Chapter 3
Chapter3
He put the call on speaker.
"Jake, where are you now? Your wife is in trouble and needs surgery, get back here immediately!"
I thought he would at least hesitate when he heard his superior's call.
But unexpectedly, Jake said in a deep voice:
"Mr. Larson? Did Jessica find you and go crazy again? Don't believe anything she says, she's a lunatic now! She fights with me at home every day, I'm a doctor, I can't just let people die because of her!"
"If I had been even a minute late today, the patient would have slit her wrists. She's still emotionally unstable!"
"Let Jessica go through with the delivery, and please explain it to her for me. If she really doesn't listen, forget it, believe it or not!"
Mr. Larson didn't expect Jake to have this attitude, gritting his teeth to prevent himself from exploding on the spot.
The veins on his forehead were bulging with anger.
But the next second, just as he was about to speak, Emily's weak voice came from the other end.
"Is that Mrs. Parker looking for you? Are you leaving? Then I'll be all alone again, right? Well, your child is about to be born, it's my fault that I haven't let go of you yet..."
Jake seemed to be afraid of me hearing it, and hung up the phone abruptly.
After a violent contraction, my vision went black, and I completely lost consciousness.
Mr. Larson hurriedly pushed me into the operating room.
In my coma, my thoughts seemed to drift back to my past life.
The first thing I did after the car accident in my last life was to call Jake for help.
He was on his way to find Emily at the time.
Hearing that I was in a car accident, he immediately turned around to save me.
He used all his strength to drag me out of the driver's seat.
Then he rushed into the emergency room with me, covered in blood.
He didn't relax until I was out of danger.
But the baby in my belly was stimulated and couldn't be delivered on time.
After he sent me home and rushed to find Emily, he only saw a cold body in the bathtub.
The wounds on her wrists were deep enough to see bone.
He said nothing and handled Emily's funeral alone.
When he appeared before me again, it was two days later.
He looked as if nothing had happened and calmly told me the news of Emily's death.
Meeting my guilty expression, he said he didn't blame me.
He said he realized the impermanence of life after this incident, so he couldn't wait to give me a make-up wedding. Looking at his sincere face, I chose to believe him.
But the night before the wedding, he knocked me unconscious and dragged me to Emily's house.
My limbs were tied up, and my body curled up in the bathtub where Emily had slit her wrists.
There was no trace of the love in his eyes that I used to know.
Only scarlet hatred and deep resentment remained.
His paranoid face resembled a madman who had lost the love of his life.
The dagger in his hand gleamed coldly under the light.
As I stared at him, on the verge of collapse, he slowly said:
"Do you know how deep her wounds were? Do you know how much blood she lost that day?"
"She was lying right here, in this position, the blood flowed down to her calves. I've been a doctor for so many years, and it was the first time I knew there was so much blood in a human body, so much that I couldn't see any other color in my eyes..." "It doesn't matter if you don't know, you'll find out soon."
After saying that, he placed Emily's portrait in front of the bathtub.
The moment the dagger pierced my body, I almost fainted from the pain.
But no matter how much I shook my head and cried, he remained indifferent.
The knife went up and down.
He raised the dagger and stabbed me and our child again and again.
His murmurs were like a ghost, like a madman.
"It was so deep, just at this position, she lost so much blood, Emily must have been in so much pain, she must have needed me so much at that time..."
Nearly a thousand cuts he inflicted on me and our child, I died.
After my death, he left our bodies in the bathtub.
He held Emily's ashes and held the wedding.
At that time, my soul was floating beside them, watching the crazy obsession in his eyes.
I finally realized my stupidity.
But it was too late.
I should have known long ago, from the moment Emily appeared on our wedding day seven years ago, from the moment he answered that phone call and abandoned me at the wedding. Even though he was the one who was dumped by Emily and came to me in the first place.
Compared to Emily, I still had no chance.
A wedding without a groom, a marriage without love, I blind myself alone for seven years. Now it finally ended in bloodshed.
