YBTM | Chapter 4
Violet
Frantically searching the halls of the hotel for Mike, we could not find him anywhere. I really hope that he didn't do anything rash. We looked around for my dad's men, but only a few were left. Mike must have taken some with him. We rushed to the front desk, all out of breath, causing the desk clerk to look at us oddly.
"May I help you?" She said a bit slowly. What is she, some kind of ditz? Like, hello! We are obviously hotel guests.
"Mike Mizanin...have you seen him?!" I shouted between breaths. I am in full on panic mode right now.
"Who?" She asked as she looked through her computer. I didn't have time for her stupidity.
"Damn it!" I slammed my hand on the deck, startling her. She was being ridiculous and was obviously too busy checking Alex out.
"Vi..calm down..." Nicole said soothingly, knowing I was about to blow at any moment.
"A guy, about my height, brown hair, tattoos." Alex explained the best he could.
"Oh him..he left about 5 minutes ago." She said, not really caring. What a bitch. If I could, I would have bitch slapped her.
"Was he with anyone?" Nicole asked, getting anxious, as I started to get impatient.
"Well...he was following another gentleman around...tall...dirty blonde hair, tattoos, kinda cute." She explained as she blushed. Wow, this was what she was paid to do? Stand around and gawk at men. "He aint cute honey." I muttered, rolling my eyes.
"Thank you." Alex said as we started to leave, until I heard someone call my name. I stopped walking as I looked around to see if it was anyone we knew or one of my dad's men.
"Vi!" I heard again, causing me to turn around.
"I'll catch up." I said to Nicole as I left before she could answer. Since they used my nickname, I figured it was someone we knew. Not many people use my full name, not close friends and family. Walking over to where the voice was coming from, I cautiously made my way over. Seeing who it was, my eyes went wide.
"Miss me?" He grinned as panic filled me and I stood there frozen.
Mike
Following Ted from the hotel, I couldn't help but wonder what he was up to. Why the hell was he in New York to begin with? He should be rebuilding what we took from him when he went to jail. Yes, we took him for most of what he had. Unfortunately, the feds wanted him gone, so we had to leave him some bread crumbs. He was way worse than our Capo. Ours did most of the same expect the trafficking he did. The boss would never touch that.
Making his way into a small coffee shop down the street, I waited a bit before following him. After he got his drink and sat down, I made my way in. Ordering myself a coffee, I sat in a booth across the room from him. Trying to decode his body language, he seemed a bit too relaxed. As he sipped his drink, he looked at his phone and a grin appeared on his face. Standing up, he began to exit the shop with his coffee in hand. Shortly after he left, I stood up to follow him. 'What is he up to?' I thought to myself as we headed back to the hotel. He was way too relaxed and confident. I really hope he didn't notice I was following him. If he did, I was fucked.
"Mike!" I heard from behind me. Looking in the direction I came from, I saw Nicole and Alex running toward me.
"Mike thank god!" Nicole said out of breath as she placed her hand on her chest.
"What is going on?" I asked, confused.
"Vi. She was with me. She thought you were Ted and got scared." She said.
"Where is she now?!" I demanded, noticing he was not with them. No, this can't be happening. I should have kept more men at the hotel.
"She was at the hotel. Said she would catch up." She added.
"You left her alone?!" I barked, running my hands through my hair. Fuck. This was not good. I took my phone out to let all our men know to get to the hotel and find Vi, stat. "I'm sorry! I figured Ted was not here so she would be fine!" Nicole said, almost in tears.
"Shauna..." I said, pulling her into a hug. It was not her fault and I was taking it out on her. She didn't deserve my harsh attitude, not now. "I'm sorry. I lost her once and I'm not going to again." I sighed as I rubbed her back as I looked over her head toward Alex who was on the phone.
"I know... it's fine." She sniffled.
