Chapter 66
"I'm sorry, Trevor. I just wanted to massage your shoulders."
Leah felt overwhelmed by his reaction. "What the heck? A goddess like me never had to take the initiative before. I can't believe I'm getting rejected!" she thought.
"It's fine. You can go out first. I still have some matters to attend to," Trevor maintained an aloof attitude and ordered her to leave.
Meanwhile, Leah stood there with a pale face. Although she felt indignant, she could only smile awkwardly and respond with a gentle voice, "All right, then. I'll wait for you outside." Then, she left the room and closed the door behind her.
"How much did Martin pay you?" Trevor looked at Jessica with a darkened gaze.
"He didn't give me any." Jessica decided against explaining, not willing to take the risk if he would buy her story. After all, there was no way she could hide it from him.
"Why did you choose to help him?" For some reason, he decided to believe that she was not after money.
He could not find a trace of hint that she was lying in her gaze or expression.
"I thought he could help me have more chances to get closer to Bennett."
Right after she finished talking, Trevor's eyes widened. "She wants to meet with Bennett? Could she really be Jessica? If that's the case, it's no wonder she wants to meet Bennett. It's normal for a mother to miss their child, after all." he thought. "Why? Or perhaps you're..."
Before he could finish his sentence,
he was cut off by Jessica, "It's because I like Bennett. Rumors are flying around that he's a genius,
everyone aspires to be the
director's..." She felt too

embarrassed to continue her
sentence. However, she could only
continue determinedly,
"Everyone wants to be the director's daughter-in-law."
Upon hearing that, Trevor almost choked on his water. "They want to be my daughter-in-law? Am I hearing her correctly? Bennett is just nine-years-old, yet he's even more sought after than me in the company?" he wondered. "Tell the employees not to try anything on Bennett. I'll let this slide this time since you're Jessica's classmate, but there's no next time." Trevor inhaled a deep breath and returned to his seat, continuing to work.
He rarely rested and drowned himself in work, only stopping to eat. Whenever he stopped, Jessica's face would always float into his mind.
The words she said before she rushed into the middle of the busy road would replay in his mind.
Thus, he could not stop, nor could he rest.
Jessica did not dare to say anything else and got seated. Then, she started to do administrative work. She mused to herself, "I don't care as long as he buys my excuses, have to make do with him for a few more days. Then, I'll find a random excuse and resign. If I leave right now, it'll just make me look guilty, and Trevor might even get suspicious."
The sky was getting darker, and more and more employees of various internet companies arrived at the island. The once quiet atmosphere became livelier with their arrival.
Many champagne towers were located around the island, and many invited celebrities soon arrived. It could be said that it was an employee benefit for those who were their fans.
In the office, Jessica stood in front of the window. While staring at the celebrities being surrounded as they walked up to the island, her eyes darkened.
Although she was not a celebrity, she was also once at the center of attention as the top socialite of Horington.
"You can head down first if there's a
celebrity that you like. I'll ask
someone to find you if I have something," Trevor said flatly white gripping his pen motionlessly, staring at her faraway look as she
stood in front of the window.
