Rosangela: The Half-Blood Princess

Chapter 62

The first thing that came to mind when I woke up this afternoon was to meet Prince Maximilian. I threw back the covers and leapt out of bed. After that, I walked into the bathroom to take a shower.

As I stepped out of the bathroom, I found Sigmund stretching and yawning on the sofa. He apparently had just woken from his sleep.

He looked at me with a puzzled frown on his face when he found that I was already dressed up.

“Where are you going?” he asked.

“I’m going to meet Prince Maximilian,” I answered.

“No, you can’t meet him,” he stated.

“I will go to meet Maximilian and you can’t stop me,” I said angrily.

Sigmund let out a long sigh. “It’s not what I meant. You can’t meet Maximilian because he’s not in the kingdom of Clanbella now.”

I furrowed my eyebrows. “If he’s not here, where is he right now?”

“He and King Ignatius already returned to their kingdom yesterday,” Sigmund replied.

His answer took me by surprise. “What?! He already returned to his kingdom, but he didn’t tell me, his fiancée first?”

“Don’t blame him! How could he tell you if you weren’t in the palace yesterday?” he mocked me.

I rolled my eyes at him.

'No matter what , today, I have to meet Maximilian and ask his help to persuade my grandfather to call off our wedding. I don’t have much time,' I thought.

I approached Sigmund and sat down beside him on the sofa.

“Sigmund, can you drive me to Maximilian’s kingdom now?” I requested.

“No, I can’t,” he refused.

“Please! I really need to meet Maximilian,” I pleaded.

“Maximilian said that he would be back soon. So you just have to wait until he returns here,” he said coldly.

“But I want to meet him now,” I demanded.

“Why do you want to meet him so badly?” he asked curiously.

“That’s none of your business,” I snarled.

“If you don’t tell me why you want to meet Maximilian, I won’t take you to his place,” he threatened.

I was about to retort, but suddenly a knock on the door interrupted me.

“Who is that?” I asked with annoyed tone.

“It’s me, Maximilian,” he answered from the other side of the door.

“Finally!” I exclaimed happily.

Rising to my feet, I made a dart for the door and opened it.

“Maximilian, I’m glad you’re finally back,” I beamed.

“I’m sorry I left without telling you first, Rosanne. Something happened in my kingdom. Therefore, I and my father had to go home to take care of it,” Maximilian apologized.

“Forget it! I need to talk to you,” I said.

Maximilian was about to respond, but stopped abruptly when he spotted Sigmund in my room.

The vampire prince advanced towards Sigmund and asked angrily, “What are you doing here?”

Sigmund rose to his feet and replied calmly, “I could ask you the same.”

“I’m here to meet my fiancée. But what are you doing in her bedroom?” Maximilian queried fiercely.

“King Bellamy gave me a strict order to keep an eye on Princess Mirabelle. That’s why I’m here,” Sigmund explained.

“But you don’t have to stay inside her room. You can stay outside with the other guards,” Maximilian protested.

“How could I keep an eye on her if I were outside?” Sigmund shot back.

“Here we go again!” I muttered when Sigmund and Maximilian began arguing again.

I walked towards the bed and sat down on the edge of it, watching the two guys fighting over something silly.

When I had had enough of their endless quarrel, I yelled, “Are you two done fighting?”

Prince Maximilian and Sigmund immediately ceased bickering and they both looked at me.

“Yes,” Sigmund replied.

At the same time, Maximilian answered, “No.”

I glowered at Maximilian.

“I mean, yes,” Maximilian quickly corrected.

“Good!” I exclaimed while standing up.

“Sigmund, can you leave me and Maximilian for a moment? I want to talk to him privately,” I requested.

Maximilian smirked with victory, meanwhile, Sigmund looked upset.

“No, I won’t leave you,” he rebuffed, “King Bellamy ordered me not to let you out of my sight even just for a second.”

“I’m not going anywhere. I just want to talk to Maximilian here for a moment and you can wait outside,” I said.

“The answer is still no,” he said firmly.

“Please! Please! Please!” I beseeched.

“Fine.” Sigmund finally stormed out of my room.

“What’s wrong, Rosanne?” Maximilian inquired as soon as Sigmund closed the door after him.

“Maxim, can I ask you a favor?” I implored.

“Sure. What can I do for you?” he queried curiously.

“I want you to persuade my grandfather to cancel our wedding,” I told him.

Maximilian’s jaw dropped. “What?!”

“I’ve tried to talk to him, but he didn’t want to listen to me. But if you were the one who asked him, he would listen to you for sure,” I elaborated.

“Why do you suddenly want to cancel our wedding? Don’t you love me?” Maximilian asked sadly.

“That’s the problem. I don’t love you,” I answered coldly.

“But I love you, Rosanne. You’re my soul mate,” he spoke with total sincerity.

“Then it’s just a one-sided love,” I said.

“But you’ve agreed to marry me,” Maximilian protested.

“Look! I agreed to marry you just because my grandfather urged me. But one thing for sure, I never love you the way you love me, Maximilian,” I said firmly.

“Maybe you don’t love me now. But someday you definitely will,” Maximilian said with confidence.

“No, I won’t,” I refuted.

“Yes, you will,” he insisted.

“I won’t. Never,” I persisted.

“Yes—”

“Talk to my grandfather to cancel our wedding or never think to see me again!” I threatened, cutting him off.

“Fine,” he sighed. “I will talk to the king. However, I won’t ask him to cancel our wedding, but to postpone it until you’re ready.”

“It’s up to you. The most important is I don’t want us to get married at my birthday,” I said.

“Wait for me here! I’ll be right back,” Maximilian said.

I nodded.

Maximilian finally walked out of my bedroom. Moment later, Sigmund entered my bedroom again.

“What have you and Maximilian talked about? He looked upset when he left your room.” Sigmund asked me out of curiosity.

“Mind your own businesses,” I gave him a sharp retort.

He rolled his eyes at me and then took a seat on the sofa again.

'I hope it will work out, or else I’ll be done for,' I thought hopefully.
