The door opened, and the two came out arm in arm. I was forced to follow.

They went to a hotel. It turned out to be their high school class reunion.

As soon as they entered the private room, someone whistled, "Oh, Ethan, Mia, you're here."

Their eyes darted ambiguously between the two's intertwined hands.

Someone joked, "Our class's golden couple is still together after all these years, huh?"

Someone whispered, "I thought I heard Ethan got married, and didn't Mia have a rich boyfriend?"

"You're out of the loop. Mia broke up with the rich guy last year.

He was just playing around with her, planning to go back home to get married."

"What about Ethan? Didn't they say he was married? When did they get together?"

Someone asked what I wanted to know most at that moment.

"Ah, he did get married. I heard after Mia broke up, she went to find him, and they got together."

"After al, who didn't know Ethan liked Mia back in school!"

Every word stabbed at my heart.

So, he had been cheating since last year, and I knew nothing about it.

So, I was just her substitute all along.

No wonder, no wonder sometimes when he looked at me, his gaze was distant, as if looking through me at something else. Hah, Ethan!
