cold eyes swept across everyone. “We’re not entitled to save any falling company. In this competitive business world, one man’s fall is another’s victory.”
His words weren’t many, but they answered all the Shareholders’ questions.
Most of them were satisfied while some of them feared for the AG Group.
GK Group was already at its peak, and AG Group was failing.
In this kind of battle, the victorious one is always obvious.
At Phoenix City’s First Hospital.
Grandpa Winston squinted his eyes as he watched the news. “Why do I keep seeing bad things on the TV these days? Little girl, give me my glasses.”
The nurse handed him his glasses and he could clearly see GK Group Vs. AG Group on the news headline.
“What’s going on?”
The Young Nurse cleared her throat. ” Grandpa Winston, there’s news everywhere that Lucas Harrison is severing ties with the AG Group.”
“Huh? Why? Isn’t that company already falling?”
“Precisely, the Young Master seems to have a personal feud with the president of AG Group.”
“Since when did my grandson become so corrupt?” Grandpa Winston bellowed. “Why does he involve personal feelings in business? That’s not how I taught him.”
“You don’t know, but I heard it’s because of your granddaughter-in- law,” the nurse whispered, her eyes filled with gossip. “It seems the president of AG Group has eyes for the former Young Mrs. Harrison.”
“You mean Heidi?” Grandpa Winston frowned.
Then he sank into a deep thought.
Why would his grandson fight someone who was courting Heidi?
Unless…
Grandpa Winston’s eyes lit up. He chuckled deeply and nodded his head.
“Grandpa Winston, are you alright?” The Young Nurse found his behavior odd.
“Haha, don’t worry about me, Little Girl. By the way, when are you going to release me from this dungeon?”
“Until you get better.”
“Why doesn’t anyone come to visit me? Is Heidi busy? My Grandson should return, right?”
“Grandpa Winston, how about I call Blake Harrison?”
“Quit it! Don’t mention his name!”
