Saying Goodbye to My Troubles (Nydia and Mick)

Chapter My Troubles 17

Chapter 17

The situation unfolded suddenly.

People on the suspension bridge screamed, and chaos ensued. Nydia tightened her grip on Norman as Nelson grabbed her arm. The three of them were pushed around by the crowd, nearly falling into the water. Fortunately, the rescue team arrived in time. Some people stabilized the bridge while others cleared the crowd, and they managed to make it safely to shore.

"I heard a kid fell in, but the water's not that deep."

"That looks like a celebrity."

"Yeah, I remember now, she graduated from medical school and later entered the entertainment industry."

"Look, she's hurt but still trying to help others," someone commented.

"She's beautiful and kind-hearted."

Nydia then noticed a crowd gathered nearby, and it seemed someone was receiving first aid for water inhalation. As a doctor, she couldn't stand to see this, so she immediately moved toward the group. "Nelson, let's see if we can help," she said.

Nelson nodded, lifting Norman in his arms. "Got it."

They pushed through the crowd, and as soon as Nydia saw the situation, her face went pale.

Ted, the boy who had been lively just moments ago and even bad-mouthed her, was now lying on the ground, pale and looking unwell.

Mona, drenched from head to toe, was kneeling beside him, performing CPR. But with one arm still in a cast, she was struggling to help.

"I'll take over!" Nydia quickly grabbed Mona's arm to pull her away, but Mona resisted.

"Ted doesn't like you. He probably wouldn't want you to intervene."

A life was at stake. More importantly, this was her biological son.

Despite her disappointment with Ted, Nydia's motherly instinct kicked in, and she couldn't help but panic.

Without giving Mona any chance to continue speaking, Nydia pushed her aside and immediately scooped Ted up in her arms.

Nydia wasn't particularly strong, but Mona exaggeratedly fell to the ground, landing near

Mick's feet.

"Mick, I'm sorry. I didn't expect Nydia to use her son as a showpiece. I tried to stop her, but I couldn't. Ted's fine, but Nydia's reckless actions might suffocate him." Just moments earlier, chaos had erupted when Ted had fallen into the water. By the time Mick reacted, it was too late.

Even though Mona had a broken arm, she was the first to jump in and save Ted.

Meanwhile, Nydia was focused on enjoying herself with Nelson and didn't even consider Ted for a second.

"Nydia, get up. Ted doesn't need you." Mick's face darkened severely.

When he saw that Nelson was also involved in the rescue, Mick clenched his fists, the veins on his forehead bulging. However, Nydia didn't pay attention to him. She worked with Nelson to help expel the water Ted had swallowed.

Ted suddenly burst into tears.

"What did you do to Ted?"

Mick stormed forward, grabbing Ted and pulling him away from Nydia. Nydia let out a sigh of relief. Hearing him cry meant his airways had cleared, and he was safe. Mona sobbed as she hugged Ted. "Ted, you scared me so much. Are you okay?"

Ted slowly stopped crying and looked around in confusion.

"Ted..."

Nydia stepped forward, but as soon as Ted saw her, he began crying again. "You only care about other kids, never about me. I hate you. Don't come near me."

At that moment, he remembered seeing Nydia holding Norman and grew even angrier. "I don't want you as my mom. I want Ms. Poole," he said, burying himself in Mona's arms.

Nydia stopped in her tracks, her heart sinking. He had already said before that he didn't want her as his mom. It was her fault for getting her hopes up.

However, she didn't regret the rescue. As a doctor, it was her responsibility.

Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to stay calm. "Alright, as long as you're fine."

With that, she tried to suppress her emotions. "Nelson, let's go."

The crowd, seeing that there was nothing more to watch, began to disperse.

"Wait!" Mona suddenly called out.

"Nydia, you owe Ted an apology."

Nydia almost laughed out of frustration. She had saved Ted, yet she hadn't even gotten a thank you", and now she was being asked to apologize. "Do you hear yourself?" Nydia shot back.

Mona snorted. "If you hadn't been so focused on other people's kids, Ted wouldn't have fallen into the water in the first place."

Nydia stared at Mona, speechless.

"Is it hip these days to accuse someone unjustly?" Nydia thought to herself.

Ted seemed to have been struck by Mona's words, his cries growing louder as if the accusations had touched a sore spot.

Mona continued with exaggerated sorrow. "It's understandable that you're looking for a new partner, but you ar

still Ted's mother. How can you ignore him just to please someone else's

child?"

Nydia countered, "Ignore him? Then why did I save him?"

"Maybe you're just afraid of being guilty," Mona shot back.

Ted sobbed harder and shouted, "I don't want her anymore. Never again!"

The two of them seemed determined to place the blame on Nydia. Looking at her son twisting the truth, Nydia felt a pang of sadness.

"If you think so, there's nothing I can do about it," she said, her voice cold.

Mona paused for a moment, then asked, "Are you admitting that you hurt Ted?"

Nydia smirked, her gaze shifted from Ted back to Mona. "If you belleve I intentionally hurt him, feel free to call the authorities. But if you're going to slander me with false accusations, I will reserve the right to sue for defamation." Mona was momentarily stumped.

She was the one spreading lies so she couldn't possibly call the authorities.

It was Mick who stepped in at that moment, his expression dark and filled with impatience.

"Call the authorities? So, this whole scene was planned?" Mick scoffed.

Nydia replied, "What are you talking about?"

Mick looked at her as if she had been caught in her lie. He sneered. "You can try to get my attention, but you shouldn't use Ted to do it. He's your own son!"

Nydia was stunned by his words. At that moment, she realized how absurd it all was.

Crapti

Mick continued, "You used to be so innocent and kind. What happened to you? You've become so calculating. This behavior won't win me back, it only makes me think you're unreasonable." Nydia was left speechless by his bizarre logic.

Embarrassed, she glanced at Nelson. She felt utterly humiliated. Now, Nelson would surely realize the kind of person she had been married to, and he would probably mock her silently.

It was so embarrassing.

"Then call the authorities," Nydia said, her tone sharp. She was done trying to make sense of their twisted reasoning.

Mick's expression grew even darker. Unable to hold back, he snapped, "Don't you think you've embarrassed yourself enough today? How far are you willing to go? Nydia, don't make me despise you even more!"
