Secret Scion

Chapter 171 -

Rose gritted her teeth and then said in a hurry, "Looks like you still haven't suffered enough." With that, she turned around and back into the room.

Selena could naturally hear what Asher said. She could not help but frown, and there were mixed emotions in her eyes.

"Aunt Selena, he won't leave." Rose was also observing Selena's expression when she told her that. She guessed that something must have happened between her and Asher.

"He won't stay here for long alone. Let's give him some time," Selena said.

Originally, Selena wanted to pay the bill and leave. She never thought that Asher would appear. She really did not want to see him, so she decided to wait for Asher to finish before leaving. However, she did not expect that after waiting for an hour, he was still there.

Selena's time was limited, and she was growing very annoyed as she had wasted an hour for nothing.

At this time, Rose then said, "Aunt Selena, should I get rid of him?"

Selena gave it a thought and said, "Fine. If he won't leave, I will." With that, she put on her sunglasses and cap. She made sure her cap covered her face. When she was sure that Asher could not recognize her, she immediately left the room.

When she went past Asher, Selena did not look at him at all. She simply wanted to leave as soon as possible.

"Even politicians have to pay after eating, right?"

At this time, Asher suddenly said something that made Selena stop dead in her tracks. She did not expect that Asher would still recognize her after she had covered herself up so thoroughly. She turned around and gave Asher an angry stare before leaving immediately.

"What politician, Mr. Asher?" The waiter asked curiously.

Asher turned around and glanced at Selena, whose figure was disappearing into the night. "I got it wrong. Her figure is not as good as Selena's, haha."

Outside the door, Selena almost missed her step when she heard what Asher had to say. Her face was slightly red, and she wished she could cut him into pieces.

Rose then came out of the room and told the waiter, "Don't ask too many questions. Go back to work."

The waiter let out a sheepish smile and quickly left.

Rose glanced at Asher and walked over, sitting in the chair next to Asher. She then asked him, testing him, "Asher, you've made her angry. Aren't you afraid that she'll get back at you? She's far more capable than anyone else. All she needs is a word to get rid of you."

Asher drank from his glass unhappily and then said, "Well, she has to be bold enough to do that in the first place."

Selena was not bold enough to?

That must be a joke. Even if Asher was not exiled by the Crawfords, Selena had no need to fear them, right?

Just where did his courage come from in saying things like this?

"I think you've overestimated yourself," Rose said.

"If you don't believe me, you can ask her about it."

"It's not that I don't believe you. No one will believe you... Unless you have dirt on her." Asher smiled, and Rose knew that she had hit the jackpot. She then asked with disbelief, "You really do have dirt on her? How's that possible?"

"If I told you that I've seen her body, would you believe me?" Asher said with a smile. "What?!" Rose almost darted up in shock. Not only was Selena the best female politician in politics, she was also the crush of many of the men within their circle. However, they were all fearful of Selena's identity, and no one dared to pursue her. Asher had seen her body? Rose chose to not believe him. He had to be spewing nonsense.

"Only fools would believe you." Rose gave Asher an annoyed glance. He really should keep his mouth shut. If Selena heard about it, she would strike Asher down with everything she had in her disposal.

Asher then continued as he poured himself a glass of wine, "Then tell me, why would she ignore me and yet hate me at the same time?"

Rose was stumped after Asher asked her that question. She could not help but recall the strange expression Selena had. It did not sound like Asher had made it up. If not, why would Selena blush?

When she thought of that, Rose then whispered, "You've really seen her body? When?"

"A very long time ago. I think she was still in university. There was this one time, she was sick and went to look for Layla's grandpa for treatment. I was at my aunt's place at the time."

What Asher said and Selena described matched.

Rose then said, "She did that willingly?"

Asher looked at Rose as if he was looking at an idiot. "What do you think?"

"You peeked?!"

"I needed to use the bathroom at the time. When I opened the bathroom door, she just happened to stand up. She hadn't put on her pants yet..."

