Sasha Swift

Chapter 18 Vampire Fight

Zane

I can hear them and smell them. There have to be at least a hundred vampires headed our way. I look around and see people closing up their booths in fear. Some even take off running as if it would possibly help.

I hear the sound of a gun safety clicking off and look beside me. Swift has two handguns. One in each hand.

“God I love a good vampire fight. It’s been way too long.” She smiles and I shake my head at her enthusiasm.

“It’s been like three days Swift and now isn’t the time. We’re here to find Queen Merda.”

Theo looks at me and I know he is thinking the same as me. We have no idea if the vampires coming are here because of the elf queen or because of Swift. Elves have a keen sense of sniffing out supernatural beings. One of their rare gifts. So he knows Swift is part Fae.

We were arguing earlier because he wants me to tell her. He says her not knowing is more dangerous, but I disagree. I have no idea how she will react when she knows the truth. When she knows I knew and never told her. She will hate me. I can’t handle her hating me. I’m selfish I know.

As we wait for the vampires to appear I think of poor Theo. Can the kid even fight? Elves are so small and besides controlling nature what else can he do to help?

“Theo you should go back to the car. You don’t need to see this.” I won’t tell him the truth and admit I’m worried about the little guy.

“I’m fine I can protect myself. Just keep her safe!” He shouts and Swift snaps her face towards Theo.

“Excuse me I can handle myself!” As soon as her sentence ends a line of vampires appears.

Out of nowhere, a wall of dirt flies up before them. I’m shocked. The wind picks up all around us and it feels like we’re in the middle of a dust storm or tornado. I look over at Theo his eyes are glowing and his hands are raised.

Swift starts shooting taken-down vampires as I charge toward some on my left. Two try to punch me but I dodge them and rip out their hearts. I leap in the air and kick another one's head off then rip out his heart from the back.

I turn around in time for a girl to wrap her hand around my throat. I knock her arm down and kick her feet out from under her. When she falls to the ground I rip her heart out. She turns to dust along with her friends.

A vine shoots past my face and wraps around five vampires trapping them. Theo is controlling the vines I’m sure of it. The little elf is pretty powerful. I wonder why he didn’t fight me back in the hotel room.

After taking out another twenty or so vampires I hear my name. “Zane Wilder, we meet again!” I turn behind me to see an old friend.

“Robin Davis. What the bloody hell are you doing here mate?” Robin rushes up and hugs me. I hug her back spinning her around.

“I knew you would be here. I came to warn you but I was too late. I just blended in with the others until I could get you alone.” She explains.

“So what is the real reason you’re here? Did you have another vision?” Robin is the only psychic vampire I know of. When she sleeps she has visions and they always come true.

She nods. “Yes, I did. I came to tell you that you’re in danger.” She says and I laugh.

“Yeah, it’s obvious mate. Look around it’s a damn war field.”

Robin shakes her head. “Not this. Real trouble. He wants the girl. He knows you're protecting her. I know he is your maker and your first instinct is to obey him but you can’t. She's too important.”

I look around to make sure no one is listening luckily no one is. “What do you mean she is important? Do you know what she is?” I ask and Robin smiles.

“Yes, your beloved my dear.”
