Chapter 707 Aren't you afraid that
granny
will hate you forever?
Mr. Knight seemed to be influenced by Cathy's words. He pondered for a moment and looked at Sophia. "Fine, if you're so determined, I'm afraid we can't be friends. You guys, beat her until she is willing to give money."
The beaters came as they were told. But what gave them a shock was that Sophia, all of a sudden, broke away from the one who held her and fought with them fiercely.
Cathy and Mr. Knight were utterly stunned. They had not the least idea what was going on.
Meanwhile, Sophia fought as hard as she could. Though the beaters were well-trained, Sophia was not worse than them. At least it was quite easy for Sophia to protect herself from their attacks.
Cathy and Mr. Knight soon found that out so Cathy shouted anxiously, "You guys! Get her under control, quickly!"
"Who do you want to control?" Saying that, Drake walked in.
Hearing his voice, Cathy froze while Mr. Knight tried to escape out of extreme fear.
However, Drake would not let him. "Paul, bring them to me. Oh, remember not to kill them."
"As you said, Mr. Riley."
Drake's words gave Cathy and Mr. Knight a cold shudder. Not killing them didn't mean not hurting them.
Mr. Knight didn't like the idea of getting hurt so he surrendered at once. "Mr. Riley, please forgive me! It's Cathy, your dear cousin-in-law who offered the idea!"
Cathy was shocked. "What are you talking about?"
"Oh, you shut up, liar. You said you wouldn't let Mr. Riley know. But he is here in no time. You idiot, we're done."
"What? How can you pretend to be innocent? It's you who agreed with this plan."
Drake interrupted, "That's enough. I know you're behind this, Cathy Lawson."
Cathy shuddered and tried to be as innocent as possible. "Drake, I won't deny that. But you should understand I am a victim too. I have lost a great amount of money in investment but Mr. Knight blamed me for costing him money and threatened me that if I failed to pay him back, he would kidnap me. But I've broken myself and even though I have asked my parents and Sophia for money, they wouldn't like to help. I didn't know what to do."
Drake could not tolerate this nonsense. "Oh, I think you know exactly what to do. Conspiring with others to kidnap your own cousin. What a great idea."
"I really don't have other choices. Or what should I do? Let Mr. Knight kill me? How can you and Sophia be so cruel to me? If something happens to me, our Lawsons won't let you two get away easily!" Drake sneered, "Our Lawsons? Don't be so ridiculous. Once you're married, you'll not be a Lawson anymore. Given the ungrateful things that you have done, I doubt your ancestors have already given up on you."
His words quieted Cathy at once.
At the same time, Mr. Knight was still begging for mercy. "Mr. Riley, I've told you what I know. Please forgive me!"
"Kidnapping is not funny. I don't care what you're supposed to do to Cathy but now that you kidnapped my wife, you'll end up in prison. Take him away!" Drake ordered.
Mr. Knight yelled, "No, please, no. Somebody help me!" But nobody dared to utter a word.
Cathy looked around nervously. She thought there was a chance to run for her life but she was forced to the ground for less than a few seconds.
"Cathy, Cathy, you really surprise me. Look at the things that you've done. If you succeed this time, are you going to kill someone the next time?" said Drake.
Sophia was out of trouble now. Patting her clothes, she tried to remove the dust while saying, "Drake, you're wrong. She'll kill me this time as long as she gets the money because I'm nothing but a threat to her."
Resentment was written clearly on Cathy's face. Though Sophia didn't speak it out, she could clearly feel it.
Drake squinted, feeling disgusted at Cathy. What an evil woman. "Take her away and make sure she'll be put into prison." Since the Lawsons chose to spoil Cathy, he would be the bad guy to teach her some bitter lessons.
Cathy panicked, "No, please, Drake. I'm sorry. Let me apologize to my cousin! Sorry, Sophia, I'm so sorry. Just don't put me in prison. I'll die in there. I'll do everything if you forgive me." Sophia said coldly, "Cathy, stop that. Your trick is not going to work because you've crossed the line so many times that you have to learn some lessons or you're going to ruin yourself." Since begging didn't work, Cathy changed her attitude. "Sophia, aren't you afraid that Grandma will hate you forever?"
"Grandma has given up on you. You forget that?"
"Not this time. She'll not let her granddaughter end up in prison."
"Fine, if you insist, I can take you to Grandma, and let's see what she thinks about this?" Saying that, Sophia gestured to Paul to take Cathy with them.
So, Paul grabbed Cathy to her feet and dragged her out. Cathy shouted hysterically, "Hey, don't drag me like that. It hurts! Can't you be nice to lady?"
However, Paul would only be gentle to Aria and that gentleness would never be shared with other women.
Meanwhile, Drake looked at his wife and asked, "Don't you worry that once Cathy gets to meet Grandma, she would force you to change your mind?" "This time, I believe Grandma will be on my side," said Sophia confidently.
When they arrived at Riley's house, Paul threw Cathy to the ground in the living room. Because all Sophia's brothers had come, the old Mrs. Lawson came out of her room and was now chatting with her grandsons happily. Therefore, what happened gave them quite a shock.
The old lady asked confusedly, "What's going on?"
Though Cathy was hurt from the fall, she ran to her grandma at once, sat on the ground, and grabbed her grandma's leg. "Grandma, it's my cousin Sophia! She is going to send me to prison! How can she do that to me? Though we don't share the same parents, we're all Lawsons! How can she do that to me without your permission?"
The old Mrs. Lawson turned to Drake and Sophia who were walking into the room.
Cathy pretended to be innocent again, saying, "Grandma, you have to help me. You can't let them send me to prison. I want to stay with you and fulfill my duty as a filial granddaughter!"
