Chapter 4
Milo immediately went to Anson’s office, looking solemn.
“Mr. Cameron, someone is attacking our company’s firewall. The whole network department is mobilized, but they still can’t stop the attack.”
Anson’s expression became serious. He loosened his tie and scratched his neck.
Milo keenly noticed some red rashes on his neck, as if he were having an allergic reaction.
“Mr. Cameron, you…
Anson gave him a sharp glance and put his hands on the keyboard, typing quickly.
The attacker was cunning and acted very quickly, causing a gradual solemnity in Anson’s expression.
It had been a long time since he had encountered an evenly-matched opponent.
Milo was watching aside nervously, almost forgetting how to breathe.
It was rare to come across someone who could match Anson, so he was rather curious about this attacker’s identity.
On the computer screen, the lines of code that kept scrolling finally stopped, followed by a line of blood-red text popping up.
“What goes around comes around!” Milo read softly, getting flustered. He glanced restlessly at Anson, who now wore a grim expression, and pressed his lips. “Mr. Cameron, I think it’s someone’s prank. After all, the Cameron Group is not to be trifled with, not just in Denvil City, but throughout the entire country!
Wearing a sullen face, Anson remained silent.
“When will the little girl’s parents come?” Anson asked.
‘She and Elaine looked so alike. Could her mother be Elaine? He wondered.
Only then did Milo think of Evie. He quickly said, “I came here directly when the alarm sounded. That little girl must still be in my office.”
“Good”
“Mr. Cameron, don’t you think she looks almost indentical to Mrs. Cameron?”
Anson suddenly clenched his fists.
Unable to read his mind, Milo went out hurriedly for fear that Anson would vent his anger on him.
“Well… Mr. Cameron, you seem to have an allergic reaction. Shall I contact Doctor Graves? Milo turned back and asked with concern.
Anson didn’t speak..
Milo shook his head and went out.
Ever since Elaine fell off the cliff five years ago, Anson had become more and more volatile.
Back in the office, Milo didn’t see Evie. He frowned suspiciously and went to the president’s office.
However, nobody claimed to have seen her.
Milo stood akimbo.
‘Did she run away again?’ He wondered.
When he returned to the office again, he suddenly saw a string of words written on the wall and a candy wrapper on the table.
“My mommy is calling! Milo murmured the words on the wall and was amused.
He thought. So, does this mean…she’s been carrying her phone all the time? Then why she kept shaking her head just now no matter what I asked?!
After Evie received Eddy’s call, she was bouncing happily to her brothers when she bumped into a slender woman in a white dress.
“Ouch! That hurts!” Evie slumped to the ground and rubbed her butt, almost burst into tears.
Lamia was hit, and the cake in her hand fell to the ground, which made her face livid.
“You wicked girl! Who are you?”
Ever since her legs miraculously recovered five years ago, Anson had been keeping a distance from her.
Whenever she called and begged him to come to see her, he always found an excuse to refuse her.
Her personal concert would soon be held on this Saturday. She especially made time for dressing up, then came to Anson’s company to send an invitation to him.
Over the years, Lamia had always considered herself Anson’s furure wife. Everyone was cautious when dealing with her for fear of offending her.
The receptionist came to her quickly. “Ms. White, this girl is looking for her mom, so Mr. Cameron asked Milo to take her upstairs.”
Lamia was annoyed at first after being bumped..
But when she saw Evie’s face so similar to Elaine’s, a surge of hatred suddenly consumed her.
She grasped Evie’s wrist, pulled her up from the ground rudely, and rasped, “Who is your mom?”
Evie felt a pang of sharp pain, and tears streamed down her face again.
“Ooh! That hurts. Let go of me, you bad woman!”
Feeling someone’s icy gaze on her, Lamia tensed up. She suddenly realized what she had done and let go of Evie’s hand.
Then, she greeted Anson awkwardly. “Anson.”
Evie sobbed, looking extremely aggrieved. She ran to Anson and hugged him. “Sir, this woman is so scary. She pinched me!
She is a bad person!
Lamia was annoyed and quickly explained, ‘She insulted mel Besides, this kid suddenly came from nowhere. L…
“Sir, look!” Evie, whose face was covered with tears, raised her arm and looked at Anson pitiably.
Her chubby arm was now red and swollen.)
“Anson. I don’t know her. I…
Lamia fumbled when she met Anson’s cold eyes.
Milo received a call from the front desk and hurriedly took the elevator downstairs.
“Mr. Cameron!”
Anson ordered Lamia sternly, “Leave! Now!”
“She stained my skirt and ruined the cake I made for you. I just…
Evie kept sobbing, looking aggrieved and terrified, making Anson want to protect her.
“This is a workplace. Don’t ever come here again unless you really have some work to discuss about!”
Lamia’s face turned pale in an instant.
She couldn’t believe Anson had said those words in front of everyone.
Is it because this girl looks like Elaine?”
Thinking of this, Lamia clenched her fists in a fury.
Evic cried even more bitterly. “Sir, she glared at me! I want my mom!”
Noticing the various mocking or gossiping gazes from the crowd, Lamia became furious and turned around to leave.
“Wait!”
Lamia paused and looked back.
“Apologize to her.”
“Anson, what do you mean?” Lamia asked in disbelief.
After humiliating her in public, Lamia couldn’t believe that Anson would insult her further by asking her to apologize to Evie.
Anson’s tone was stern, leaving her no room to refuse. “Apologize to her!”
“Anson, you do know that I value my public image greatly, don’t you?”
“Lamia!” Anson frowned and growled, “I never expected that you would treat a child so viciously!”
Evie secretly observed Anson while wiping her tears.
She was a little confused and thought, This bad man didn’t defend her! Didn’t Julian say that this bad woman was the love of his life, and he was willing to spend a lot of money on her?”
She was a little confused!
Lamia panted in rage, feeling utterly demeaned.
After staring at each other for about a minute, Lamia turned around to leave.
“Lamia, if you dare to leave right now, I won’t go to your concert on Saturday.”
