Chapter 68
At the same time in the Bloodrose Pack...
Ivan Wolfgang knocked on the door led to the room where Randolph was being hospitalized, while Borris, the Omega who was ordered to pick him up stood by his side.
“Come in!” Alpha Adolph Wolfgang shouted from the other side of the door.
When Ivan pushed the door open, he saw Randolph sitting bolt upright in his bed. His parents, Alpha Adolph Wolfgang and Luna Meredith, sat in the chairs beside the bed.
Alpha Adolph Wolfgang bade Ivan and Borris come closer.
The two of them stepped into the room and walked up to the Alpha’s family. Ivan parked himself on the edge of the bed. Meanwhile, Borris took up his position behind the Alpha and Luna.
“Tell me, Randolph, where is my daughter now?” Ivan demanded impatiently.
Randolph looked sideways at his parents.
After his father gave him a nod of approval, Randolph finally told Ivan what had happened to him and Rosangela after the two of them split up with Ivan in the forest at that time.
After hearing Randolph’s story, Ivan suddenly got him by the collar. “You stupid idiot! Why did you leave my daughter in the kingdom of Nightshades?” he stormed.
Alpha Adolph Wolfgang leapt to his feet and grabbed Ivan, wrenching him away from Randolph. “Calm down, Ivan! Let’s talk it over with a cool head!” said the Alpha.
Ivan shook his Alpha off. “How could you tell me to keep calm when your son has made a fatal mistake that can endanger my daughter, Alpha?” he thundered.
Alpha Wolfgang looked perplexed. “What are you talking about?”
“You know what? It’s an open secret that King Joaquin has harboured a grudge against King Bellamy for years. King Joaquin will certainly harm Rosanne to take his revenge on King Bellamy,” Ivan explained furiously.
“I’m sorry, Ivan, I wasn’t to know,” Randolph said regretfully.
“You should think twice before doing something, Randolph. Now look at the mess you have made! Your reckless action has put my daughter’s life at risk,” Ivan told him off.
“Now look here, it’s not entirely my fault. You’re also partly responsible for it, Ivan,” Randolph accused him.
“I’m partly to blame? What exactly are you getting at?” Ivan questioned him angrily.
“If you hadn’t left me and Rosanne behind, we wouldn’t have gotten caught by the soldiers of the kingdom of Nightshades,” Randolph retorted.
“Yes, you’re right--I stand corrected,” Ivan admitted, “I know I shouldn’t have suggested the three of us to spread out.”
“However,” he added, “we can’t ignore the fact that it’s your fault Rosanne is trapped in the kingdom of Nightshades now.”
“Excuse me, but if it weren’t for me who asked Rosanne to wait for us at the kingdom of Nightshades, she probably would have been killed by the vampires who had attacked me by now,” Randolph countered.
“My daughter isn’t a feeble human; she is a half-blood vampire who has a supernatural power. Rosanne doesn’t need you to protect her for she surely can defend herself. And if she were there with you when you were being attacked by those evil vampires, she probably could have saved you,” Ivan raged.
“But we all know that Rosanne can’t control her power yet, so I was right not to bring her along with me at that time,” Randolph insisted.
“You--”
Ivan was about to protest, but Alpha Adolph Wolfgang interjected, “Stop blaming each other, you two! Now, all we need to do is think of a way to rescue Rosangela from the kingdom of Nightshades.”
Ivan gave a deep sigh. “You’re right, Alpha. I’m sorry.”
“I’m sorry, too,” Randolph said in a quiet, dead voice.
“Borris,” Alpha Adolph Wolfgang called.
“Yes, Alpha?” Borris responded.
“Summon all the warriors in our pack! We need to discuss the strategy to rescue Rosangela, pronto!” the Alpha commanded.
“All right, Alpha,” said Borris. He then excused himself and finally left to carry out his Alpha’s order.
“Ivan, let’s go to the meeting room now!” Alpha Wolfgang exclaimed.
Ivan nodded in agreement.
“Honey,” Alpha Adolph Wolfgang indicated to his wife, “You’d better stay here and watch our son.”
Luna Meredith responded with a smile, “Okay, Honey.”
At last, Alpha Wolfgang and Ivan swept out of the room and went straight to the meeting room.
By the time they arrived at the meeting room, apparently the warriors had gathered there. Alpha Adolph Wolfgang quickly positioned himself at the head of the table, while Ivan sat beside him. The Alpha started the meeting right away, and all the people who were attending the meeting lastly began to lay their plans to rescue Rosangela.
Thirty minutes later, the meeting came to an end and an agreement was finally reached among all of them. Everyone rose from their chairs before they all began to spill out of the meeting room and went their several ways to prepare themselves for a rescue operation to the kingdom of Nightshades.
Alpha Adolph Wolfgang and Ivan were the last to come out. Seeing them, Randolph, who had been waiting for them on the couch in the opposite side of the room, staggered to his feet and started hobbling across the room to approach his father and friend. His mother, Luna Meredith, followed closely behind him.
“What are you doing here, Randolph? You have just recovered consciousness. You are not allowed up yet,” Alpha Wolfgang reprimanded his son.
“I’ve told him not to get out of bed, Honey, but he didn’t want to listen to me,” Luna Meredith complained.
Brushing aside his parents’ scolding, Randolph said decidedly, “I want to come with you too, Dad.”
“No, Randolph. I forbid you from coming with us,” Alpha Wolfgang stated firmly.
“I agree with your father,” Luna Meredith commented, “You are in no condition to go anywhere yet, Randolph.”
“Whether I like it or not, I am still responsible for what happened to Rosanne. So I feel obligated to help her,” Randolph emphasized.
Alpha Adolph Wolfgang thought for a bit before deciding, “All right. You may come with us if you wish, Son. But you must stay close behind me all the time--I don’t want you to get hurt again.”
“Fine. I promise I will always stay close to you.” Randolph nodded in agreement. “Thank you, Dad.”
“Let’s go, Alpha! We still need to get ready,” said Ivan.
“Okay,” responded Alpha Wolfgang.
