Rosangela: The Half-Blood Princess

Chapter 12

When we got out of the throne room, I stopped fighting because I knew it was useless. Sigmund carried me past many hallways and stepped up some staircases until we reached a bedroom.

As soon as he put me down on the edge of the bed, I examined the room. This bedroom was huge. I thought it was ten times bigger than my room in the Sinclairs’ house. It had three doors: he first one was the exit, and the others two were probably for the bathroom and wardrobe.

The walls in bedroom were painted red. Meanwhile, the ceiling was painted white. A crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling. And lastly, the wooden floor was covered in red carpet.

The four posters bed where I was sitting on right now was situated against the wall in the middle of the room. The sheet and covers were white, while the bedcover and pillows were maroon. At the right and left side of bed, there was each a bedside table with a lamp on the top of it.

There were two couches here: the first was at the footboard of the bed, and the last was by the window which was covered with red velvet curtain.

“From now on, this will be your bedroom. Until you can settle down here, you’re not allowed to leave this room without the King’s or my permission,” Sigmund informed me.

“You can’t lock me up in this room the whole time,” I protested.

“Of course I can,” he retorted.

“How about my food? There’s no food here. Will you let me starve to die?” I argued.

“Don’t worry about it! Food will be brought to you three times a day,” he said.

“What if I need to use the bathroom?” I asked dumbly, although I knew that one of the doors in this room might lead to the bathroom.

He cupped my chin and made me to look at my left side. “The bathroom is over there. You look like a mess. Take a shower now! The King doesn’t like something filthy in his palace.”

“You want me to take a bath in the middle of the night? No way! It’s freezing in here. Besides, taking a bath at night is not good for health,” I refused.

“Do what I say now or I’ll drag you to the bathroom and bathe you myself,” he threatened.

I gritted my teeth in annoyance. “Fine, you win.”

“Then, what are you waiting for? Go to the bathroom now!” he snapped at me.

Startled, I jumped to my feet and rushed into the bathroom.

I was in the point of closing the door when suddenly I remembered something important. I stuck my head out and said, “Wait! How about my clothes? I don’t have other clothes except for what I am wearing now.”

“The wardrobe is over there.” He pointed to a door next the bathroom. “There are hundreds clothes and shoes waiting for to be wore.”

“What if the clothes—”

“If the clothes do not fit you,” he interrupted, “I will call the royal seamstress tomorrow. He will find your size and make beautiful clothes for you.”

“But—”

“No buts,” he interjected. “Go to the bathroom! Now!”

“Fine. No peeking! Do you understand?” I warned him.

“I’m not interested in your body shape. So why should I take a peep?” He grinned mockingly.

'Oh God, how rude he is!' I said in my mind angrily. Before he could tease me further, I slammed the door shut and locked it.

“I have to go now. But I will be back shortly to make sure you follow my order,” Sigmund shouted at the other side of the door.

“Whatever!” I grumbled.

I peeled off my dirty clothes and threw them to the corner of the room. Pulling back the curtain, I stepped into the shower cubicle. I drew the curtain in case Sigmund suddenly burst into the bathroom.

I turned on the shower and let the warm water drip down my whole body. Reaching out to a bar of soap, I rubbed it against my body. After that, I stood below the shower again and the water soon washed away all of the foam in my body.

Afraid of Sigmund who might suddenly show up, I decided to turn off the water and get out of the shower cubicle hurriedly. I pulled a white bathrobe out of the vanity and put it on. I also took a hand towel and rubbed my hair dry with it before finally brushing my hair with a hair brush that I found.

I unlocked the door and stuck my head out. Turning my head to the left then to the right, I wanted to check if Sigmund was in this bedroom or not. When I was sure the coast was clear, I stepped out of the bathroom and headed for the walk-in wardrobe.

My mouth fell open. Sigmund wasn’t joking when he told me there were hundreds of clothes and shoes waiting for to be worn. Because in fact, I found a large number of clothes hanging in this wardrobe. Dozens pairs of shoes were also neatly placed on the shelves here.

I looked through the racks of clothes in this wardrobe, but I couldn’t find any casual clothes. All I saw were gowns and long dresses. I was used to sleep with pyjamas or at least sweatpants and T-shirts or tank tops. But now I didn’t have anything to wear here. Yeah, I found some night gowns between the dresses. But I thought those were too glamorous for my liking. So I didn’t want to wear them either.

“Don’t they have pyjamas around here?” I asked in annoyed tone.

'Maybe I have to ask Sigmund when he returns,' I thought.

I paced back and forth in the walk-in wardrobe, waiting impatiently for Sigmund to come back.

“He said he would return here shortly. But why did he take so long?” I said angrily.

After such a long time, finally, the wardrobe door flung open and Sigmund stepped in.

“Here you are, Princess! I thought you have escaped,” he said.

“Finally you’re back.” I let out a sigh of relief.

“Why? Missed me already?” he mocked me.

“Yes, I miss you so much till I can’t breathe,” I said sarcastically.

He gave me a chuckle, but then frowned when he saw I was still wearing a bathrobe. “Why didn’t you get dressed yet?”

“Well, that’s what I am going to tell you about. I can’t find clothes that suit me in this wardrobe,” I retorted.

“I am sure all of those clothes are in your size. So what’s wrong with those clothes?”

“There’s nothing wrong with these clothes. But I don’t feel like wearing one of them.”

“Why?”

“I told you they don’t suit me. So do you have other clothes?”

“No, I don’t. Just wear one of these clothes! They are beautiful. I am sure they will suit you.”

“They are beautiful only if you want to wear them for a ball.”

“I’m sorry?”

“You see? The reason I don’t want to wear those clothes are because all of them are ball gowns. How can I wear them to sleep?”

“Not all of them are ball gown. Look! This one is a nightgown. You can wear this to sleep.” He took a night gown from the rack and passed it on me.

“You call this a night gown? No, I am not wearing this.” I threw it to the floor.

“Then what do you wear for sleeping?”

“Have you ever heard about pajamas? We, human, or at least me, always wear it for sleeping. If you don’t have it, maybe you just can get me trousers and T-shirt.”

“No. You’re a princess. You’re not wearing such clothes.”

“Who are you to tell me what I should and shouldn’t wear?”

“Just wear this or you’ll have to go to bed naked!” he barked at me.

“Fine. You win. Again. Happy?” I retorted.

He smirked satisfyingly.

“Now what are you doing here? Get out now so I can get dressed!” I yelled.

Silently, he walked out of the walk-in closet and shut the door after him.

After getting dressed, I got out the walk-in wardrobe.

“Look at you! I told you you’d look beautiful while wearing them,” Sigmund said.

I rolled my eyes. “Yeah whatever.”

“I think it’s time for you to go to sleep. Good night princess.”

Sigmund began heading for the door, but I stopped him.

“Wait!”

He turned around and asked irritatingly. “What else?”

“I am hungry. Can you get me some food?” I requested.

He glared at me.

“Hey. Don’t look at me like that! You kidnapped me before I had dinner. And you didn’t let me eat anything along our journey here. So don’t blame me if I am starving now!”

“All right. I’ll send someone to bring you food,” he said coldly.

“Good!” I exclaimed.

“You’re welcome,” he teased.

“You think I want to thank my kidnapper? Not on your life,” I said firmly.

Shaking his head, Sigmund walked out of my “bedroom”. Then I heard a click indicating that he had locked the door.

I approached the bed. Lying on the covers, I rested my head against the pillows while waiting for my food to be delivered.
