Chapter 3196 The Escape Of The Vampires
The next day, nearing night, Nathan received the latest news from the frontlines. As it turned out, one of the lines of defense in the vampire-occupied territory had been attacked by vampires. The soldiers stationed there were killed, and vampires were fleeing out of the
vampire-occupied territory.
However, they did not know how many vampires had escaped.
Immediately, Nathan called for an emergency meeting with the core members of the alliance.
Other than Wolfric, who was recovering in the hospital, every core member of the alliance attended it.
Eugene IV had also heard about the breakout of the vampires. He consoled the others by saying, "Indeed, the guards have been killed, and the vampires had staged a breakout. Moreover, we don't even know how many vampires have escaped. Nevertheless, the Hallsbayan army has gone to the site to stop the rest, and we haven't found any signs of large-scale bondslave activity. I'm guessing that only a group of elite vampire fighters have escaped the area, and the majority of the bondslaves have not escaped from the vampire- occupied territory. In other words, this isn't a major problem."
Leopold said, "Things aren't that serious yet, but who knows what these vampire elites are trying to do by sneaking into the human areas? I'd say they're a ticking time bomb. We don't know when it's going to detonate."
Nathan and the others nodded in agreement.
Nathan said, "The Gods of War of a hundred nations have formed an alliance, and these hundred nations are working together too. Even the armies of Adrune are cooperating and holding up lines of defense to keep the vampires trapped in the vampire-occupied territory so that the vampire can't expand their territory. I'm guessing that they're trying to find another way around this now that we have them surrounded. They might be trying to sneak into human countries with the vampire elites they sent out to start another spread of the blood virus in countries with high population density. The consequences would be dire if the blood virus spread in big cities."
Everyone's heart skipped a beat when they heard that.
Nathan continued, "We have three things we need to do now. First of all, we need to order the troops at the lines of defense to be more vigilant. We must not let any vampires escape anymore. Secondly, we need to increase the level of protection in countries with relatively safe and stable conditions. We can't let a breakout of the blood virus happen in busy cities. Thirdly, we need to develop a serum against the blood virus as soon as possible. That way, we'll be able to resolve the threat the vampires pose to us."
The Gods of War agreed with Nathan and recorded the main points of his speech so that they could relay the message to their presidents.
Once Nathan was done with his speech, he ordered the alliance to make arrangements to form a first-response team.
The members of the first-response team would have to be one of the strongest Gods of War.
The team would be led by Nathan and a few other deputy commanders. If any emergencies happened, the first-response team would be mobilized instantly.
When Nathan finished talking about that, he turned to Eugene IV and said, "I'll leave the selection of the team members to you, Pope Eugene."
Eugene IV smiled and answered, "Okay."
Nathan inclined his head and ended the meeting.
The people dispersed.
Just as Eugene IV was about to leave, Nathan stopped him and asked, "Wolfric is the deputy commander of the alliance, but is he absent in an important meeting like this? Ariarica can't be thinking of taking a backseat again, right?"
A bitter smile appeared on Eugene IV's face as he answered, "Wolfric isn't feeling well, and he's currently recovering in the hospital, so he can't come for the meeting. But I'm not sure whether that's true
or not."
Nathan furrowed his brows. "I'll go to the hospital to visit him later, then."
Eugene IV froze before whispering, "You're not about to warn Wolfric to be more cooperative, are you?"
Nathan smiled and replied, "Why would I? I just think that I, as the commander-in-chief, should visit the deputy commander if he's in the hospital."
Eugene IV only hummed in response, neither agreeing nor disagreeing. He was sure that Nathan was going to chastise Wolfric because he was discontent with Wolfric's behavior. Still, Eugene IV said nothing about that and went to carry on with his work.
Nathan asked Colin to prep the car
ac
then added, "We're going to take trip to the hospital to visit our deputy commander, Admiral Welz. Let's find out how his recovery is."
"Understood!"
