Chapter 20
Alicia hadn’t said anything after Dalion transferred the money to her this morning. He didn’t know what she was thinking. Is it not enough money, or does she just not want my money?”
Nick sneaked a glance at Dalton’s expression. Alicia would be in big trouble if she really tried to cozy up to that bank president, stepping out on Daljon. As Dalton’s wife in name, she was supposed to seek help from her own man, not another. Going to someone else would be a direct hit to Dalton’s pride. “Uh… maybe I should call Mrs. Slater to remind her, or maybe suggest she doesn’t go… Nick offered.
Dalton’s eyes turned icy, his voice sharp. “Don’t you dare call her!” He wanted to see if Alicia dared. to meet another man behind his back.
Nick didn’t dare say another word.
It was just past 10 PM when Alicia stepped out of the taxi. T ht, she was a vision in a flowing red gown, with her makeup done to perfection–radiant and otherworldly.
As she entered the house, Dalton’s eyes found her immediately. She disliked dressing up, yet today, she’d made an effort with her makeup and gown, clearly to please another man. Dalton felt his anger flare up, his long fingers clenched until his knuckles whitened.
Alicia felt a burning gaze and instinctively looked back, catching sight of Dalton sitting in his wheelchair. He was suited in stark black, the epitome of restraint, with soft lighting cascading down over him. Even seated, he couldn’t disguise his deep, striking presence. But his expression was as cold and indifferent as always, causing Alicia to frown slightly.
Thinking of the money he had transferred that moming–which she hadn’t accepted–she considered whether to tell Dalton she didn’t need his money. She preferred to stay untangled from him. However, one thing was oddly different tonight; Lillian wasn’t around. Maybe she had the night off.
“Come here.” Dalton spoke, his voice a low rasp as he swallowed.
They were alone in the living room. Alicia frowned, “Dalton, what crazy thing are you up to now?”
Dalton loosened his tie with one hand, his voice even rougher and deeper, “Come here.”
Alicia wasn’t sure what he wanted, but she felt tension tightening her body as she walked over.
As she moved closer, a whiff of alcohol filled the air. It came from Alicia. She indeed had been around drinks! Dalton’s tongue flicked across his cheek, and the next second, he sharply reached out, gripping Alicia’s slender wrist tightly. A cold gleam flashed in his amber eyes; he asked, “Did you enjoy playing the social butterfly?”
Alicia felt like her wrist was about to be crushed by Dalton. Instinctively, she tried to pull away. But the more she struggled, the stronger Dalton’s grip grew, and his face turned stormier. “Dalton, let

Dahon demanded, “Did you, or did you not, enjoy your little socializing? Answer me.”
In your eyes, I’m the kind of woman who’d do anything for money?” Alicia shouted back, tears streaming down her cheeks, “Believe it or not, I didn’t socialize for money”
Disbelief tightened Dalton’s face, and with a swift into his arms.

surrounded them.
She carried no scent of booze herself; her clothes hd merely soaked up the smell.
The sudden closeness made Alicia’s nerves crackle. She forgot to breathe, her heartbeat ramped up. and she lost track of her precarious situation.
Dalton’s cold voice broke the moment, “You’re carrying the scent of another man’s drink. Are you going to take your clothes off, or shall I do it for you?”
So, that is the reason for his madness? And he wants me to undress? Right in front of him? Alicia shivered at the thought inwardly. As she snapped back to reality, she tried to push away from. Dalton, aiming to run.
But he didn’t give her the chance. His firm grip held her wrist, and in an instant, she heard a loud rip. Dalton had viciously torn her dress!
“Dalton, you lunatic!” Her dress falling apart, Alicia frantically grasped at the fabric, trying to cover herself while screaming furiously, trembling with rage.
Dalton flung her onto the floor, his eyes coldly watching her scramble awkwardly on the ground, exposing her delicate shoulders and her face swollen with tears and anger. “Remember your place, Mrs. Slater!”
