Chapter 40
Chapter 40 Realization
Edith was stunned, and then she patted her forehead.
“Oh, right. Kaylah, that good–for–nothing, has already gone away. I should call the nanny to clean it
up.”
After Hendry noticed what Edith called Kaylah, his eyebrows twitched.
“Mom, do you usually boss Kaylah around like that?”
Edith noticed her son’s gaze and felt a little guilty for a moment.
However, when she remembered that Kaylah had already divorced her son, she became firm again.
“What are you talking about? Anyway, she has nothing to do at home all day. What’s wrong with me asking her to help clean up
the house?”
Seeing that Hendry kept a straight face and did not speak, Edith was a little afraid.
Then she whispered, “I used to do housework too. It’s normal for a daughter–in–law to take care of
her in–laws.”
Hendry’s face instantly turned cold.
He glanced at the kitchen. No one was there. He didn’t see any hearty breakfast on the dining table.
There were only a few pieces of hard bread that were casually thrown to the side.
“My wife is not here to be your servant.”
Edith raised her head in displeasure and wanted to complain about something, but she met Hendry’s exceptionally cold gaze.
Hendry did not say anything more to Edith. He left the house with a cold face.
He was upset.
He had already realized that when Kaylah was at his home, she had probably not been treated well.
Kaylah had a husband who did not care about her, in–laws who treated her as a servant, a sister–in–law who often found fault
with her, and a mistress who kept sending messages to provoke her.
It was hard to imagine that this was actually Kaylah’s daily life in the Lowery family.
If it was anyone else, they would probably not be able to endure it even for one day, but Kaylah had endured for three whole
years with her love for Hendry.
However, what did Hendry do to Kaylah?
He didn’t trust her and even hated her because he heard bad things about her from others. He forced her to give her kidney to
Alondra. It was not enough to make her work for the Lowery family. He even trampled on her dignity.
No wonder Kaylah couldn’t stand it and so readily asked for a divorce. She didn’t even want any compensation. She couldn’t wait
to escape from him.
Hendry revealed a mocking smile. He never thought that he would make a woman so helpless.
As he drove all the way to the company, he felt distressed and there was no way to dispel it.
When he returned to the company, before he entered the office, Rayan hurried out to greet him.
“Hendry, I found out something about what happened yesterday.”
When Rayan met Hendry’s gloomy face, he was instantly shocked and immediately changed the way he addressed him.
“Mr. Lowery.”
Hendry said as he walked to his office, “What is it?”
“The person yesterday was indeed Zion. As for Kaylah... she is not related to Zion by blood.”
For some reason, when he heard that Kaylah was not the daughter of the Delgado family that they thought she was, Hendry
actually heaved a sigh of relief.
It was not that he was afraid that Kaylah would come back for revenge, but something else.
If Kaylah was really the daughter of the Delgado family, then the three years of marriage with Hendry were no different from hell
for Kaylah.
Hendry admitted that he was despicable. At this time, he actually thought that if Kaylah was not a member of the Delgado family,
perhaps he still had a chance to fix things up.
“How did you find out? Why are you so sure?”
“I checked around. Zion’s biological sister is called Kay Delgado. She went abroad three years ago and hasn’t returned yet.”
Rayan sat down in the office and shared all the information she had found with Hendry.
“Kayson Consortium is named for Kay by Zion. Zion really dotes on his sister. I heard that when Kay was eighteen years old, he
bought an uninhabited island as a birthday present for her. He even bought a private plane and a large villa for her. He simply
treats his sister like she is a princess.”
“Are you telling the truth?” Hendry’s heart skipped a beat.
