Inside the empty white building, Nicholas sat alone by the table as he glanced quietly outside the window. There was a look of calm desperation in his eyes.

It had been more than a month. He had listened to his doctor, ate his medications, and took all the necessary injections.

Everyone was telling him that he was getting better, but only he knew the truth. His condition was already beyond saving. He would always feel a sharp pain in his heart whenever he thought about me.

It had been more than a month, yet I, his wife, had never called him once. It was as if I didn’t care if he was dead or alive.

He would often think back and try to recall if he had ever done something so unforgivable to have me treat him so heartlessly.

However, he seemed to have lost a portion of his memory after emptying his brain for so long. Now, he could only recall the things that he had done for me.

As he thought about the things he had done for me and all the sacrifices he made, he was slowly filled with a sense of helplessness and resentment. Then, those emotions slowly morphed into despair.

He looked down at the divorce papers Claudia had sent him with a heavy gaze.

Claudia hugged him as she cried her heart out. She told him that I could not wait to divorce him and that he could decide for himself if he wanted to divorce me or not.

She had also claimed that she could not understand how a heartless woman like me could possibly deserve such a wonderful and perfect man like him.

Nicholas uncapped the pen and held the pen in his trembling hand. The next second, the pen hovered above his arm. He began to question if he was truly alright, but he knew he wasn’t.

He buried his head in his arms as he collapsed onto the table. He cried out in pain, like a trapped beast with no way out. Slowly, tears began to drip onto the table…

Claudia told him that she hated me. She hated me for my cruelty and heartlessness. So, he questioned himself if he hated me. He didn’t know.

He only knew that he had done everything he could to keep me by his side, but no matter how much he tried or how many tricks he used, he would always fail.

In his eyes, he could only see me try and escape him whenever I saw him.

After everything that had happened, he no longer had the strength to love me, but he also did not have the energy to hate me…

I agreed to meet with Claudia after a week. She told me she had managed to get the divorce papers Nicholas had signed.

But when I went to meet her in Hawk Corporations, she threw me a clean copy. I looked at the blank space and turned to her in anger.

“Are you joking with me?”

I never thought things would turn out like that. After stringing her along for so long, she had ended up playing me

Claudia sat in Nicholas‘ chair, holding a small comb in her hands. She combed her hair and smiled gently. “Why are you in such a rush? Are you that eager to leave Nick?”

I took a deep breath and calmed myself down. My voice did not have an ounce of emotion as I said,” Everyone is busy. I don’t have the time to play games with you.”

1 subconsciously clenched my hands that were resting on my abdomen into fists. Her little game had indeed infuriated me. I had already been feeling unwell lately, so this entire thing just made me feel worse.

I got up to leave when Claudia called out to me. “Wait! Don’t go. I have what you need here!”

Turning around, I saw her wave a document file at me while grinning happily. She said, “This one has his signature on it.”

If people who didn’t understand Claudia met her, they would definitely be fooled by her behavior. I used to be one of those people, but I had long buried those emotions and feelings deep in my heart. Even if I were to think about it sometimes, it would just be a part of my past.

My expression was solemn as I ordered, “Give it to me!*

“Of course, I can give it to you. There’s no use for me to keep it either,” Claudia said with a small smile.” But Nick wants me to ask you if you’ve ever thought of spending your whole life with him.”

She added, “I want you to answer me honestly. As long as you answer me honestly, I’ll hand you these divorce papers immediately. Then, all you have to do is wait a month before you’ll be able to divorce him.”
