Rosangela: The Half-Blood Princess

Chapter 17

“I hate you.” I grabbed one of the pillows on the bed and threw it at the door angrily.

I lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling blankly. A few minutes went by. All of a sudden, I heard a click of the door being opened.

I snapped my head towards the door and saw Sigmund. He kicked the pillow laying on the floor in front of the door and started approaching me.

“Get up!” He ordered.

I turned my head to the other side, ignoring him.

“Princess, get up or I’ll make you,” he threatened.

Reluctantly, I sat up and faced him. “What?”

“Eat!” He put the tray he was holding on the bedside table.

I looked at the food on the tray. It was the same beef steak and blood sauce that I saw on the dining room.

I twisted my face in disgust. “No! I’m not eating that.”

“Are you planning to starve yourself?” He snapped at me, “You haven’t eaten anything since we brought you here. Now eat your food without complaining!”

“It’s not my fault. I wouldn’t starve if you gave me food,” I retorted.

“This is food. What do you think is it?” he said angrily.

“But the food you give me consists of blood. I don’t want to eat it,” I said.

“So you don’t want to eat this food? Okay, then you don’t have to eat anything.” Sigmund picked up the tray and hurled it on to the floor.

I was horrified by his outburst of anger.

“Lupita!” he yelled.

Quick as a flash, Lupita entered the room. “Yes, My Lord?”

“Clear this mess!” Sigmund ordered her, pointing to the splinters of plate and glass on the floor.

“Alright my lord,” Lupita said.

She rushed out of the room. A moment later, she returned with a broom and a dustpan.

While Lupita was sweeping the floor, Sigmund glared at me. I averted my eyes from his gaze, didn’t want to face his anger. Without saying anything else, Sigmund walked out of the room and slammed the door after him.

I breathed a sigh of relief to see the back of him.

Suddenly, Lupita came closer to me.

“Rosanne, are you hungry?” she asked under her breath.

“What do you think? I haven’t eaten anything for days,” I answered in upset tone.

“Shush!” Lupita put her index finger in front of my lips. “Be quiet! I don’t want Lord Sigmund hear us.”

“Sorry,” I whispered.

“Here! I have something for you.” She pulled something out of her apron pocket and gave it to me.

My smile grew when found out it was an apple.

“Thank you,” I mouthed.

She nodded and smiled at me. “Eat up your apple before Lord Sigmund comes back!”

“Okay.” I began to bite into the apple.

Lupita carried on sweeping the floor while I munched on the apple she gave me.

When she finished, she excused herself and left my bedroom.

Sigmund’s POV:

After leaving Princess Mirabelle’s bedroom, I stayed at the end of the hallway leading to her room.

I leaned my back against the wall and thought, 'Princess Mirabelle is really resemble to her mother. Her appearance, her attitude, her courage, and especially her stubbornness: everything is very similar to Princess Claribelle.'

'I wonder how long she will keep refusing the food I give her, and when she will finally accept the fact that she is a half-blood vampire and the granddaughter of the vampire king. Seeing how stubborn she is, I think it will take longer than expected.'

Several minutes later, I saw Lupita coming out of Princess Mirabelle’s bedroom and making her way towards me.

“My Lord.” Lupita bowed her head to me.

“How is it?” I asked her.

“Everything went as planned, My Lord. Princess Mirabelle has eaten the apple you gave me,” Lupita replied with a smile.

“Good!” I exclaimed, “At least now she has eaten something.”

Yes, I was the one who ordered Lupita to give the apple to the princess, and asked her to make it looked like she gave it to her secretly. I also ordered Lupita to bring her a cup of tea this morning. She was the princess of vampires whom I had been searching for years. How could I let her starve to die just because of her stubbornness?

“You may leave now Lupita,” I ordered her.

“Alright, My Lord.” Lupita bowed her head and walked away soon.

Staring at Princess Mirabelle’s bedroom, I said confidently, “Sooner or later you’ll finally give in, Princess. Just watch and see!”
