Sacred Lands

Chapter Work In Progress

Jun was scanning the area from the treetops, before landing on a tree branch and taking a deep sniff of air around trying to pinpoint Naois’ exact location, she could Faye all the way back in the palace while smelling Naois around the jungle floor. She closed her eyes and when she opened them all she could see every scent trail that was around then once more she pinpointed Naois’ smell and she was off.

Naois on the other hand was oblivious to the fact that Jun was on his trail. He was still jumping and slithering around, accidentally splashing into water and mud paddles as the world continued to zoom past him when he was picked up into the air, he squirmed in whatever’s grasp he was currently in, he thought of shifting back into his regular form, but that would mean he and whatever that was carrying him would fall to their deaths and he wasn’t in the mood to die.

Naois saw the palace as he continued to be carried and was dropped into a room hearing scream he shifted back into his naga form.

“Oh it’s you, I thought Jun brought back a random snake, my bad I know you don’t like when I scream,” Faye said walking over to her mate and rubbed his cheek lovingly, and Naois nuzzled his cheek into her hand in response.

“I’m upset that you thought I brought a random snake back to the palace, but I found Naois in record time, so finding your grandparents should be easy as pie!” Jun excitedly claimed still slightly pouting.

Faye stepped closer to Jun and scratched Jun under her chin making the furry creature purr, “You did such a good job, good girl! I’m so proud of you, good girl Jun.” Jun purred louder and nuzzled back into her hand. Faye continued to pet and rub Jun as Jun purred louder and louder.

“Jun, how did you find me so fast?” Naois asked breaking up the moment between Faye and Jun. Faye slightly pulled her hand away so Jun could answer.

“When I focus on a certain smell, I can see the trail they left behind. So as I said earlier finding your grandparents is gonna be easy as pie as long as you have something that has had/has their scent then everything should be fine.” Jun chirped happily.

“This is great!” Faye said as she clapped her hands together taking Jun into her arms and swinging her around, “We’re gonna have to test this out tomorrow, so rest as much as you can, and make sure you eat well, this is so exciting!” Faye said getting more and more excited, ′I have yet to write my letter, I should start tonight.′

Faye let Jun jump out her arms and flew back to her home in the treetops. There was still daylight left so starting now, seemed like a good idea. Faye grabbed a notebook and a pencil and started brainstorming writing a few thoughts she felt that she include. Naois stayed with her and just watched her writing notes and tossing papers around the room, and felt her grow upset as time went on.

“Breath, let your heart guide your hand, you’re thinking too much.” He grabbed her free hand and rubbed it affectionately watching her slowly relax and breathe, “You miss your grandparents obviously and you want to tell them that your safe. Start out like that and write down how you truly feel. That’s my suggestion at least.” Naois said and Faye could only smile at his willingness to help. She rubbed her thumb against his darkened hand in return to his words, not trusting her voice at the moment.

The duo ended up staying up later than either had anticipated, but Naois was determined to stay by her side, but he also didn’t want Faye to stay up late to the point so he lightly tugged the papers out of her hand ignoring her protests and then hugged her as he laid in the bed feeling her punch his chest before stopping and calming down.

“Thank you Naois, for everything,” Faye mumbled from his chest and he rubbed her back lovingly in response.

“Just like you told Jun, you need your rest, to finish writing your letter to your grandparents. I’ll stay by your side as long as you want me to.” Naois responded hugging her tighter.

“Are you sure you don’t have to patrol the area or anything?”

“I only do it when I feel a great disturbance within the jungle or when Jun and her siblings report something,” Naois said as they both slowly started falling asleep.

The sound of birds chirping awoke Faye from her sleep and she stretched, getting up and ready to finish writing. The woman in white came to collect her and feed her breakfast. Faye went back into her room seeing Naois looking around frantically, before spotting Faye at the entrance of the room and Faye jumped onto the bed while also grabbing her notebook.

“Remember just let your heart guide your writing and just let go,” Naois said wrapping his tail around Faye loosely, with his upper body taking up the other side of the bed.

Taking a deep breath Faye began writing. She wrote down every emotion she felt on this trip and explained that a certain discovery required her attention, but she thought of them every day. She talked about the story and how with this discovery she had found her ending to her story.

“Sorry to interrupt, but if I ever want to help you I should become accustomed to a flight path.” A small voice spoke from the windowsill causing Faye to jump in her skin as Naois gave a slight smile.

“Did you really think I would let something just come in here?”

“Of course not. Doesn’t make it any less scary to hear a random voice.” Faye explained rubbing his tail, “Come on in Jun.” She felt little paws on her shoulder then her lap, which she stayed as Faye prepared to explain the idea.

“So you sniff the book, track my grandparents go to their house, and drop this letter off. I don’t want you to make unnecessary trips, so might as well make one trip.”

“Thank you, then I wait for a response, and see if this method is most effective for everyone involved, got it,” Jun said smiling as Faye handed her the folded letter and Jun smelt the book and she closed her eyes and concentrated. When she opened them they had a silver tint in them and she was gone.

“I hope everything works out.”

“It will. I believe that it will. Remember what you said to me? 'We have to think positively.' Remember? I believe that it'll work and it will." Naois said as he wrapped his arms around her waist and slowly swaying side to side, "We'll just wait for the results."
