YBTM | Chapter 30
**Mike**
The moment we set foot outside, the bullets began to rain down all around. I took cover behind the first thing I saw. I quickly scanned my surroundings to see Alex off to my left and our men all around taking cover as they shot at the other men. I turned my attention in front of me to see Ted holding Vi in front of him as he shot wildly at our men. I couldn't wait to put a bullet in that motherfucker's head. If anything happened to Vi, there would be hell to pay. Little did Ted know; we still had the snipers on the rooftops.
"Anyone have a clear shot?" Someone spoke through the earpiece.
"No, he has the girl in the way." Another said.
"No one shoots unless I give the word!" I barked over the earpiece.
The shooting was still going on and didn't seem to be stopping any time soon. I kept Vi in my peripheral while I focused on taking down as many of the opposing men as I could. After seeing his men go down one by one, I was getting more and more confident. That was when I heard Vi scream. I looked over to see her over that asshole's shoulder as he tried to run while his men covered him. I tried to take down as many as I could as I slowly inched my way forward. "Alex, cover me. I'm going in." I instructed.
Hearing him give me the okay, I made my way around our men and toward where Vi was being led. As I was about to turn a corner, I heard something and felt a searing burn on my left bicep.
"Son of a bitch!" I grunted. I was about to turn when I heard a shot.
"I got him! Go!" Alex said over the earpiece.
Taking a deep breath, I pushed the pain to the back of my mind as I continued to follow them. As the sounds of bullets being fired became fewer and fewer, I knew we were winning by the updates I was receiving through the earpiece. Soon, I was informed it was only Ted and one other that were left. The man who followed him for cover.
"Anyone have eyes on them?" I asked as I peeked around a corner.
"Around the corner and about 100 yards to the right."
I snuck a quick glance before leaning back against the wall, checking the chamber of my gun and taking a deep breath. Holding the gun around the corner first, I slowly made my way around the corner and kept my back against the wall. I did that until I reached another corner and heard squealing tires.
"Mike, you need to hurry!"
"Fuck!" I grunted as I made my way around the corner. As I turned the corner, I saw the dick opening the car door and trying to push Vi inside. My blood boiled as I raised my gun and shot his bodyguard in the forehead.
"I don't think so, DiBiase!" I turned my gun on him as he glared back at me with hatred in his eyes. "This ends now!" **Violet**
The further we got away from the sound of shooting, the more hope I lost. If we were to get away, this would be the end for me. I would rather die than be with Ted for the rest of my life. "They're almost here, boss." I heard one of his henchmen say from behind us.
The feeling of dread consumed me when I heard that. I kept trying to look behind us to see if anyone was coming and no one was. I had the gut feeling that his men were winning and ours were not. Tears sprang to my eyes at the thought of Mike not making it. Even though he said those awful things, deep in my heart I knew he didn't mean any of it. I let my head fall in defeat and noticed we were headed across a parking lot. Ted's hold on me was still tight and my legs and arms burned from all the kicking and punching I was doing. Hearing tires screech, I snapped my head up. This was it. The end for me.
"Cover me while I get her in the car." Ted barked over his shoulder as he placed me on my feet next to the SUV.
"No!" I pushed the door, trying to prevent it from opening.
"You're going to get in and you're going to listen." Ted leaned down and gritted in my ear as he placed his gun in the small of my back.
"Fuck you!" I spat, trying to push as hard as I could. He could shoot me now for not listening. I didn't care. If I couldn't be with Mike, I wanted to be with no one else.

"If you say-" Ted started when we heard a shot I go off.
I felt Ted shift behind me, and I took a glance over my shoulder to see his guy on the ground with a hole in his head. I looked down at him in shock, when Ted spun me around and placed me in front of him. Everything was blurry and fuzzy as I was trying to comprehend what was going on. It wasn't until Ted put the gun under my chin and made me look up that I realized his hand was around my waist and we were looking back at Mike. I could hear muffled voices and Ted's body shaking. It felt like I wasn't here, but I was. Right in the middle of a battle that I never wanted to happen. I was in so much shock, I didn't feel the moment Ted let go of me. I fell to the ground with a thud, hitting my shoulder and knee on the SUV on my way down.
"Vi!" I heard from the distance, everything still sounding muffled as my head was pounding. "Vi!"
I shook my head and was able to push myself up, so I was on my side when I saw a figure rushing over to me. I flinched when I saw them reach down toward me.
"I got you Angel." I heard faintly from above me. I looked up through tear-filled eyes to see Mike looking down at me with a worried expression.
"Mike?" I croaked out, not realizing how hoarse my voice was from all the yelling I had been doing.
"Yes, Angel. It's me." He flashed me a smile as he ran his fingers over my cheek. "Are you hurt?" He asked as he looked over me.
"No-" I started to say when I saw movement behind us. "Mike!" I yelled as I saw Ted standing there with his gun pointed at the back of Mike's head.
"She's mine!" Ted gritted out.
When I saw his finger twitch around the trigger, I saw something under Mike's shirt. Not knowing where the courage or confidence came from, I reached for it and raised it in the air and pulled the trigger. As soon as Ted went down, I got on my knees and kept pulling the trigger until the gun w3as making clicking noises.
"Angel." I heard Mike's soft voice. I looked up to see him with his hand on the gun, pushing it down. "It's over." He whispered, running his fingers through my hair.
At that moment, I broke down and all the tears came flowing from my eyes. I felt Mike pull me to him as I sobbed into his chest as he did his best to soothe me. After letting everything out, I started to sniffle and pulled back, wiping my eyes. "It's over?" I looked at him with hopeful eyes. I was hoping this was not a dream and it really was over.
"Yes, it's all over." He leaned forward and kissed my forehead.
I felt my heart swell at being in his arms again. This was all I had wanted for months, and it was finally happening. I couldn't quite believe it yet, since it all still felt so surreal. It wasn't until I heard voices behind Mike that I knew it was finally
over.
"Everyone has been taken out." I looked up to see Alex and a few other men walking toward us.
"See Angel. You're safe." Mike looked back into my eyes with a loving and relieved look.
It was then that I leaned into him and placed my cheek on his chest. I started to run my hands up his arms to wrap them around his neck to pull him closer did I feel something sticky. I pulled my hand back and lifted my head and saw blood on my fingers.
"Mike." I looked at him in panic. "You're shot."
"I'm fine Angel." He chuckled as he shook his head. "Let's go home."
"Home." I said with a longing feeling. I couldn't wait to be home and put all this behind us and start a new life.
*I have a feeling this is going to be the last chapter. I may write an epilogue, but I am not sure. I most likely will to see how they are doing down the road and see if Violet got closure.*
