Shadows In Durango

Chapter 46

*****Vincent's POV*****

"Please just let me go! Please! I just wanted more drugs, he said we wouldn't touch the girl! I thought we would just demand some money and leave or take her stuff to sell it on the block, but when we found her place empty, we realised there wasn't much for us to take until we got lucky and found the money. There's still a couple hundred dollars in my place on the top floor - you can give it back to her!" The other screams in fright, constantly turning to glance at his now dead friend beside him.

It was amusing to see him so terrified and worked up, especially after they had made Sofia feel the same way.

"You didn't think twice about what that would put her through?!" I grit out, as he blinks his yellow crusted eyes frantically.

"N-No... but we were drunk too... that's what we do when we can't afford the good shit, we just drink cheap vodka... but that only makes the drug cravings worse! We would do anything at that point to get what we need - it's a horrible fucking habit man, trust me!" He pleas, as I glance back at Quade who looks bored now.

"You picked the wrong girl." I shake my head as the tears roll down his desperate face.

Funnily enough, I felt that he didn't need any extravagant torture methods, the fear of our conversation alone was seeming to be torture enough for him.

"Know what Quade? I have an idea!" I announce suddenly, causing the guy to swallow the lump forming in his throat.

"What?" Quade amuses my chain of thought as I smirk knowing it was probably the best suitable punishment for him.

"His punishment will be staying here as we force him to go cold turkey! A total drug detox! How does a month or two sound?" I hum, as his lip trembles and he sobs harder.

This seems to take the biggest toll on him, but who knew how he would turn out in the end after this? He might even live a better life... I'm doing him a favour here!

"I'll die! I won't survive cutting all the shit out completely! I'll need some lighter stuff to ease me off... you don't get it!" He yells the last part, flustered by what I was suggesting.

It was a crazy thing to watch, seeing how much control drugs could have over the way somebody thinks and feels. He was desperate to keep using, believing that he would die without it as opposed to dying from the number of issues caused by it...

It was fucked up to say the least... but I was excited for my new challenge.

"It's either we keep you here for the detox or you die? I'll give you five minutes alone to think over your options and I'll be back!" I smile sadistically, turning on my heels and heading back upstairs having had a couple of missed calls from Daryl and that little fucker Reid.

Quade follows me up, leaving him completely alone to simmer under the pressure, laughing and shaking his head.

"How did you even come up with that? It's fucking brilliant! Forcing him to come off drugs!" Quade laughs, as I smile knowingly and we gain the attention of Leroy.

"What about the other one? I'm guessing he wouldn't surrender? I heard his screams..." Leroy raises a brow as I nod, unlocking my phone.

Between all of our guys, we could easily take shifts at monitoring him downstairs through his detox. I wasn't completely heartless, I guess you could say I seen a better side to him compared to the other guy, and for that I would give him a chance.

This moment could change his life forever... either that or it would make him worse.

We would give him what he needs to get through it, but only the necessities of what he needs. Nothing more, nothing less.

Clicking to call Daryl back first, I place the phone to my ear and listen to it ring twice.

"Where are you?" Daryl asks right away, his questioning tone causing me to grumble.

Who was he? My fucking Mother?!

"Dealing with the shits that broke into Sofias place, why? Where are you?" I ask him back, waiting for his response as I spin my gold ring around on my middle finger impatiently.

"Headed to your place, is Sofia still there?" He then asks, as I scowl at his eagerness to step in as the super hero.

That was always the deal, he was Prince Charming and I was the villain - the hotter one at that.

"She is, but don't be trying to hump her on my sofa while I'm gone you fucking pervert!" I retort, hearing him suddenly laugh, caught off guard by the statement.

"Yeah, yeah, sure! I'll see you when you get back here." He states, before I don't say another word and instead just cut the call.

Sure I didn't enjoy the fact he was going to be there with Sofia alone, but I also liked knowing somebody would be there at least for all of the worst case scenarios that most likely would never happen - he could keep an eye on her. I click a few buttons next, returning to my call log to find Reid's name.

This time, he surprisingly picks up in one ring, breathing out down the phone as I wait for him to speak first.

"Vin?! Vincent you there? I want to talk." He starts, as I move towards the kitchen to retrieve a bottle of water from the fridge.

"Speak." I state bluntly, giving him one chance to properly apologise for how he had acted.

Reid wasn't the type to ever say sorry, he was the opposite. If people thought I was stubborn then they hadn't met or spent any time with Reid before...

"Look Vincent, I don't ever say this and I'll only say this once, but I'm sorry bro, ok? You hear me? I apologise for how I treated the girl... I've realised now that you obviously really like her and I was an ass." Reid's words sound forced, because they probably are, as I begin to smile at the fact he had even allowed them to leave his lips.

Deciding to torture him a little, I keep quiet, which only causes for him to groan loudly in protest.

"VINCENT QUIT IT! Look, I'll even say sorry to the girl too, alright?!" He pushes on, as I suddenly laugh which causes for a breath of relief to leave him through the line.

"I forgive you, just don't act up like that again! She's been through enough without your jackass annoying her! But listen, I need to go, make sure you stick to that apology and all is forgiven - cool?" I tell him, knowing that Reid was one of my old time friends.

Despite how he acted sometimes...

Saying a quick goodbye, I turn to motion for Quade to rejoin me downstairs, as he stands from the sofa beside Leroy and follows my lead.

We trek back downstairs, finding the guy breathing heavily.

"Water?" I offer, holding it out to him as he nods and opens and closes his dry mouth.

"But first, what will it be? Detox or death?" I pry, as he blunders and fixates his eyes on the water.

"Detox! I'll do it! Or at least I'll try! Just please give me the water!" He begs, as I smirk and crack the lid, putting it up to his mouth as he drinks it back hungrily with his arms still restrained.

He chose to detox... how very interesting for me!
