Chapter 19: I Love You
After the fight, Alfred went out for a walk alone and unknowingly walked to the nearby square. At this time, it was still morning.
There were sparse pedestrians in the street. A cold wind blew. Alfred shuddered. No matter how cold he was, he couldn't
compare it to the distress of his heart.
He felt that he had never treated Carrie badly except for getting married. He even...
Alfred suddenly raised his eyebrows, recalling the completely different attitudes he held towards Carrie and Lauren. He began to
wonder if it was worth it.
"Haha, I didn't expect you to be so funny!" A giggle disturbed Alfred's contemplation. Hearing the sound, Alfred was taken aback.
It sounded like that woman.
Following the voice, he finally found the owner of the voice in front of a milk tea shop.
She had a pink coat with a slender figure. She wore her long hair down. Everything of her resembled that person.
Alfred couldn't believe she would come alive. He strode to the woman, blurting out the name lingering in his memory, "Lauren!"
"Is someone calling me?" Lauren heard a voice when she took the ice cream and turned to look around doubtfully.
Alfred stopped after shouting her name. He was dumbfounded when he saw the woman who looked exactly like Lauren turned to
face him.
"Ms. Jones?" Why did she appear here? Alfred hid to the side and looked at the people in front of him. It turned out to be the
woman who trapped him yesterday. And there was a tall and broad man next to her.
That woman seemed to be a little different today. Yesterday, she was an aloof businesswoman. Now she turned into a sweet girl,
licking the bear-like ice cream in her hand and showing a contented smile. But she carelessly dropped the chocolate on her
clothes and stuck out her tongue embarrassedly, which made her look very cute.
Alfred gazed at the woman in front of him and curved his lips unconsciously. When he realized that he didn't hate her and even
slightly liked this opponent, the girl in pink had already gone away.
"Lauren, don't go!" Alfred shouted subconsciously.
"I always feel that someone is following us," Lauren said curiously, looking back but there was no one she knew. What a strange
feeling!
"Nobody is here. Lauren, we finally have a vacation when we can gather together! Let's just have fun." Joshua Miller patted
Lauren on the shoulder to ask her to rest assured.
Lauren shrugged. Maybe it was because she worked so hard to compete with the Kent Group during this period that it caused an
auditory hallucination.
"Don't move—" Joshua suddenly approached Lauren. "You have chocolate clung to your lips. Let me help you take it down."
Lauren smiled after hearing that and let Joshua help her.
It was a normal action, but Alfred felt quite depressed while watching this. He swallowed hard, restraining the desire to follow
them.
This was others' matter, why bother? He let out a sigh and turned to walk back.
After dawn, there were more people in the square. As several young couples passed by, Alfred suddenly felt a bit lonely.
Alfred's face remained solemn, but he had mixed feelings. "Forget it, Carrie was just being upset. I did neglect her these days."
It would be fine if he coaxed her.
Along the way, Alfred thought about what to say several times, finally decided to buy a bunch of flowers for Carrie, and then said
those three words to her.
After planning out, Alfred first went to the company to swiftly deal with today's affairs and then returned home early.
In order to give Carrie a surprise, he moved very carefully, but when he got home, he was surprised by Carrie.
At this time, Carrie was still wearing the pajamas she wore yesterday, hovering at the door of the house. She looked very
anxious.
"Is she waiting for me to go home?" Alfred guessed that Carrie regretted it after he left. She must be worried about him but she
didn't dare to call, so she waited at the door.
Alfred was a bit moved. Then he walked towards Carrie with the delicate flowers in his hand.
"I spent a huge amount of money hiring you. You must think of a useful trick to help me get back what I want!" Carrie deliberately
lowered her voice before, but she supposed that Alfred would not come back home at the moment, so she simply stopped
covering.
When Alfred approached, he realized that Carrie was talking on the phone. Seeing that she seemed very annoyed, he leaned
against the wall to listen curiously.
"Carrie, don't worry, let me know Mr. Kent's preferences and whereabouts first, and I will help you deal with it!" A sweet and
coquettish voice came from the other end of the phone.
Alfred frowned, wondering how Carrie would make such a friend. Originally, he was worried that Carrie would run into a liar, but
the following conversation between them made Alfred instantly turn furious.
"Man is a species that only relies on the lower body to think. As long as we give it a try, we can take them down. If you do as I
said, you can certainly get him. By then, his property and company will be yours!"
The two women unscrupulously discussed how to obtain all of Alfred's property. Carrie laughed loudly.
Alfred thought to himself, "Carrie, was this the ultimate purpose for you to marry me?"
Alfred turned gloomy. He didn't step forward to interrupt Carrie's conjecture but silently walked away and threw the flower into the
trash can.
Not everyone deserved to hear those three words—I love you.
