Shattered Illusions: Love, Lies, and Redemption ( Lizetta )

Chapter 432

"Lizetta, who gave you the nerve to interrupt your mother-in-law? And where's Remington? He's nowhere to be seen," Hanna complained with embarrassment and annoyance.

Lizetta clasped her hands together, her voice calm, "Remi will be here any minute now, no need for you to worry."

She then turned her gaze to the two bodyguards trailing behind Hanna, suggesting, "Please, Mrs. Hanna Dashiell, proceed to the banquet hall to rest."

The bodyguards were specifically tasked by Remington to keep an eye on Hanna, to prevent her from doing anything stupid.

Though Hanna was Remington's mother and they hesitated to intervene based solely on her harsh words, Lizetta's instruction was clear and they promptly stepped forward to escort Hanna away.

Holding back her rage, Hanna shot Lizetta a glare, her voice sharp, "All the guests have arrived, and there's no sign of Remington. And you're still here relaxing? Don't you know you should be welcoming the guests?"

"I will, please go ahead," Lizetta replied, her tone neutral.

With that, Hanna turned and stormed off, but Shirley lagged behind, sneering at Lizetta, "Married for two years and suddenly deciding to have a wedding? That's quite the joke! Let me guess, Remi only agreed because of the baby, no wonder he's not showing up."

"Shirley, your mouth must've been pickling in a trash can for years; why else would it stink so much!"

Lucian walked over, grabbing Shirley by the arm and dragging her away.

Shirley was indignant but recalling the last time Remington had her drink hot sauce as punishment, leaving her with a swollen mouth and two weeks of diarrhoea, she didn't dare linger.

"Lucian, Remi's not here yet; why don't you accompany Liz to welcome the guests?" Camille instructed, and Lucian nodded, not giving Lizetta a chance to refuse.

Normally, welcoming the guests was a task for the bride, groom, and their families. Thus, Lizetta, along with Lucian and Yolanda, headed to the entrance of the banquet hall. Meanwhile, a Gulfstream G550 private jet finally landed.

The cabin door opened, and Remington was the first to step out, cradling Stella, who was still battling a fever. Medical personnel were already waiting on the tarmac. They immediately approached, and Remington handed Stella over to the medical team, while the latter, as if sensing his departure, clutched tightly at his hand.

Turning back, Remington saw Stella weakly open her eyes, her dry lips moving, her voice rough, "Don't go."

Fear and anxiety filled her eyes, her condition evidently poor.

Remington hesitated, unwittingly glancing at his watch before offering Stella a reassuring smile, saying, "Stella, don't be scared. The medical team will take good care of you, and I've already arranged everything at the hospital.

Your dad is waiting for you there; you'll be with your family soon. This place is safe, trust me. Just close your eyes and rest, okay?"

However, Stella's anxiety only heightened at his reassurance, trying to sit up from the stretcher.

"Where is this place? I don't want to be left alone. Are you leaving me here?"

Her panic was palpable. A mix of helplessness and frustration in Remington's gaze, but Stella's last question struck a chord. Sixteen years ago, he had indeed left her alone to face danger, leading to years of hardship.

With a hoarse voice, Remington sat beside her, gently saying, "I won't leave you behind, rest assured. Just close your eyes."
