Sharp

Chapter • Rumor •

My last class is gym class which I dreaded the most. Wanting to just leave school already but couldn’t since I was required to be in the class for a grade.

There was no other class I had with Tony. I would have to wait until tomorrow to see him again. That made the rest of my classes even more dreadful. His random appearance in my life made me go crazy. Anticipating his arrival into my others class but it never happened.

When changing for gym class, everyone near by glances as normal. Making me feel uncomfortable and trying my best to keep whatever body part covered as much as I could.

“Did you hear about the new student? His name is Tony. He is so attractive, yet the only person he’s talk to so far is that thing.” I could tell she was referring to me. It was the same girl who sat behind me. The one that trying to tell him I was a freak.

“Eww, who would want to talk to her.” Her friend said loudly. A few other girls laughed when hearing the comment.

Still on my high horse from earlier, I didn’t let it bother me as much as it would have any other day. Yet I could feel one of them get closer to me. Turning around to see who it was.

It’s the girl who sits behind me in chemistry. Her name is Misty.

She gave me a devious laugh and took the bottle of perfume from behind her back and sprayed it in my eye.

Shrinking in pain from the alcohol burning my eyes, I covered my eyes with my hands as I fall to the ground. The smell overcame my scenes and was having a hard time breathing through the honey & vanilla body spray.

I could hear everyone laughing at me as I burned to breath right and to be able to see without my eyes scorching in pain. Everyone stood there watching me ready to cry.

All of a sudden, Misty kicked me hard in my side. Hitting my left rib. Sending a large painful shock through my whole body. What made her feel the need to hurt me like this. Unprovoked. I wasn’t ready to defend myself and I was ready to wash my eyes out with tears. Flushing the alcoholic spray out of my eyes.

I began to cry as the girls in the locker room laughed. I was stuck where I sat. Eyes closed and my pain screaming at me.

She kicked me one more time sending a much harder shock into my side. This time it didn’t hit my ribs but felt like my inner organs were contracting from the sudden pain. Enough to worry about internal bleeding. As everyone continued to laugh. Their voices disappeared out of the locker room.

I began to feel worried if I was going into a panic attack or pass out since the voices started to become harder to hear. That or they were finally leaving me alone and leaving the room.

To scared to open my eyes and my muscles were so tensed, ready for another blow if it were to strike. Tears were still flushing my eyes which made the sting hurt a little less. Though my face was flooded in tears. My hands covering my face were drenched in the same tears cleaning my eyes from the body spray.

As my muscles tense, I could feel a hand go to my waist to pick me up. This strong body lifting me startled me, thinking I was going to get struck another time.

My body relaxed when I didn’t feel more pain being bestowed to me. My hands still covered my face as these gentle arms settled me on the metal bench in the bench to the right.

“Are you alright?” It was him.

My eyes expanded suddenly, the pain of the spray was still lingering and made me blind a few times.

I could see he looked very upset. You could tell he felt sad for me. It was written all over his face.

“How did you know.” I began coughing, had forgotten the spray had interfered with my breathing and I would breath well enough to talk.

“Why did they hurt you? Who did this.” He was no longer sad. His face looks intense and raged. Yet how did he know that I was in her in pain and needing of help.

“It doesn’t matter,” I coughed a few times. “I’m in so much pain.” I held my left side. He looked down in understanding.

Picking me up quickly and he began heading my pained body out of the girls locker room. I assumed he was taking me to the nurses office. Even the nurses didn’t care about me. His mistake was going to turn into a rude awakening. I let him continue but my arrival there was not going to be welcomed.

I was still wear a gym shirt and my black and white tights. I didn’t have enough time to put on my gym shorts to be covered up. Glad my tights weren’t grandparents but a bend at the knee with thin the fabric out to become see through. He carried me as a man would when taking his wife into a room after their wedding. At least I’ve seen in some movies.

I felt so little in his arms, so light. Carrying me without and problem. It felt amazing in his arms I could fall asleep. How was I was so lucky to have him hold me. All of those girls would have their jaws dropped from the sight of this.

The nurses office wasn’t far from the gymnasium, so we arrived in a short time. Wishing it was further so I could stay in his arms longer.

“She’s been beat up, can you help her.” He announced to the two nurses standing outside of the nurses office. They both glanced at one other and looked back towards us. You could tell they were pleased to see me coming their way.

They gestured Tony to take me into the office. He was not ready to slow down until I got help. We get into the room and luckily no one else was being attended to while I was in the room.

He began to place me on the cold plastic bed with a paper sheet sitting on top. Putting me down so softly to ensure I wasn’t going to get hurt on my way down.

“Thank you for taking her here, you can go.” The nurse at the door waited for him to leave.

“No, I will wait for her to be assisted immediately.” He could sense the lack of urgency from the nurses and demanded them to help me immediately. They still moved slowly and weren’t eager help my pain.

“So, what happened.” She said with her eyes shifted. Whatever I would say would make her question me. Not in a caring manner. She judged me like everyone else.

“Well, a student sprayed me with body spray and began kicking me when I fell to the ground in pain.” My breathing was getting better but my voice was so raspy.

“Okay.” She walked away from me and proceeded to the large medicine cabinet that sat inbetween the bed I was laying on and the nurses desk.

She pulled a single ibuprofen packet to give me for my pain.

“Here take this and you’ll be fine.” I take it from her wrinkled hand.

“I’m sorry, what!” He yelled in disbelief, “You aren’t going to file a incident report? You aren’t even going to call a dean down here to see that the student get suspended for hurting her. Not even giving her water to wash down with the tablet.” He looked at the nurse helping me.

“What is the matter with you? Would you wish that you be treated the same when you’ve beat up for no reason?” The nurse shook her head. As if she was being disciplined by him. She knew how she was treating me and how it was not okay. Yet she did it anyways. I was lucky for Tony to stand up for me. She would have done the exact procedure he listed for any other student. Except, this student was me. And no one likes me. Even the deans would just push the situation to the side.

Yet, Tony was adamant that I was treated fairly and properly. Where did this guy come from? I swear I could have been dreaming this whole day. It literally feels like it has been taken out of a fairy tale.

The nurse did as he said and began filing an incident report. At that moment, Tony was on his way out.

“Wait!” I tried getting up to chase after his but my side sent so much pain and the nurse pushed me to sit back down.

“I don’t think so. You need to sit down.” She wasn’t gentle about pushing me back down on the bed. Shrinking in more pain.

“So who did this to you,” looking at her paper motionless. “And when did this happen and where?”

“Never mind. It’s not a big deal.” Still trying to get up again but get pushed down another time.

“Do I need to get the dean in here to have you cooperate?” Her face looked so unpleasant, “You’re friend expects things to get taken care of properly. So, that we will.”

Unfortunately, I no longer wanted the help of the nurse. If it were my choice, I would have just went home and had just taken medicine at home.

After saying every detail that was asked. I began to feel uneasy. What will happens if I get hurt again. Since she will get reprimanded for beating me up.

Misty will most likely be unable to continue as cheerleader. Which will cause an avalanche of beatings to me. The butterflies began flapping inside and I wasn’t anticipating coming back to school anymore. Tony forced me and now I’m scared for my life. These girls are savage. As if they are prey in the wild.
