Sanctuary II

Chapter Eternal

The months passed, from autumn, to winter, to spring. The city slowly got back to normal as construction was well underway. Near the central park, a huge cathedral had been built, not for worship of any Gods, but for bonding ceremonies and funerals.

Ashe sat inside, in a long white dress, as people slowly arrived, Roisin sat next to her smiling.

"I can't believe this day is finally here!" Roisin grinned as she hugged her best friend. Dex was sat next to her and was talking to Atlas, who sat behind.

"I'm so nervous, Ros" Ashe chuckled, as her voice shook.

"Don't be! This is your big day!" She smiled.

"I bet Ariel is feeling the same, except she doesn't have a Roisin to help her" Dex chuckled, as he looked at Ashe.

"She does have Anya though, and Wes as her best man" Ashe nodded, and chuckled. As the minutes passed the cathedral filled up with hundreds of people, eager to see Ashe and Ariel have their bonding ceremony. A hush arrived across the grand hall of the cathedral, as the huge organ began playing a happy tune. Everyone rose to their feet and turned to the door, to see Ariel arriving in a long white dress.

"It's so odd to see her in a dress" Syl giggled.

"And in light colours" Keegan smiled, as everyone watched Ariel walk down the aisle, with Wes by her side. Anya followed behind, as she walked alongside Ruby, who was carrying a tiny pillow with two rings on the top. As Ariel reached the top of the aisle, Ashe hugged her and smiled.

"Hello, there" Ariel smiled.

"Hallo" Ashe grinned. The Vicar motioned for everyone to sit, Ariel and Ashe stood facing each other holding hands, as Anya and Wes sat down, Ashe turned to look at Ruby who gave her a surprised look, then perched on Roisin's head. Making everyone chuckle.

"Sawry" Ruby squeaked.

"Good job, Rubes" Roisin giggled. The Vicar smiled, then turned to Ashe and Ariel.

"We are gathered here today, to witness the bonding of Ariel Ferras and Ashe Summers. As most people here today know, it's been a long and rocky road for the two of them to reach this day. But one thing has always stayed the same, their undying love for one another" The Vicar stated. Roisin looked at Dex and kissed his cheek.

"Today is the day we will see them make their undying love eternal, through their bonding. Now, in a bit of a twist to our usual proceedings, the rings will be presented by Ruby the Dragon" The Vicar smiled as he looked at Ruby.

"Meeeeee!" Ruby cheered happily as she flew to Ashe and Ariel with the tiny pillow. The pair smiled at Ruby.

"Now, Ruby would you present Ariel with the ring for us?" The Vicar smiled. Ruby nodded her small head and picked up on of the rings in her small hand, and slid it onto Ariel's finger.

"And now Ashe's ring" He nodded. Ruby squeaked with glee as she picked up the ring and slide it onto Ashe's finger.

"I can now pronounce you bonded, until the end of eternity, a bond so strong that even the gods themselves cannot break" The Vicar smiled. "You may kiss the bride" He added.

Ashe and Ariel kissed each other, as the Cathedral erupted in applause so loud that it could be heard across the city, confetti fired into the air and the cathedral bell rang loud enough for miles around to hear.

Roisin, Dex, Wes, and Anya rose from their seats and all hugged the pair, before they all made their way down the aisle and through the large cathedral doors. As they stepped outside, hundreds of people were stood across the road, cheering and firing confetti into the air, Ashe and Ariel made their way to the car, which would take them to the reception. Roisin and the others waved them off, before getting into the following car.
