Sasha Swift 2 late to Die

Chapter 1

Sasha

A bright light shines through the purple curtains of my bedroom. I put my arm up to shield my eyes but it’s no use. It’s morning already and I need to eat breakfast and get to work.

I sit up and slowly climb out of bed. Looking back at my empty bed I realize I hate sleeping alone. After being with Zane for over a year I’m used to a certain lifestyle. Cuddles, morning sex, and breakfast in bed were the usual. But it’s been three months since I left. I need to get used to my new normal. So I push my depressing thoughts away and go over to my walk-in closet.

Rummaging through my clothes I grab a red and black jumpsuit and slip it on. After putting on my favorite black combat boots I grab the knives off my dresser and put them in my pockets. Soon every pocket is filled with either a pocket knife or a throwing knife.

When I enter my kitchen it's bittersweet. I have so many memories of Greta here but I also have made new ones by myself. After cutting ties with Zane and Theo all I have is alone time and now I’m a half-decent cook. Before I could barely cook an egg. Cooking also makes me feel closer to Greta. Like she is cooking with me in spirit.

After cooking bacon, scrambled eggs, and toast. I head out of the front door and get into my car, my red 1969 Chevy Camaro convertible. Slurping down my coffee I drive down the road. Today I am heading to a warehouse. An anonymous tip told me some of the black witches’ followers are held up there. The fact that their rogue werewolves make the job more interesting.

Werewolves are already unpredictable creatures. They are well known for their short tempers and overprotective of their mates. They can shift at a second’s notice and tend to rage out on a full moon.

Rogues are worse. They don’t belong to a pack. At least pack wolves have a sense of brotherhood and are more civilized. Rogues have no one. They only look out for themselves. They’re feral, dangerous and I can’t wait to go take some out.

The warehouse I’m going to is in the middle of downtown Redmond. A town five hours from mine. Arriving there I park a few blocks down and spray perfume on myself. The perfume is a potion I have that can mask your scent. Werewolves have a keen sense of smell and I don’t want them to know I’m coming. I’m counting on the element of surprise to take them down.

I walk down the alley next to the brown brick warehouse until I find a ladder on the side of the building. I climb up to the roof and look around. There isn’t much up here but the large skylight window that I plan on jumping through. I have always wanted one but seeing how easily it can be broken into changes my mind.

Staring through the glass window I can see five werewolves below me. One is guarding the front door and three are standing over an open wooden crate. The last one is looking at his phone not paying any attention at all. I decide he is my first victim.

I take a deep breath and run and jump onto the glass. I begin free-falling down toward the ground. It feels like I’m going in slow motion as I land on my feet gracefully. It doesn’t take long for the sound of growls and bones cracking to surround me.

Without hesitation, I lift my left leg and kick the werewolf who still has his cell phone in his hand. The silver knife in my boot goes through his chin stabbing and killing him. I pull my foot back down and his body falls to the ground.

“Sorry boys was he your friend?” I smirk as the four werewolves lunge at me. I always love to talk shit as I fight my enemies. Anything to get them riled up and distract them.

I do a backflip and pull out my gun firing bullets in their direction. They jump and run dodging my bullets as I step backward. I am about to reload when one of the wolves drops to the ground. A bullet has hit his side and he shifts back to human. He lays on the floor clutching his side as he bleeds out.

“You bitch! I’ll kill you once I heal!” He whines.

I shake my head. “You won’t heal easily I coated the bullets in wolfsbane just for you.” I chuckle but shut up quickly when a brown wolf lunges at me. He's much larger than the others.

I drop my gun since it is empty anyway. I try to kick the wolf but he grabs my leg with his teeth and throws me across the floor. I roll onto my side and then get back onto my feet as the sound of bones crackling floods my ears.

The brown wolf has shifted into a large brown-skinned man with shoulder-length black hair and dark brown eyes. He is almost handsome if it wasn’t for the evil grin on his face.

“I know who you are Swift the vampire hunter.” He announces.

“I kill more than vampires, hence your dead friends.” I roll my eyes at his dumb remark.

He growls and flashes his canines. “There is a bounty on your head human! If I take you to her I will have enough money to retire.” He takes two steps toward me as I narrow my eyes at him.

“How much are we talking wolfy?”

“Two million to bring you in alive.” He smiles.

I cock my head to the side. “Hmm thought it would be more. Regardless I can’t let you take me in so -”

I close my eyes and started chanting. The yellow glow starts to form in my hands. I open my eyes to see the wolves backing away. I thrust my hands towards them as a glowing light bursts out engulfing their bodies until they burn to a crisp.

“Sasha, what the hell was that?” A voice yells out and I turn my head in that direction.

Standing in the doorway is the last person I wanted to see. “Zane?” I question as my soulmate walks toward me in big strides.