"Lets go before anything else happens." Alex interjected. "I have all the men on stand-by at the hotel and they are searching for her as we speak." Nodding, we all rushed to the hotel. Walking into the lobby, we saw no sign of Vi anywhere. I saw our men being discrete as they looked in the bar, restaurant, and elevators as they opened. Looking all over, we heard a few muffled screams coming from the stairway. Heading in that direction, we were going as fast as we could, hoping we were not too late.

Hearing that voice made me quiver with fear. My body froze as my mind was racing on what to do. Everything in my body was telling me to run, but my feet would not listen. Standing there in front of him brought all the horrible memories back. As I finally got the courage to move, I felt a hand clasp down on my upper left arm. Turning around, he was now chest to chest with me.
"Get the hell off me!" I cried out as I struggled to pull my hand from his grasp.
"Not in a million years." He hissed with a smirk. "We're gonna finish what we started." He moved in closer, lips mere inches from mine. No, no, no. I can't believe this is happening again.
"Hell no!" I reached up, slapping him with my free hand. His grip got tighter on my arm as his face lit up with pure rage. I winced in pain, but did not show it on my face. They were not going to see that girl anymore. I have grown stronger these past 18 months. I was not that girl any longer.
"You're going to pay for that!" He growled, yanking me even closer to him. Hearing my name being called, I snapped my head around.
"M-" I tried screaming, only to have a hand clamp down on my mouth muffling the rest. Wiggling in his arms, I tried everything I could to break his hold, but it was no use. He was much stronger than I was. I felt myself being pulled back as I scanned the lobby for where Mike was. Tears ran down my face as I was pulled into a dark, isolated hallway. Seeing Mike, Nicole, and Alex run past, I tried screaming again, only to have my cries muffled. There goes my only chance at getting
away.
Looking out the crack in the door, I watched as they walked back to the elevator. I felt a sense of defeat flood through me. I was right there and they could not see me. If only I could get away from him right now, I could be in Mike's arms in a matter of moments. I had to think of something to do so that I could get away from him. Looking over at the elevators, I saw no one standing there. As I was thinking of how to get away, an ever too familiar voice rang through my ears, giving me chills.
"Good job Cody." I looked up to see a smirking Ted. What would I give to slap that smug look off his face? If only I could see some of my dad's men, I would have a chance.
"NO!" I screamed, only to have it muffled. Swinging my shoulders, I was able to loosen Cody's hold on me. Raising my elbow, I hit him right in the face, not caring about the damage I caused. Looking over at Ted, his face was red with anger. As Cody leaned over holding his face, I tried to run, only to be grabbed by Ted. Raising my knee, I gave him a swift kick to the groin, sending him down to the floor. Making my way to the stairs, since the elevator would take too long, I busted through the doors as I ran up the stairs. As I was about to open the door on the next floor, I heard screams coming from the bottom.
"Violet!!!" Ted hissed, pure rage in his voice. I knew I had to get away or things would not be too easy. Reaching the floor I wanted, I pushed the door open, only to bump into someone.
Mike
Rushing over to where the screaming was coming from, I looked in disappointment as we found two young children playing around. I really thought it was Vi. Standing there, I ran my fingers through my now messy hair. I felt horrible. How could I have let this happen? I can not lose her again. I plan on getting her back and making him pay for everything that he has done to her. Shaking from all the anger and emotions running through me, I forgot about Nicole and Alex until I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"It's going to be okay Mike..." Nicole tried calming me down.
"No it's not!" I yelled in anger. "She is gone and it's all because of me!" I felt the warmth of tears hitting my cheeks. I messed up big this time. The boss would kill me if anything ever happened to her. I have been looking after her for her entire life and I was not going to stop. You'd have to kill me first.
"Mike stop!" Nicole demanded. She was so lucky she was Vi's family or I would have put a bullet in her for talking to me that way. "It's not your fault! It's no one's fault! He is just delusional and doesn't know when to stop. He is obsessed with her." She added, shaking her head.
"Well, we need to find her before he can do anything else." I stated, as I began walking toward the elevator. Hitting the button, I waited for the doors to open before getting in and heading to our floor. I took out my phone to see what the guys found. What I saw had my blood boiling.
