Chapter 6
She looks at us with complete seriousness, “I called you both in to explain a few things. As you know you both have been modified however what you don’t know are the specifics.”
We turned and looked at each other before turning back to Megan for her to further explain. Apparently when we went under these procedures they did more than modify our DNA. The scientist combined the strength of our animal to the human part of us. Thus, making us stronger than any human. She roughly gauged it ten times but wasn’t able to give us anymore for whatever reason.
Our body’s metabolism would be higher and our healing rate would by speed my significantly more than any human. However, any grave injuries and like anyone else we could die. What surprised us more was the following questions and responses we would have to give.
“Ami and Oliver there is more and this might make you both feel uncomfortable.”, she says.
“Well what could you ask that would to be honest” said Oliver.
I just stayed quiet to let her continue.
“We need to know if you both are together in a strict work strictly sense or do you want to be more. Either way it won’t affect your pay and benefits.”, she said bluntly.
Oliver was stricken with surprise blushing. A reddish tint staining his blackish fur. I was the first to answer. I had enough of being quiet. I figured it would be better to be open about it. Or least prevent an invasion of my privacy, I wouldn’t put it past Megan to do so..
“I like Oliver. I find him very attractive and if given a chance I would want to pursue it to be something more. But that all depends on Oliver if he doesn’t see me the same way that I will respect him and won’t pursue it.”, I say confidence and sincerity.
Oliver looks at me, his face full of surprise. Looking at me before he spoke.
“Ami, I am getting to know you these past months. I see what a strong woman you are. We might be modified like this but I would very much like to pursue this as I feel we have a connection and I think us being together will also benefit us being partners. So what do you say? Will you go out with me?”
Megan has the biggest grin on her face with my fur turning pink on my cheeks from my blush, I nod accepting. He holds my paw-like hand before we turn back to Megan. Megan looks genuinely happy for us.
“Now as both of you know our enemy is Lunar. They are a horrible group of people who have caused much suffering to the country as well as cost us a great deal.”, Megan states.
Megan continues to explain to us about Lunar. They started back in the late eighties where they were looking into the differences between human DNA and animal DNA. Their research continued through the years. Some of the scientists even went so far as experimenting on their own children in the home. Once they were discovered the children were placed in different homes around the country.
Some were even able to live normal lives as others died years later. Lunar eventually went underground and eventually gained enough power where they have ties with various different people. Such as political figures, transportation companies, arms deals, just to say a few. Lunar eventually crossed Crescent by throwing the blame on them for human experimentation. Megan explained though I went through it kind of forcibly there was a reason behind it that she would get to in a moment.
Oliver met Megan a few years ago and after Megan explained her goals Oliver joined her and that is how he became the way he is now. Our goal is to take down Lunar and their leader. To do this we would have to take out all their allies, find their base, kill all those inside, copy all their data, then blow up their base.
“So both of you that is the plan, are you both with me on this?”, Megan asks.
“I am”, Oliver answered.
“I am in but I want to know the part you left out that you were going to explain Megan”, I answered.
Megan signed, “This isn’t going to be easy but Ami, your mother is the lead scientist of Lunar and you were the first to be experimented on by them. That is why you did so well and are very likely to be as strong as Oliver. Your mother did the same thing to your older brother who is still with her now spliced with a Siberian Tiger.”
“So my mother did essentially prepared me for this. I have an older brother that I didn’t even know about that is already spliced with a Siberain Tiger and possibly deranged. And I am supposed to kill them all to save others from suffering under them and becoming like us. Did I get that all correct?”, I say with a raised eyebrow.
A yes was her reply before I continued.
“I like being like this, I feel more like me like this. I am not saying that this is for everyone but I think it should be a choice not forced upon them. I agree they need to be stopped but don’t look at me like I am an abomination Megan.”
Megan looks shocked by my response, “Ami, I knew your mother for years and have known about you since you were born. You both are like my own children by no means do I see either of you as abominations.”, she states firmly.
I look into her eyes for any trace that she is lying. But I couldn’t find any trace of a lie in her voice. Accepting her answer, I ask one more question.
“So when this is all set and done, what are you going to do with us?”, I ask.
Oliver looks up at that one curiosity shining in his eyes.
Megan replies, “Most likely rescue missions to save children and replace them into proper homes, eliminating human traffickers, and making sure any rise of Lunar stays in the dirt. On your off time you two are free to be with each other unless an emergency arises.”.
Oliver and I both talk in unison, “That we can agree to.”
