Revenge Of The Disowned Groom by Jocelyn Malory

Chapter 4

Chapter

Back at the Greenell Psychiatric Hospital, Carlos noticed a man standing near the entrance, lost in thought. “Excuse me, who are you looking for?”

The man cautiously asked, “Are you…”

Carlos nodded, “I’m Carlos Balton, and I’m currently the acting director here.”

The man, now regaining his composure, spoke with more respect and even knelt down. “So, you’re the director. Mr. Balton, you are my lord.”

Carlos was stunned. “What are you talking about?”

The man explained, “I’m Eric Lawson, the chairman of the Luther Group. Freddy is my godfather, and he sent me a letter instructing me to transfer the Luther Group to you and put it in your name.

“From now on, Mr. Balton, the Luther Group will take its orders from you.”

Puzzled, Carlos inquired, “Mr. Freddy Lawson was perfectly fine when he left the hospital. What happened? Has his condition worsened?”

Eric, his face filled with embarrassment, replied, “Mr. Balton, I’m not joking.”

Carlos smiled and joked, “Chairman of the Luther Group, huh? Shouldn’t we sign some kind of agreement?”

Eric handed over a jet–black ring, saying, “No need for an agreement. Please accept this ring, Mr. Balton.

“I’ve held it on behalf of the Luther Group, but starting today, the Luther Group has you as its new owner.”

Carlos couldn’t easily decline and looked at the man with some

sympathy. “Well, how about staying for a while?”

The man quickly waved his hand, replying, “I have some matters to attend to, but I’ll come to assist you later.”

Carlos regretfully said, “Alright, you know where the main gate is.

Remember to contact me when you plan to come.”

Without leaving any contact information, Carlos turned and entered the hospital gates.

Before he could get far, the man suddenly had a realization, and thought, “Uh, he doesn’t really think I’m a mental patient, does he?”

As the man reached a street corner, a black Bentley pulled up beside him, and the person who opened the door was Jasper Miller, the vice president of the Luther Group.

Eric got into the car and asked, “Jasper, does Ms. Hiller have any plans in the near future?”

Jasper replied, “She’s been in meetings during the day. Tomorrow night, she might attend a reception.”

Eric instructed, “I have something urgent to do and need to return to Colmar immediately.

“You’ll be in charge of her security. There must be no room for error!”

Jasper nodded. “Also, Jason from the Maredar Group knows of your arrival and has sent an invitation…”

Feeling a bit impatient, Eric said, “I don’t have time for such trivial matters. Whether I see him or not, you can decide.“.

Jasper respectfully nodded, saying, “Understood, Mr. Lawson, I’ll handle it.”

Eric waved his hand and went on, “And one more thing, don’t treat me like the chairman anymore. From now on, the Luther Group has a new

owner.”

Jasper, clearly excited, asked, “Did you find Mr. Balton?”

Eric smiled wryly. “Yes, I found him, but Mr. Balton doesn’t fully trust my words yet, and he hasn’t confirmed taking over the Luther Group.

“Until then, Mr. Balton’s identity must remain confidential, and I can’t provide you with any details.

“I have to go back to Colmar to check on something. When I return, I’ll personally introduce you!”

Near a restaurant, Joan, looking stylish, approached Ashley and said, “It’s been a while, Ashley. Caroline has already filled me in on your situation… “You’ve come at the right time. I’ve found a solution to the troubles your family is facing.”

Ashley was surprised. “So soon?”

Joan, with a touch of self–satisfaction, said, “It’s quite fortunate, really. The Maredar Group is currently seeking collaboration with the Luther Group.

“Well, have you heard of the Luther Group?”

Ashley knew all about the Luther Group, the country’s largest security conglomerate and a renowned name in the security industry.

It was rumored that the founder of the Luther Group possessed immense power and had an extensive network.

One could say that anyone under the Luther Group’s protection was untouchable in the country.

While the Maredar Group was wealthy, its influence didn’t stretch across the nation.

The Luther Group, on the other hand, was in a league of its own. It was known to have international dealings, especially in the oil and mining

sectors

If the chairman of the Luther Group were to visit Nantes, even Jason, Nantes’s wealthiest man, would personally welcome him at the airport. But now, she couldn’t even find a way into the Maredar Group. How could she even dare to hope that the Luther Group would come to her rescue?

Shamelessly seeking their help might only lead to humiliation.

Caroline seemed to have a hunch and said in an astonished tone, “Joan, you don’t happen to know anyone from the Luther Group, do you?” Joan’s tone was self–assured as he replied, “You’re spot on. When I was in Colmar, I had the privilege of befriending someone.

“And that friend of mine is now a high–ranking executive in the Luther

Group. He’s currently here in Nantes for business.

“I’ve already set up a meeting for tomorrow. As long as the Luther Group is involved, the troubles your family is facing will undoubtedly be resolved.”

Caroline gave her a thumbs–up, saying, “Impressive, Joan. Your social circle is so vast that you can befriend big shots from the Luther Group. “It’s a pity that Ashley is not your woman!”

Ashley thought her best friend’s words were slightly inappropriate but she didn’t want to confront her directly, so she changed the topic. “Joan, thank you so much. You’ve really saved me this time.

“Don’t worry; I’ll cover all the expenses. And if the deal goes through, the Lance family won’t be left out!”

Joan asked in return, “Ashley, why be so formal with me? Your problems are my problems.

“It’s just a small favor. Besides, you know where I stand.

“If anyone comes to me for help, I’ll ignore them!

“For you, however, no matter how big or small the issue is, even if it means facing danger, I’m all in, without hesitation.”

With those words, Joan moved closer.

Ashley’s scent enveloped him, a delightful and intoxicating fragrance, much like fine wine–sweet, yet bold.

Driven by desire, he slowly reached for those alluringly tender and milky hands.
