Roses on Fire ~ The Tale of Roses and Thorns 2.

Chapter 10 ~ The Forgotten Lands

When our ancestors arrived in Sanctuary, it was a lot bigger than now. There were 12 kingdoms, with their own unique cultures, living a peaceful life. They were cooperating in every way they could, and they needed.

They lived in peace and wealth for a hundred years, until six kingdoms formed an alliance. They thought that they were better and stronger. They left out the other kingdoms, who cut every connection with the Alliance, and formed their own. For another fifty years the two alliance lived in peace, until an unfortunate incident: the two sons of Aillard, Allerick and Erebos got across with each other: Erebos thought that the two alliances should had united again. Allerick then banished his brother from Etalia. Erebos went North with his followers and established Nendawin. After that, many thought that Erebos was right, and a series of riots and civil wars begun. After many bloody months, one of the alliances dissolved, since it’s members decided to live an isolated life. These kingdoms were: Lillaelux, the home of the peaceful warriors, Prigon, home of the traders, Tilia, where the sorceresses lived, and Marin, home of the seamen. These lands are now called the Forgotten Lands, because only a few can remember them. And the Alliance of the Six became what we know today as Sanctuary. For most people it’s only desert and mountains that exist outside Sanctuary, but it’s much more.

The people of the forgotten lands know each other, but barely communicate. Lillaelux is now known as The Lands of Peace for outsiders. It’s habited by warriors, who don’t fight, but always ready to protect themselves. Its capital is the City of Protection, or Elibora.

Prigon, was one of the greatest kingdoms that once existed in Sanctuary, and was the land of forests, became a desert, and for outsiders it looks uninhabited. It’s habitants call themselves the ghosts, and live underground.

Marin didn’t change much. It’s now known as the Coast for the people of the Forgotten Lands. It’s a large kingdom that lies along the coast, and lived by fishermen, marines and sailors. Its capital is Marmoris.

Tilia is now known as the Ice Lands, and is still habited by the ice sorceresses. It’s mostly forgotten even for the people of the Forgotten Lands or believed to be a fairy tale. Its capital is Hiwaya, the city of dreams.

There’s only one last kingdom I haven’t spoken of: Cetia. Cetia is not part of the Forgotten Land, since it’s still part of Sanctuary, but it never belonged to the Alliance of the Six. It’s now known as the Savagedom. For six hundred years, Cetia was a prosper Kingdom, formed by many small city states. They were the allies of Nendawin, but after the death of Queen Avyanna, Erebos cut off every communication and commerce between Nendawin and Cetia. After that, the unity of the city states dissolved, and the states became poor. Now all that left are five tribes, which wear the name of the five city states, as last remains of the once strong and prosper kingdom. These tribes are Nuvia, Vator, Triya, Ribet and Croria. Their capital city, Wylan, was once the richest city of Cetia, and was neutral among the city states. Now it’s called the City of Bones and is the scene of non-stop riots and civil wars.
