Rosangela: The Half-Blood Princess

Chapter 53

By the time we reached my bedroom, the guards excused themselves right away. But I knew they didn’t really leave me. They must be guarding in front of my bedroom.

For the first time since I was brought to this palace, I didn’t really mind being guarded by those vampires. Maybe because I was still a little bit traumatized after I got abducted by the werewolves.

I was lucky I got kidnapped by the good werewolves. I couldn’t imagine what would happen to me if I was taken by the bad werewolves, or by cruel vampires, or by other creepy mythical creatures.

Taking off the backpack that the werewolves had given to me, I threw it onto the bed. After that, I headed for the bathroom and had a relaxing shower.

Walking out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my body, I entered the walk-in closet. I took a pink pyjama from the dresser and quickly put it on. Tired, I decided to go to bed soon.

I lay in bed. Just as I was about to close my eyes, the door flew open and Prince Maximilian barged into my room.

“Rosanne?” he shouted as he ran towards me.

Sitting upright, I asked while yawning sleepily, “What Maximilian?”

Perching on the edge of the bed, Maximilian pulled me closer to him and engulfed me in a bear hug.

“I’m glad you’re finally back. You don’t know how worried I was when you suddenly disappeared,” he said excitedly.

“Um Maxim, can you let me go now? I can’t breathe.” I had difficulty breathing considering how tight Maximilian hugged me.

“Sorry,” he mumbled as he detached his embrace from me.

“Where have you been, Mirabelle? I have searched for you everywhere, but I could never find you,” he asked worriedly.

This was the third time someone asked me the same question. And to be honest, I was tired of repeating the answer over and over again.

“I was kidnapped by the werewolves, but I managed to escape from them,” I told him.

“What?! You were kidnapped by the werewolves?” he asked in astonishment.

I nodded.

“But this whole palace is guarded by the best vampires, so how could they kidnap you without being spotted?”

“How could I know? Why don’t you ask the werewolves yourself?” I replied sarcastically.

“Forget it!” Maxim said, “You’re okay, right? Did the werewolves hurt you?”

“Don’t worry. I’m fine. They didn’t hurt me,” I replied.

“I am curious. How did you manage to escape from the werewolves, Rosanne? I mean, if they could outsmart the best vampires guards in this kingdom, so how could you ran away from them easily?”

His question caught me by surprise. I never thought that someone would ask me about it. If I lied to him, I knew Maximilian would find it out straight away. So instead of answer his question, I chose to say, “It’s a long story. Maybe I’ll tell you later.”

Prince Maximilian held my both of my hands and said with a smile, “No problem. You can tell me whenever you’re ready. The most important is you’re okay now.”

I returned his smile.

“Wait!” he suddenly said, staring at my hands confusedly. “Where is your engagement ring?”

I shook his hands off mine angrily. “I can’t believe it! Your fiancée went missing for a whole day, but all you worry about is the stupid engagement ring?”

“It’s not what I meant, Rosanne. I—”

“Enough!” I interjected him. “I’m tired. So can you please get out of my room, Maxim?”

“But Rosanne—”

“Now, Maximilian!” I snarled, cutting him off.

“Okay.” Prince Maximilian stood up and strolled towards the door.

“Good night, Rosanne. Sleep tight. I’ll see you again tomorrow,” he said before walking out of my room and shut the door after him.

“How rude he is! He didn’t even wait for my response before leaving,” I grumbled.

I lied down again and pulled the cover up to my neck. I had just closed my eyes for a minute until suddenly I heard the sound of the door burst open.

Upset, I sat up. “Maximilian, I told you I didn’t want to—” I stopped at mid sentence when I saw that it wasn’t Maximilian who came, but the vampire king.

“Grandpa?” I asked in disbelief.
