Rosangela: The Half-Blood Princess

Chapter 50

As soon as Ivan’s car left, I entered the café again. I decided to sit by the window so that I could observe the situation outside in case Sigmund, Prince Maximilian, or one of the guards from the vampire kingdom showed up.

A waiter approached me and talked to me in Romanian. I didn’t understand what he was saying but I guessed he asked me what I wanted to order.

Since I couldn’t speak Romanian, I talked to him in English. Fortunately, he could speak English. I then ordered a cup of hot chocolate and sandwich. Finally, he excused himself to get my order.

I had been waiting in this café for about six hours now. So far, I had ordered six cups of hot chocolate, two sandwiches, chips, and several kinds of desserts.

After sitting alone in this café for the first two hours, people, especially the café employees, began to look at me suspiciously. Maybe they were wondering why I hadn’t left yet while other customers normally left after half an hour or one hour to the utmost. I didn’t pay attention to them and chose to keep staring out of the window.

The waiter who took my order for the first time suddenly approached me and asked me what I was doing here alone.

I told him that I was expecting my boyfriend to pick me up. Well, I didn’t lie; I just bent the truth a little. I was indeed waiting for Prince Maximilian. He wasn’t my boyfriend but my fiancé, so I thought it was the same. If it wasn’t Prince Maximilian, I hoped it would be Sigmund who pick me up here.

The waiter politely suggested me to go home because he was sure that my boyfriend had turned down our appointment and wouldn’t come here. But I insisted on waiting for him here. However, I knew that I couldn’t go home without the help of Maximilian, Sigmund, or other vampires.

He said I could wait here as long as I want and told me to just call him if I needed something. After I thanked him, he left to do his work again.

After that, I spent the next four hours talking to some waitresses, waiters, and also some customers who were in this café. Fortunately, they all could speak English even though not too fluently. Our conversation really helped me not to get bored here.

The sun finally set, but I hadn’t seen the sign of Sigmund, Prince Maximilian, or one of my grandfather’s guards around here. At last, I began losing hope that the vampires would find me here.

‘Maybe I’d better use the money Ivan gave me to go to the UK Embassy so that I can go home to England,’ I thought.

I called the waiter and asked for the bill. After paying my bill, I decided to leave this café soon.

Just as I stepped out of the café, I caught a sight of Sigmund on the opposite side of the road.

“Sigmund?” I shouted and flailed my arms at him.

Sigmund turned to my direction. Relief was written all over his face when he saw me.

Since there wasn’t any vehicle passing here, I hurriedly crossed over the street to approach Sigmund.

“Thank God, you finally find me!” I said happily after I arrived in front of him.

Spontaneously, I hugged Sigmund, but unexpectedly he pushed me away.

“Are you out of your mind, Mirabelle? Why did you run away from your engagement party last night?” He reprimanded me.

“But I didn’t—”

“You know,” he interrupted me, “you have shamed the king in front of all of his guests. “

“I—”

“And the most important is,” he interjected again, “You scared us out of our wits when you suddenly disappeared without trace.”

“I’m—”

“What if something bad happens to you?” He scolded me, “The king will—”

“I know you’re angry with me, but please hear me out,” I yelled, cutting him off.

Sigmund crossed his arms over his chest. “Okay. So what’s your excuse this time, Princess?”

“I didn’t run away, but I was kidnapped,” I told him.

“You can’t be serious!” he said in disbelief.

“Do I look like joking to you?” I screamed, annoyed.

“But how could it happen? There are a lot of guards in the palace. How could he kidnap you and get away without being noticed?” he asked confusedly.

“How could I know? Maybe the guards were stupid enough until they didn’t notice that there was someone who disguised as one of the guests with the intention of kidnapping their princess,” I said mockingly.

“Who had kidnapped you?” Sigmund inquired, ignoring my remarks.

“I...” I trailed off.

‘Should I tell him about Ivan, Adolph, and Randolph? And what about the fact that they are werewolves?’ I asked in my mind.

‘No!’ I shook my head inwardly. ‘I can’t tell him about the werewolves. Not yet. Now, I honestly didn’t know who I should trust. Until I figured out who the true liar was, I thought I shouldn’treveal who my kidnappers were to the vampires.’

“Why didn’t you answer me, Mirabelle?” Sigmund snapped at me.

“I... I...,” I hesitated, “I don’t know who they were.”

“Are you sure you don’t know?” He narrowed his eyes suspiciously.

“Yes, I really don’t have idea who they are because they were wearing masks,” I lied.

‘Please let Sigmund buy my lies!’ I prayed over and over in my mind.

“That’s okay. I’ll order my men to find out who your kidnappers are,” Sigmund lastly said.

I quietly let out a sigh of relief when I knew that Sigmund actually believed me.

I’m glad Maximilian wasn’t the one who found me, or else he would immediately know that I was lying.

“Let’s go back to the palace! His majesty must be getting frantic by now,” he said.

“Okay.” I nodded.

Sigmund held my hand and we started to walk. But his steps came to a halt abruptly.

“Wait! Your clothes—” He looked at me from head to toe.

“Ah yes, my kidnappers forced me to change into these clothes. But don’t worry! I managed to take my ball gown and jewelrybefore I escaped from that place. Everything is in this backpack now.” I tapped the backpack that I was carrying on my back.

“It’s not what I meant,” Sigmund said, “These clothes seem familiar, but I can’t remember where I have ever seen them.”

“You can see this kind of clothes everywhere. They sell them all over the world,” I said.

“Maybe you’re right,” he murmured.

“Come on!” Sigmund yanked me forward.

“Where is your car?” I asked.

“I didn’t bring my car,” he replied.

His answer made me confused. “If you didn’t bring your car, how could we get back to the palace?”

“We’ll run there. It’s faster that way,” he said.

“Are you kidding me? How could you expect me to run that far?” I scoffed.

“You don’t have to run. I will carry you and then I will run to the palace using my vampire power,” he explained.

“No, I don’t want to run. I want us to go by car,” I demanded.

“Fine,” Sigmund said, annoyed.

He pulled his mobile phone out or his pocket and called someone and ordered them to pick us up here.

“The car will be here in fifteen minutes,” he informed me.

“Good!” I said.

Fifteen minutes later, the car finally arrived. I and Sigmund got into the back seat. Afterwards, Sigmund ordered the driver to take us back to the vampire kingdom.
