Chapter 205
Chapter 0205
I moved like a lifeless zombie and went back to the bed to lie down. It felt as though the living room, which wasn’t that spacious to begin with, had become much smaller with Nicholas in it. Even the air seemed thinner.
I was so weak that I was too tired to speak
Dias thought that I
was sick, so he came to me to hold me in his arms. I couldn’t break
free of him.
The only thing I could do was to part my lips and say, “Don’t touch me. Just let me sleep for a while.”
The truth was that the best option at the time was to go to the hospital. However, going to the hospital would mean that Nicholas might find out that I was pregnant. I refused to allow him to learn.

Nicholas‘ tone was hostile as he complained, “Why didn’t I have your IQ tested before we got married?”
I didn’t have the strength to fight back. All I felt was exasperation. It was likely he assumed that my being locked in the basement was just a show I had put on.
I grinned weakly. I knew that it wouldn’t matter, even if I had told him that Claudia was the true culprit. He would not believe me. Either that or he would downright ignore that fact. In the end, I would just be even more disappointed.
I turned around and had my back to him. It was extremely obvious that I didn’t want to talk to him. I could hear him gritting his teeth and complaining.
“Given how weak you are, how will you take care of yourself after the divorce?”
I felt as though my soul and my body had been separated My body was too exhausted, but my mind could still analyze things quick,

divorce yet, and wouldn’t care for me
My voice was so coarse that it sounded as though someone had burnt my throat dry. I replied, “Then please let me nave more money from the divorce. That way, I can have Wendy come over and take care of me sooner.”
Nicholas was so angry that he ended up laughing. He had clenched his fists and demanded, “The two of you can leave together.”

how eager Nicholas was when he told me to pack up and leave. That got me to sit up as though I were a mindless zombie and searched for my bag.
When I emptied the contents of my bag onto the bed, my phone wasn’t the only one that came into view. The medicine that the doctor prescribed me was in plain sight as well.
I quickly hid it under some other stuff. Unfortunately, Nicholas‘ eyesight was good, and he saw it.
“Are you sick? Why do you have a bottle of pills with you?”
My heart thumped hard for a moment. I pretended to be nonchalant when I grabbed the bottle of pills and shoved it into my bag.
After that, I replied, “It’s not mine. It’s Yasmine’s. I have been staying at her place these past couple of days.”

He frowned and stared at me. In the end, he said nothing.
I wanted to call Yasmine. However, when I had my phone in my hand, I remembered how I used it as a torch the night before. I was bored, so I pieced the torn photos together to pass my time. The battery was depleted.
I felt too uncomfortable, and my womb was
yoff as well.
Hence, the only thing I could do was to tilt my head up to look au Nicholas.
I requested, “Let me charge my phone for a bit. I’ll call someone to come pick me up.”
Nicholas‘ fingers, which were resting by his sides, slowly curled up. In the end, he still couldn’t suppress his anger, so he reached out to snatch my phone away. He smashed it onto the table.
He was smiling, and his eyes were brimming with emotion as he replied, “We haven’t gotten the divorce yet. Where do you think you’re going?”
Some clouds had hidden the sun away, and the sky had become darker. I shifted my gaze down. My eyes felt hot as tears gathered. I spent an entire night recalling every moment I shared with Nicholas on the night before.
I had never fallen for or loved anyone else but Nicholas. That was true, even when I was a kid. I didn’t know, but I wondered if break- ups were that difficult for everyone.
It wasn’t just my heart. Every nerve in my body was screaming and. telling me that they were in pain. My sorrow only worsened when I thought about the baby in my womb.

Under normal circumstances, husbands would get all sorts of delicacies for their pregnant wives. However, I had to hide and be secretive just to take the pills the doctor prescribed.
I felt as though something was stuffed into my throat. It felt horr.ule and stung. I asked, “Then what will you have me do?”

At that point, I couldn’t leave or stay. Hence, could do. I used to enjoy acting like a little g1. d would compiain about feeling off. After that, I would demand that he hold me tight.
Now that things had changed, I wondered what he expected me to
- do.
Enormous drops of tears dripped onto my shirt as I repeated, Nicholas, what will you have me do then?”
The tears had blurred my vision, but I could still see Nicholas‘ throat moving. It felt as though he had something to say to me, but he was also trying to avoid my gaze. On top of that, his expression was turning more and more stoic. He didn’t say anything in the end.
It felt as though time had paused in the space surrounding him and me. A lot of time had passed before I parted my lips and said, “Let’s go get a divorce. Claudia ripped the marriage certificate up, but the government should still have a record of it. You can pull some strings to bypass that, right?”
I wiped my tears off and tilted my head up to smile at him. After that, I said, “We don’t need to get the divorce papers printed for now. It’ll take some time for it to be processed anyway. We still have time.”
I tilted my gaze down and walked past him with great difficulty before I said, “Let’s go.”
I turned around to look at him as I spoke. We were less than one meter apart when our eyes met.
Nicholas never lifted his feet. He fished a box of cigarettes from his pocket and took one cigarette out. He took a deep puff. When th smoke swirled around his sunken cheeks, he looked extremely sexy.
I was a little taken aback and wondered wher cigarettes around.

My situation at this time did not allow me to inhal second–hand- smoke. I was just about to open the door when a huge palm pressed on the door. Nicholas blew the smoke right to my face.
I couldn’t stop myself from coughing. His gaze was as sharp as daggers when he looked through the smoke.
Nicholas seemed amused when he looked at me. He took another puff before he kissed me and said, “Just be straigh. forward if you don’t want to get a divorce. Do you think I wouldn’t be able to guess it just because you blame Claudia?”
