Chapter 6
I awoke to find the room empty. It seemed that Sigmund had left while I was sleeping. I got out of the bed and walked towards the window. Peeping through the hole in the board covering the window, I could see the sky had turned dark.
I heard footsteps approaching. I hurriedly flopped onto the bed. Burrying my head in the covers, I pretended to be asleep.
The door flung open and Sigmund walked into the room.
“Get up! We’re leaving now,” he ordered.
I lay still, kept pretending to be asleep.
I heard him letting out a sigh. “I know you’re awake. Get up now before I make you.”
I sat up and faced him. “Look! I am not going anywhere with you until you explain to me what’s going on here and why you kidnapped me.”
“I’ll explain to you later. Now let’s go!” He grabbed my arm, pulled me to my feet and yanked me forward.
I shook him off. “No! I want you to explain to me right now.”
“I want you to come with me right now. We can do this easy way or hard way,” he threatened.
“Fine. You won. I will go with you willingly. But at least you have to give me back my locket,” I demanded.
“I told you I am going to give it back later,” he said.
“No, I want it back right now,” I insisted.
He glared at me angrily.
“Please! It’s so precious for me. It’s the only thing that my real mother left for me,” I pleaded.
Hearing my plea, suddenly his expression softened. Sigmund pulled my locket out of his pocket. Before I could react, he spun me around.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
“Shut up!” He snapped at me.
He moved my hair to the side and put the locket on me.
I touched the locket around my neck and stared at it happily.
I turned around and looked at him. I said, “Thanks.”
“Let’s go!” He held my right arm and forced me to walk out of the room with him.
“Where are you taking me?” I asked curiously.
“My home,” he answered coldly.
“And where would your home be?” I asked again.
“You asked too much,” he complained.
Silence lapsed between us. When we were walking along a hallway, I spotted a window which wasn’t boarded up through the bathroom door that was left ajar. An idea crept upon me. I know that window was small but considering how thin I was I thought I could fit in there.
“Wait! Wait!” I stopped walking and dug my heels to the floor.
He turned to me. “What?”
“I need to pee,” I told him.
Before he could respond me, I interrupted him first, “You said it would be a long journey, right? Then you have to allow me to pee now or else I have to pee in your car while you’re driving.”
“Go! The bathroom is over there!” He pointed to the door which I saw earlier.
I rushed to the bathroom as soon as he let go of his grasp on me.
“Make it quick!” He yelled after me.
“Yes,” I said while slamming the door behind me.
With a great careful, I step up onto the sink below the window and looked outside. Thank God I was in the ground floor so I wouldn’t get hurt even if I jumped out of the window.
I pushed on the window, and luckily it was unlocked. I quickly hoisted myself up, pulled myself out the window, and landed perfectly on the brush. I sprung to my feet and quickly headed for the woods, leaving the building where they held me hostage.
'Finally I’m free,' I thought happily.
