Chapter Secret 29

Chapter 29 Freedom

The third floor was a captivating display of luxury, adorned in a pink castle style that enveloped Oona in the enchanting embrace of her fairy tale realm. As she wandered through, she couldn’t help but feel like a princess in her storybook adventure.

Observing the floor’s lavish design, Verona couldn’t conceal the twinge of envy that surged within her.

Despite enjoying the spotlight within the Walsh family, Verona couldn’t shake the feeling of being overshadowed by her

sister.

Verona couldn’t help but notice the stark difference in treatment in Lily’s presence. It was as if all the luxuries in the house were exclusively reserved for Lily, leaving Verona lingering in Lily’s glamorous shadow.

Verona begrudgingly conceded to her sister’s undeniable superiority despite nursing a simmering resentment.

But Oona, the wide–eyed country girl, was an anomaly.

Verona couldn’t understand how someone from such humble beginnings could revel in such luxuries.

The green monster of jealousy gnawed at Verona’s insides, consuming her with a fierce longing to dwell within the walls of

that castle herself!

Relaxing with a cup of chamomile tea delivered by a servant, Lauren offered reassurance, “Don’t fret, darling. Your grandmother has everything perfectly handled. Just sit back and watch as they’re ousted, left with nothing but the cold streets to call home!”

As her mother’s words washed over her, Verona felt a wave of relief flood through her.

Once expelled from the Walsh family, Oona’s value plummeted, and they were mercilessly ousted from Rosewood Manor. With property prices soaring in the northern city, they could find themselves squeezed into a cramped apartment, their once–grand lifestyle reduced to a mere memory.

The mere thought filled Verona with a sinister sense of satisfaction.

As Oona returned to Gustama Court, she couldn’t help but notice the gates swung wide open, welcoming a flurry of activity.

A car parked in the yard loomed large amidst the bustling scene. Movers hurried back and forth, efficiently ferrying furniture and belongings in and out of the house,

Oona frowned with concern. She swiftly emerged from the car, eyes scanning the scene with apprehension and resolve. She wasted no time instructing the driver to unload the trunk first, her voice firm with determination. She quickly gathered her bags and strode towards the entrance.

As she crossed the threshold, her gaze was immediately drawn to the figure of a man clad in a pristine white suit, his presence commanding amidst the bustling activity of the movers.

“Ensure these belongings are treated with the utmost care. No room for errors!” he directed firmly. However, upon noticing Oona carrying bags, he approached with a helpful demeanor, extending a hand of assistance. “Mrs. Goetz, welcome back. Why didn’t you let us pick you up? Those bags appear quite heavy. Allow me to lend a hand!”

Oona’s steely gaze locked onto his

Suddenly realizing he hadn’t properly introduced himself, Eddie swiftly approached Oona with a warm smile. “Mrs. Goetz, allow me to introduce myself. I’m Eddie Cooper, your butler. I’ll be overseeing both your and Mr. Goetz’s daily needs. Please, don’t hesitate to call on me for anything you require.

Oona narrowed her eyes, her gaze penetrating Eddie, before focusing on the movers. “Release them,” she commanded with authority.

Eddie promptly relayed the order to the movers, ensuring their swift departure with a flick of his wrist.

As the movers vanished from sight, Eddie flashed Oona a confident grin. “Mrs. Goetz, they’ve all cleared out.”

Oona’s steely stare bore into Eddie. “You may take your leave as well.”

Startled, Eddie’s demeanor shifted, his eyes pleading. “Mrs. Goetz, what have I done? Please, don’t send me away. I’ve got elderly parents and young kids to support. My entire livelihood rides on serving you and Mr. Goetz. Without this job, I’m nothing!”

Eddie couldn’t help but admire his performance, hoping it would be enough to sway Oona’s decision.
