Chapter 836
Cedric was taken aback when he heard himself call this stunning woman "ma'am." The two security guards exchanged a knowing glance and quietly slipped away from behind Cedric, as if trying to disappear before the CEO could metaphorically boot them all the way to Timbuktu. Cedric shot them a brief look but quickly returned his attention to more pressing matters, assuming the guards had merely shared an elevator ride with Lizetta. After all, with his vivid imagination, it was beyond him to fathom that the CEO's favorite could be subjected to such an outrageous attempt at expulsion right in their own company.
"Are you here for me? Let's head up..." Remington's lips curved into a subtle smile as he extended his hand towards Lizetta. She glanced at her watch-it was already the end of the workday, and their dinner appointment wasn't far off. Clearly, Remington mistook her early arrival for eagerness to meet for their date. Noticing the attention from those around them, Lizetta responded, "I'd rather not go up."
Having worked as an office clerk in the CEO's office before, she was more well-known there than in other departments. Most people in the CEO's office recognized her, and going up now would inevitably lead to awkward encounters and explanations to her former colleagues. Remington nodded understandingly at her reluctance. "Alright, then wait for me in the lobby. I'll just grab something upstairs and be right back."
He turned to instruct Cedric to ensure Lizetta was comfortable in the lobby, perhaps offering her some coffee or snacks. But Lizetta tugged at Remington's sleeve, "No need to bother, I'll just wait outside." After the scene that had just unfolded, Lizetta had no desire to stay in the lobby and be the center of attention. With that, she let go of Remington and started walking out.
Remington, in high spirits and eager to dine with his beloved, didn't think much of it. Cedric, understanding his boss's mood, immediately pressed the elevator button. Just then, the private elevator doors slowly opened. Remington stepped inside, where he found President Winters, who had just escorted Stella to the underground parking lot and watched her leave. Upon seeing Remington, President Winters quickly greeted him and was about to step out. This was the CEO's private elevator, but Remington allowed top executives to use it. Normally, they would step aside when encountering Remington, but today he seemed in an exceptionally good mood. He nodded slightly towards President Winters, signaling him to stay.
President Winters was momentarily taken aback, realizing the CEO was allowing him to remain in the elevator, which elated him. He thought it must be because he had facilitated things for the company's future "first lady," earning Remington's favorable view. But everything was happening so quickly. He had just escorted Ms. West to the parking lot minutes ago; had the news already reached the CEO's ears? Perhaps Ms. West had called Remington right after getting into her car? Seizing the opportunity, President Winters boldly moved closer to Remington and cheerfully said, "Don't worry, CEO. The injury on Ms. West's hand was treated right in front of me. It's just a minor scratch and will heal quickly. The two individuals responsible for Ms. West's injury have been dealt with accordingly. I assure you they won't be allowed near Starlight Group again, preventing any unpleasant encounters for Ms. West."
