Sasha Swift

Chapter 37 The Royal Council Part 1

Zane

Waking up next to this golden goddess is the best way to start my day. Sasha and I had spent most of the night making love. We only stopped because I told her we needed to rest for the big day.

Today we are going to the royal palace. After years of being away, I’m going back home. To my first home at least. Now home is anywhere Sasha is. Sadly I need to piss her off one more time before our real future can begin.

Sasha is laying on my chest. Her hair is plastered across her face and her perky breasts press against me. It’s very comfortable. But I know she will probably sleep in after a long night. It’s best to slip away while I can.

Lifting her arm slowly I make my escape. Going to the closet I throw on some dark jeans and a black cotton shirt with my black Nikes. No need to dress up when this will probably end up in bloodshed.

I give Sasha one more glance. I can just hope my plan works and this won’t be the last time I see her. I almost change my mind about giving myself up. But seeing how peaceful she sleeps I know I can’t risk anything happening to her. She is strong but they are stronger.

Walking over to her I give her a gentle kiss on the cheek. “This isn’t goodbye love, it’s see you later.” I whisper to her and then use my vamp speed to leave the house as fast as possible. With every step I take away from her, my heart breaks.

Finally, I stop at the top of a large hill. Down below is the Royal Palace. The large mansion still looks the same. It's still a dull white house with three large pillars in the front. The wraparound porch still decorated with a porch swing and vases of different flowers.

The large steel gate surrounds the place. It looks more like a prison than a home. Guards line the tower and I know they see me. I start walking towards the front entrance and surprisingly no one shoots me down. The two young vampires open the gate and look down at the ground instead of at me.

I find their reaction odd and suspicious. I’m not the prince anymore. I’ve been disowned. No one shows me respect anymore so why are they now? I keep walking passing several servants as I go. Some I recognize some are new. Still, they don’t look shocked to see me or try to stop me which makes me more suspicious.

I open the front double doors making sure they open with a bang. It’s always good to make a grand entrance. I step into the large room with the golden marble floor. The only thing in the room is a large water fountain. I sniff the air and in seconds they appear. Mr. Foster, Isabella, and of course Vlad.

I’m sure they were expecting me. Mr. Foster can’t keep a secret. He probably pissed himself telling Vlad he met with me. But they don’t look happy to see me. Isabella narrows her evil eyes at me, Mr. Foster looks like I stepped on his puppy and Vlad. Well, he shows no expression at all.

“The prodigal son returns. Shall we hug?” Vlad asks me in a sarcastic tone.

“You weren’t really the hugging type growing up or did you suddenly change after I left?” I growl.

“No need to reminisce. Where is the girl?” Isabella demands in her gravelly voice.

“Just give her up Zane. Don’t make this harder on yourself you won’t win.” Mr. Foster tells me with worry in his voice.

My eyes flash red and I can feel myself getting angry. “Like hell, I’ll give her to you! Just take me instead. Leave her out of this sick game your playing!”

Vlad laughs. “Game? You know I hate those son. But the girl. She is something special. I’m sure you have tasted her by now. Her fairy blood? It’s the last of her kind. The fae aren’t coming back. She holds the last of their blood in her veins. And I want it.” He growls loud enough for the wall to shake.

I take a step closer. Isabella and Mr. Foster start to move also but Vlad holds out his hand for them to stop. Only he comes towards me so we’re almost chest to chest.

“I will never give her up. You will have to rip out my heart before I let you taste a hint of her blood. She is mine!” I growl louder than expected and the pictures on the wall start to shake.

We all look at the wall and Vlad smiles back at me. “You're coming into your true power. Just like I knew you would. I challenge you right now my true heir.”

I scoff. “You have shamed the vampire throne. I will never take your place. You're a disgrace!” I spit.

“I know you don’t mean it. You were trained to take over your whole life. I chose you over hundreds of human children. Your life belongs to me. That’s why I’m the only one who will end it!” He grabs my arm and throws me into the wall.

“Zane no!” A shout interrupts us and I would know that voice from anywhere.
