Simona said, "Instinct?"

Simona pondered Skylar's words. It seemed like she was beginning to realize some things she had been avoiding. For instance, Stephen mentioned that a relative was hospitalized in Jipsburg City, and he needed to visit the hospital while looking for a place to rent for them. On the surface, Stephen seemed to care deeply about his family. But she wondered why he refused to let her visit his relative in the hospital. Even when she wanted to see the place he was renting for his relatives, he had turned her down.

These were questions she needed to think about. Recently, she had been too emotional when considering things, especially regarding Stephen. It seemed that since they started dating, her thoughts had leaned toward being overly sentimental. Whenever she thought of Stephen, it felt like she was viewing everything through rose-colored glasses.

"Have you been enjoying those dating reality shows lately?" Skylar asked.

Simona was taken aback for a moment. "Huh? Dating variety shows? I've heard my classmates talk about them, but I've been too busy with studying and watching other series to check them out. Do you watch them too, Skylar?" "You might want to give them a try. You might learn a thing or two about dating," Skylar suggested.

Over the past few days, she had caught glimpses of the show, and there was a boy on it whose situation reminded her of Stephen. Of course, the girl involved was just as confused as anyone else, which sparked some discussions among viewers.

The show had even trended a few times. Simona was intelligent, but sometimes, she could be easily deceived by superficial appearances.

Simona immediately nodded. "If you say it's good, then I'll start watching. A couple of classmates recommended it to me just the other day."

As they were chatting, Stephen called Simona.

"Simona, my uncle and aunt are short on cash. The hospital is pressuring us to make the payment. Even with the money I raised from home, it's still not enough. Could you lend me a few tens of thousands of dollars? I promise to pay you back as soon as I have enough." Stephen started the conversation with money. Simona almost agreed right away, but for some reason, she glanced at Skylar.

Instead of immediately saying yes, she replied, "Sure, which hospital are you at? I'll come find you."

Skylar lowered her head, sipping her cola quietly. The cola, which had ice added, lost its flavor as she continued to drink.

She couldn't hear what Stephen was saying, but Simona bit her red lip, and then Skylar heard her say, "I know the director of this hospital. I can talk to them. What's your uncle's name? Which ward is he in? Who is his attending physician? I'll speak with the director." Hearing Simona ask these questions made Skylar smile to herself. It seemed that the person who understood Simona best was Aiken. He knew just how to give Simona an important lesson.

It appeared that Stephen said something else, causing Simona's expression to darken. Then she hung up the phone.

Skylar didn't pry for more details but exchanged a few more words with Simona before leaving.

Simona stood at the entrance of the Fry Shack, watching as Skylar's car disappeared down the road. Just then, Stephen called again.

"Simona, my aunt just called. She managed to borrow the money, so I won't need to trouble you anymore. You won't owe the director anything. I'm heading to make the payment now. I love you, Simona."