When Rose heard that, she suddenly had the feeling that she was not wearing her pants too. She closed her eyes and then glared at Asher with great disdain. She snorted, "I knew you'd do something like that."

After Asher's explanation, Rose finally believed him. What he said fully matched what Selena had described. No wonder Selena would always change the subject whenever Asher's name came up. Asher rolled his eyes. Was it his fault because she did not lock the door when using the bathroom? However, he could not be bothered to explain himself and that made Selena believe that he had peeked on her intentionally.

"Why did you tell me this? You can keep it a secret, you know?" Rose said.

"It's upsetting keeping it all holed up inside."

"You're upset after taking advantage of a girl?"

"You'll never understand." Asher stood up and then paid the bill at the entrance.

After he had paid the bills, Asher then headed to the hotel. In the past, he did test Sebastian as well. It was not an exaggeration, but Sebastian had very few weaknesses. In fact, it might be easier to say that Sebastian had no weaknesses. However, only Selena could make Sebastian go berserk.

After that, when Sebastian found out that Asher had peeked at Selena, Sebastian even looked for him to teach him a lesson for Selena's sake.

The easiest way to deal with someone was to attack his weakness. And so, Asher wanted to make this public knowledge. It was best if he could use Rose to let Sebastian know about it and see how he would react.

Rose stood in front of the bar's entrance and looked at the figure leaving into the night. Only when Asher was almost out of sight did she chase after him and then said, "I'm going to get engaged soon. You should have received the invitation."

There were times when people would do something out of the ordinary without any specific reason. Rose felt that what she was doing right now made no sense at all. Asher had nothing to do with her engagement with Sebastian. Why would she bring it up?

After she said that, Rose regretted instantly. She then quickly said, "The invitation was his idea. It has nothing to do with me, since I don't want to see someone I dislike on my big day." Asher felt that Rose was being somewhat strange. Could it be that she felt he cared about her marriage?

"What a coincidence. I don't want to go to your engagement party anyway." With that, Asher turned and disappeared.

Rose stood there, stunned. Only when Asher had completely disappeared did she get so angry that she stomped the ground and yelled, "What the hell is wrong with you! As if I care whether you go or not!"

Rose suddenly felt very upset. She did not realize that lately, Asher would always be able to affect her mood. Of course, he only made her feel worse.

As per the local customs, the men had to prepare bride price for the women before the engagement. The most popular were the five golds: gold earrings, gold necklaces, gold rings, gold bracelets and gold anklets.

While Rose did not like these, and she did not care whether she received any of them or not, it was a local custom passed down from their ancestors. As such, she had to do it regardless of whether she liked it or not.

On the second day, Sebastian picked up Rose to get the things that they needed for the engagement. They started from ten in the morning, and they shopped until it was four in the evening. The entire ordeal took six hours, to the point where Rose could not stand it anymore. After that, Rose wanted to go home and rest.

Sebastian then said, "We're going to get engaged soon, aren't you going to let me accompany you more?"

Rose was shocked when she heard that. While Sebastian said that he wanted to accompany her, what he meant was that he wanted her to accompany him. When she saw that Sebastian was slightly unhappy, Rose then said with a smile, "I'm hungry. Let's go get something to eat, then." "Alright," Sebastian said with a nod.

Rose did not know why, but staying together with him for six hours was more than enough for

her.

Rose loved Western cuisine and white wine, and Sebastian knew that, and so he brought Rose to a famous restaurant serving Western food nearby.

When they were eating, Rose rarely spoke to Sebastian. It was not that she did not want to talk with him, but she simply could not find any common topic between them.

"I heard that you two met Asher last night, and he was even being disrespectful toward aunt Selena," Sebastian suddenly said.

Rose knew that Selena was the one who told him what happened. After some hesitation, she then nodded and said, "You know that he has a big mouth."

Sebastian put down his fork and knife, and then wiped his mouth with a paper tower. He then said, "Are you trying to help him?"

That was what it meant when someone was trying to find fault in the most casual of remarks.
